Tinubu greatest builders of men in Yoruba nation — Fayose

Says crisis with Makinde, Olujimi not personal

By Rotimi Ojomoyela

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayodele Fayose has described the former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as one of the greatest builders of men in Yoruba land and Nigeria at large.

Fayose said he won’t join political enemies of Tinubu to shoot him down politically, adding that people should learn how to appreciate those who had done creditably well despite political differences.

Fayose clarified that though he was not holding brief for Tinubu, who is the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, but noted that his contributions to the nation and prominence shouldn’t be undermined by anyone.

On his seeming frosty relationship with Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde and Senator representing Ekiti South, Biodun Olujimi, Fayose stated that there was no leadership tussle among the trio, saying, whatever happens, were not personal and would be resolved in the interest of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP).

Fayose said this in Ado Ekiti on Saturday while speaking with journalists as part of the events commemorating his 60th birthday.

Fayose, who spoke on the recent defection of the Ebonyi State Governor to the APC, said he would never jump ship like those politicians that were bereft of political ideology.

Fayose said: “I am not championing the course of Tinubu, I’m not in the position to do that, but there is no denying the fact that Tinubu is a prominent Yoruba leader, whether in APC or in PDP. There is no gainsaying that fact. Fayose is a prominent son of Yoruba nation. Governors Nyesom Wike, Ifeanyi Okowa, Okezie Ikpeazu, are prominent sons of southern Nigeria.

“What I am trying to say is that we can’t hide their identities and goodwill for political reasons. We can’t deny their contributions. Other leaders from the North like Ahmadu Bello Sardauna, they made different impacts, not necessarily like Awolowo. So, Tinubu has paid his dues. I have paid my dues, Okowa has paid his dues, Wike has paid his dues, we need to acknowledge them.

“The late Balarabe Musa, who was a leader of note and repute, cannot be forgotten in history. For me, Tinubu has paid his dues, I stand by that. I have not seen Tinubu after the Ekiti election by any means, we haven’t even met at a function or saw him pass.

“President Muhammadu Buhari condoled with me on the death of my sister, does it mean we are on the same page politically? No. I will not sit down in any corner to shoot down Tinubu. I am not a member of APC and I will never be. But I supported Governor Fayemi to be governor by Tinubu’s influence at a time”.

Fayose said in spite of the multifaceted crises in the PDP, that he won’t jump ship like some leaders of the party had done, saying: “if we are fighting in PDP, let us fight it inside PDP. People who have been jumping ship are armed robbers. They are being driven by greed and inordinate ambition.

“These are indications of the type of leaders we have in our country who are without ideology. They go for only what they feel would benefit them.

“Our politics is sick. Everything in Nigeria is currently sick and is a function of the leadership that we have. Governor Umahi’s joining APC after benefiting several positions in PDP was unprincipled. We do not accept the excuses given by the governor.

“I am not satisfied with some things in PDP, but, leaving the party does not equally solve the problems”.

Asiwaju Tinubu Keeps Dominating 2023 Presidency As PDP Faces Likely Implosion

By Omo-Ikirodah_

On your marks, get set, …GO, that was how we grew up when partaking in a competition. This countdown signifies the beginning of a contest.

It is a three-command start when racing: on your mark (get on your lane/spot): get set (get to starting position): then go! (MOVE AHEAD)

The great race to 2023 has already begun; as we speak all competitors have positioned themselves on their lane awaiting the final word…GO.

Tinubu this, Tinubu that, Jagaban this and Jagaban that. What is the issue with Tinubu that we no longer can’t hear a word anymore? If Tinubu is not featured in the discussion then the subject of discussion is not related to Nigerian politics.

So why always Tinubu?

Truth be told when it comes to presidential elections it is not a tea party and it requires not only the most experienced hands it also involves one with deep pockets who is widely accepted across the six Geo-political zones.

Forget all this new development of a youthful candidate for the 2023 presidency, demographics is what determines the winner, not sentiment and social media bravado. Abi, when you witnessed the just concluded United States presidential elections, was your mate featured as a contestant? (lol for those below 60)

The North is not keen about your youthful representation or too young to rule mantra for the PRESIDENCY their interest is what matters to them, abi did you see them protesting in the North during the last #EndSARS uprising that almost swallowed the Nation?

