WAEC PAYMENT: LEKE ABEJIDE ROUNDS OFF PAYMENT IN YAGBA WEST.

The Leke Abejide WAEC payment of 2022/2023 with administrative charges has been completed in Yagba West LGA after the payment for all secondary schools across other LGAs in Yagba and Kabba Bunu Ijumu Federal Constituency was done few days back.

The disbursement of the 5th WAEC payment has been finalized by the member representing Yagba Federal Constituency, Hon. Leke Abejide across all the public and private schools in Yagba Federal Constituency and the first payment for all public schools in Kabba Bunu Ijumu Federal constituency in Kogi State.

Hon. Leke Abejide, stated that this is the 5th year of WAEC fees disbursement across Yagba east, Yagba west and Mopamuro local governments which constitutes Yagba Federal constituency.

"Today to the glory of God almighty the WAEC payment has been extended to two other local governments of the adjoining Federal constituency-Kabba Bunu and Ijumu. This is in fulfilment of my promise during the last year WAEC payment on 11th Feb 2022.

He stated that the payment of WAEC is borne out of the desire to relieve parents and guardians of the financial burden involved and in recognition of the fact that lots of hardworking students will be drop-outs therefore denied the opportunity to reach their maximum potential due to inability to afford their final examination fees.

According to Hon. Leke, the payment of WAEC in Yagba is basically to reduce gender inequality by giving every student a level playing field- Boys and Girls alike thereby no child will be forced to step down for the other due to the inability of the parents to sponsor more than one child at a time.

"I receive daily testimonies and positive remarks in appreciation of previous payments from parents, guardians, relatives and strangers both within and outside Nigeria to the glory of God. This is an encouraging trend, while I recognise that at some low points of mine, it becomes quite financially burdensome and challenging.

Hon. Leke reinstated that he won't give up as he has added another Federal constituency as beneficiaries, he stated that the financial burden is not easy but he won't give up.

He noted that the waec fees payment with all administrative charges is devoid of tribal, religious and political affiliation of any student or parents rather based on believe that education should be universal.

"To all the beneficiary students, congratulations to you all for coming this far and looking ahead to achieving wonderful dreams. I look forward to your going back to the drawing board, engaging in intense private studies, to achieving academic excellence". He said.

Hon. Leke presented the cheques to all school principals while appreciating the wonderful efforts of teachers and principals of the students for their support, and also for motivating the students to excellence in the last five years of the Waec payment.

Member representing Yagba federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Leke Abejide has released cheques for the payment of West African Examination Council (WAEC) fees for 2,015 secondary school students in Kabba-Bunu and Ijumu local government areas of Kogi state.

Presenting cheques to excited school principals of benefiting students at the Kabba township stadium on Saturday, Abejide said the gesture is in fulfillment of his promise to extend his special education intervention to other federal constituencies in the state.

He announced that the cheques covered WAEC fees and the administrative charges brought by the Kogi State Ministry of Education, adding that parents will not need to pay any dime again for their children this year.

The lawmaker went round some of the schools located in Okebukun, Iluke, Aiyetoro-Gbede, Kabba, Iyara, Ekinrin-Adde and Iyamoye where he handed the cheques to the respective principals on behalf of the benefitting students.

At the Kabba centre, where more than 10 secondary schools gathered, Abejide doled out cheques worth over 11 million Naira.

Among the 39 secondary schools captured for the WAEC fees payment, St Monica’s College, Kabba received a cheque worth N2.3 million; St Augustine’s College, Kabba got N1.9 million, LG Secondary School, Otu-Egunbe got N2.9 million while St Barnaba’s College, Kabba recieved N1.026 million cheque.

The lawmaker said he has committed over 120 million Naira to pay WAEC fees for final year students in Yagba land, his federal constituency, as well as in Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu federal constituency this year alone.

Addressing the students, Abejide recalled how he had to labour in the farm for people in order to get just N125 to pay for his WAEC fees during his secondary school days. He said in spite of that challenge of excruciating poverty, he still came out as best student of his set.

He urged the students to face their studies squarely to make enviable marks for their lives.

He explained that the money allocated for the WAEC payment was his own personal funds and not that of government, adding that his special education intervention fund was aimed at cushioning the plights of parents and students and not aimed at scoring cheap political point.

Abejide said he was making the payment purely on humanitarian ground without considerations to party leanings, tribe or religion.

The lawmaker, however, said though he started the WAEC payment when he was not elected into any position, but he was able to sustain the WAEC payment through the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on whose platform he was elected into the National Assembly and urged the people to vote for all the ADC candidates in next month general elections.

Those in the entourage of the Lawmaker were top politicians in the area including the ADC senatorial candidate, Dele Williams, the Kabba-Bunu/ Ijumu Reps candidate, Architect Salman Idris and the Kabba- Bunu House Assembly candidate, Ayodeji Olumudi

Kabba township stadium was turned into a prayer ground as parents of indigent students showered prayers on member representing Yagba federal constituency, Hon Leke Abejide for paying WAEC fees of students from outside his constituency.