Or is the 40-year-old candidate going to be president without votes coming from Kano?

Moreover, there is a conspiracy theory that when money is thrown around for these youthful agitators they would come for each other's jugular and tear themselves apart.

Please do not twist my narrative as the new mantra of power must change hands to the youths can work for every other elective position even up to the Governorship race, but mark my words the presidency is way beyond just wishful thinking.

The youth capable of uprooting the ELDERS from Aso Rock is not yet available; if you critically look inwards we do not have the right YOUTH presently with the charisma, the charm, the money, the clout and the international backing to be president of the greatest black nation on Earth.

The word Jagaban is a traditional title meaning “Leader of warriors” and today in politics if you mention JAGABAN it depicts one with deft political manoeuvres.

This is courtesy of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu the Jagaban of Borgu.

As political pundits are busy brandishing Tinubu upadan like he is the founder and originator of the problems in Nigerian they have forgotten to take a critical look at the likely implosion of the PDP ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

Like earlier stated the Presidency is not for learners. Today the PDP has three major interests in the party or power blocs rather as the 2023 presidency draws close.

The Atiku frontiers, the Saraki warriors and the loyal armed forces with allegiance to Nyesom Wike.

The South-East, unfortunately, are still not in the picture of the whole plot and herein lies the first major problem. Already the Ebonyi State Governor Dave Umahi has joined the APC ahead of the 2023 presidential elections, according to Umahi he’s done with the PDP and has ported!

Umahi is preparing to carry along a large chunk of supporters along to the APC thereby depleting the PDP in the South-East.

Wike on the other hand is considered brutish and unsuitable for the top job, his recent stint with members of IPOB might be an albatross to him at a later date.

To become the President is not only about ordering traditional Rulers upadan or issuing threats at will, but it also involves having a strong CONNECT in all 36 States of the Federation. Wike is seen as an enemy of the Igbos as we speak presently.

The worse issue is that Wike might not even be considered as a Vice-Presidential candidate because of his alleged brute character, he’s considered as a FOE already if even granted the privilege.

Can Wike be vice-president and yet still be humble like GEJ was to Yar’Adua or an Osinbajo to Buhari?

Saraki on the other hand is cool and well calculated but seems to lack home support like before.

Imagine the Former Senate President since his last electoral loss has not stepped his feet in Ilorin till last weekend when he visited home to attend his late dad’s 8-year Fidau Prayer.

A serious contender for the office of the president would not neglect his people just because he failed to return to the Senate after all his family seems to be the highest political beneficiary in Kwara State thus far.

Atiku, on the other hand, looks good to carry the day in PDP but may ruffle feathers.

Suffice it to say that the PDP faces a likely implosion that may question the foundation of the party as it approaches the 2023 Presidency.

As the naysayers go about distorting the narratives around Bola Ahmed Tinubu they should also look inwards and pray that the PDP remains united and pose a strong threat to the ruling APC as the umpire finally screams the final word GO.

Video: I am still the Jagaban, I Didnt Go Anywhere

The APC national leader and Asiwaju of Lagos, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said he never travelled to France or anywhere contrary to the widely spread news that he hurriedly left for France in the heat of the Endsars protests in Lagos.

A MASSACRE WITHOUT DEAD BODIES

_By Salisu Na’inna ÆŠambatta_

The misapplication of media power for the mass distribution of content, enabled by the pervasive nature of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) via the worldwide web, has manifested in Nigeria during the so-called EndSars protest.

And Nigeria is not the first country in the world to fall victim to such abuse of the Internet-based capacity to mass-circulate all manner of rubbish, some of it laughable, many of it useless while a portion, which is very dangerous and extremely harmful. So-called citizen’s journalism has ruined relationships, led to bloody conflicts and hatred around the world.

The most recent example of the negative effect of the spread of fake news and incidiary media contents happened in Nigeria, Africa’s most populous and richest country by GDP and massive natural resources.

It all started when the organisers of the EndSars campaign used the social media to mobilise participants, deceptively riding on the genuine grievances associated with the recently-disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and mixing it with other agendas.

The organisers and their foreign and local backers played on the country’s faultlines to instigate an orgy of killings, arsons, looting and freeing dangerous convicts from correctional centres in some states of the federation. The tactics they deployed in their mobilisation were deceptive, unethical and dangerous to the extent of openly calling for the murder of security personnel and the destruction of public infrastructure. They took hate speech to a new level of irresponsibility.

This irresponsible tactic emboldened mobs to engage in the killing of a few policemen on sight, the destruction of public and private property in Lagos and elsewhere, the looting of goods in commercial warehouses, and spreading the fake news of the decade by falsely telling the world that the Nigerian security forces have massacred an unknown number of protestors at a toll gate in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial capital.

It is on the basis of that fake news, the story of a massacre without dead bodies, because it never happened, that leaders of multilateral bodies, including that of the United Nations, the Governments of the USA, the United Kingdom and others, rushed to comment, make judgement and pronouncement on a massacre that never was. They thus judged wrongly, commented undiplomatically and exposed the weaknesses of their diplomats, especially their security attaches, who could not, or willfully failed to, verify claims in a foggy situation so that they can advise their home governments accurately. Thus, their governments can now be seeing to be believers of massacres without dead bodies even though the massacres never happened.

The incidence of a massacre without dead bodies, or the list and identities of those allegedly murdered by soldiers at a toll gate in Lagos, has equally exposed the degeneration in the quality and worthiness of hitherto powerful and influencial broadcast stations like the BBC, VOA, Aljazeera and a host of other international news agencies as mere hollow outfits that cannot testify to the accuracy and reliability of their own content. This is serious, bad and sad for the tax payers whose money is funnelled to finance the operations of especially the governmen-owned outlets.

The reportage, particularly of the television stations, largely relied on visuals created and supplied to their reporters by the protestors or rioters. Even at this, they could not produce any video clip, even if only the fabricated type, to support their claim of “many civilian protestors were killed at the Lekki Toll Gate.” As a former staff of the BBC World Service in London, I feel tremendously disappointed that the BBC cannot verify stories of the importance of an alleged massacre before dishing it out to the global audiences that held news out of its newsrooms as truthful, reliable and quotable.

As for Aljazeera, the Doha-based International Television broadcaster, I feel it should bury itself in disgraceful shame in desert sand dunes for the falsehood it sold to the world, of a massacre that never was. Its total reliance for video clips and interviews with the errand boys and girls of the protestors exposed the incompetence of their reporters.

Perhaps investigating all the Nigeria-based reporters of all the foreign media outlets involved in filing fake news, may lead to a possible discovery that they were compromised by those behind the protests, riots and creators of the false story of a massacre without dead bodies. They most likely failed to say “no thanks,” the incorruptible standard set by a Nigerian news organisation.

#EndSARS: Nigeria risks huge collective losses, Rep Yusuf warns

Without proper dialogue and a timely resolution of the current face-off that started as ‘ENDSARS’ protest, Nigeria’s political elites and protesting youth stand the risk of huge collective losses, a member of the House of Representatives, Honourable Teejay Yusuf has warned.

In a statement issued in Abuja, Honourable Yusuf (PDP, Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal constituency) also said that the drafting of the army to break Nigerian youth peaceful protest in as well as the consequent loss of lives and properties is not only highly condemnable but shocking and outrightly unfortunate.

Yusuf, a former students activist noted that long years of official insensitivity, lack of effective response to loud complaints against SARS three years ago and persistent scepticism about government’s promises are among factors that caused the current face-off.

Lamenting the loss of lives and the criminal opportunism of hoodlums, Honourable Yusuf emphasized that irrespective of political party affiliations and ethnic origin, the entire political class, youth and other stakeholders across the federation stand to lose a lot if normalcy is not speedily restored.

“If this crisis festers and becomes something else, no political elite should feel safe because not all would be able to escape the chaotic situation , even with private jets; if things worsen too dangerously, youth may get drafted into violent conflicts they never planned for and the old and the young as well as children, women and all stakeholders in Nigeria may face the worst time of our lives.

“Even the two World wars ended at the negotiating table; the best that we can all do now is to pull back from the brink, have frank dialogue and demand the institution of lasting corrective measures that may become part of our constitutional reforms,” he stated while noting the lingering distrust for government.

“SARS started as a solution to the problem of armed robbery but unfortunately, it became a problem to citizens who sometimes allege that ex-robbers and criminal extortionists may have become part of the defunct SARS; members of SARS were mostly southerners but they caused inexplicable traumas in the south.

“Accumulated anger is being reflected in the rage we’ve seen, three years ago, loud protestations against SARS’ excesses were handled the same way we handle every other issue haphazardly with few long-term considerations.

“Our youth do not trust government because the spate of panels and half-measures as reflected in ineffective official reactions to ASUU strikes that started around 1991 show that we prioritize the wrong things and for higher education, things got so bad that our children got more used to the idea of going to Ghana, Cotonou and other places for higher education.

“I am warning all of us because all over the world, revolutions begin with seemingly innocuous incidents but before anyone realizes it, things spiral out of hands; the French revolution began with mere complaints over the price of bread, the Arab spring was sparked off by one man’s self-immolation in in reaction to injustice.

“We must all be cautious too because revolutions always have extreme consequences, including positive and negative ones if things are not well managed ; a revolution forces changes to happen but it swallows many in the population too.

“As for the complaints against police and SARS’ excesses, if a responsible government agrees that what was happening was not good, it takes action immediately and takes inputs from complaining citizens before doing a review but in our own case, the police just announced disbandment of SARS and next day, it announced SWAT as a replacement.

“So, the youth assumed that government is playing the usual cards of symbolic tokenism and motion without movement or ‘audio promises’ that have become a special directive principle under the APC administration which still blames others and fumbles around unrealized promises they made since 2014.

“All these problems have accumulated over the years but the weight and intensity have been fast-racked under the APC administration which promised our youths millions of job but instead, institutes policies that have ensured loss of jobs, disincentives for foreign investors and the scaling down of operations by corporate bodies.

“I still emphasize that brutal force or mean aggression can never win in the current situation and there must be proper explanations and compensations too.

“As it is, considering the massive destruction of properties and painful loss of innocent lives, it is absolutely necessary for government to ensure that justice is done where and where appropriate, as well as compensate victims,” Hon Teejay Yusuf stated.

Oba Owoniyi represent a bridge for collective prosperity and a repository of divine wisdom, says Omoluabi

Senior Special Assistant to Kogi Governor on Political Matters, Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi has congratulated the 44th Obaro of Kabba and Chairman Okun Traditional Council, Oba Solomon Dele Owoniyi, the Obaro Otitoleke Oweyomade 1, as he clocks 2 years in office.

Omoluabi while describing the royal father as a true father, leader and patriot says his two years in office manifests abundant deposit of God's wisdom in him and fruitfulness in the entire Kabba land.

In a congratulatory message he personally endorsed on Tuesday, the governor's aide said he is grateful to God for bringing a leader like Oba Solomon Dele Owoniyi at this point in the people's history as the paramount ruler of Kabba community, maintaining that his reign has redefined the land and her people.

"I lack words to qualify my happiness as I join our compatriots across the world to celebrate a true father, a leader, a mentor and advocate who has shown that he truly came to serve and lead his people on the path of prosperity.

"In such a very short period of time, he has demonstrated the innate capacity and passion in him to bring our dear land to a national limelight through fruitful engagement, Advocacy and negotiations.

"As a man who is in connection with his people and who understands their needs, he has used his network of connections to attract development to our land, offer our youths good living and give our sons and daughters sense of pride and honour.

"We can't thank God enough for the wisdom He has deposited in our father to pilot the affairs of our land of pride peacefully and harmoniously. As he marks a glorious second year in office, God Almighty shall strengthen him in body, spirit and soul to continue recording uncommon milestones, a feat for which generations shall speak blessing of his name" Omoluabi said.
