CORONA VIRUS IS REAL - AGDU
PRESS RELEASE
30th of March, 2020
CORONA VIRUS IS REAL - AGDU
The National Executive Council of Ayegunle Gbede Descendants Union under the leadership of President Ahmed-Ade Fatai want to use this medium to inform, educate and enlighten the good people of Ayegunle Gbede and the general public about the deadly virus called "Corona Virus".
The virus, Corona Virus popularly known, and called "COVID-19" was first detected in China in December, 2019. As of today, COVID-19 has no cure. However, scientists around the world are working very hard to develop a vaccine to contain and control the virus.
This virus is communicable in nature. It is easier to contract the virus from infected persons via close eyes contact, cough, sneeze, handshake etc hence the need to observe all precautionary measures released by the Federal Ministry of Health and National Centre for Disease Control, NCDC including observing social distance, wearing hand glove and face mask regularly, applying hand sanitizer often, and washing hands with clean water and soap frequently is very important.
It is regrettable to announce that more than 500, 000 people around the world have now contracted the new virus which overwhelming healthcare systems even in wealthy nations and triggering government ordered for the total lockdown all over the world.
In the United States, more than 83, 000 people have tested positive for COVID- 19, edging out Italy and China. In Nigeria, 97 people have tested positive including two sitting governors.
As at today, the global death toll from the deadly virus, Corona Virus stood at 23, 293. Although, this ugly development isn't friendly but it's the reality on ground.
We therefore, urge all sons and daughters of Ayegunle Gbede and Nigerians to observe and practice the aforementioned precautionary measures by staying safe, educate those close to them, avoid crowded environment for the time being, and stay at home as directed by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
*Corona Virus is real.* We will never be a victim by His grace.

End APC Leadership Crisis, Focus On Pressing National Issues, Faleke Advises APC Governors.
...Plot to destabilize the party will not work, 80% of the NASS House of Reps Members are with the National Chairman.
Chairman House of Representatives committee on Finance and former Lagos State Campaign Director for Buhari/Osinbajo, Rt. Hon. James Abidoun Faleke on Monday urged those involved in the plot to forcefully removed the APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole to focus on major national issues and end the current leadership crisis rocking the ruling party.
He stated that the Governors involved or any other member of APC administration should take no further punitive action but allow the matter to rest in order to give the President a very peaceful environment to operate.
The third term member of the green chamber said more than 80% of House of Representatives members are with the National Chairman and assured that plots to destabilise the ruling party APC by detractors will not succeed.
Faleke in a brief statement on monday also said there were major issues such as the hersmen rampage, Boko Haram Menace, rising unemployment, kidnapping, banditry and other national challenges that the APC should concern itself with than focusing on party leadership tussle and heating up the polity because of 2023 general election. He pleaded with party stakeholders not to do anything that would worsen the crisis in the party.
He said "More than 80% of the NASS House of Reps members are with the National Chairman. I can tell you that what the detractors want for APC will not happen.
What I expect is for all of us to give the President a very peaceful environment to operate. We have so much security issues bordering us now and I think that should be paramount in the minds of every Governor or any member of this Administration.
The price of crude oil in the international market has just dropped from $57 a barrel used in our 2020 appropriation to $31.
This should give serious concern to some of the leaders and the Governors whose main source of revenue that they come to share in Abuja every month is from Oil.
Without the revenue oil, all the programs of the state and nation will come to zero.
Payment of salaries may no longer be visible.
Rather than call for an economic session, some are busy fighting for the party matters that will not put food on the tables of the masses.
Please allow Mr President to concentrate and redirect this country to the parth of progress.
I do not expect that some party members will start heating up the polity all because of 2023. Nobody knows who will be alive then" he concluded.

Oshiomhole Breaks APC Govs' Forum's Rank.
Romanus Ugwu, Abuja
There may be temporal respite for the embattled national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, as he has won the support of 13 APC Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) after breaking their ranks.
A reliable source close to the pro-Oshiomhole governors’ camp told Daily Sun in confidence that as a result of the crack, about 13 APC governors had decamped and are were now solidly on the side of the former Edo governor.
Our source further revealed that the pro-Oshiomhole governors had already declared war against the duo of Ekiti and Kebbi states governors, vowing to remove them both as Governors’ Forum and Progressive Governors’ Forum officials respectively.
According to our source, “after all these days, the other faction of the NWC has been parading a letter it claimed was approved by Mr President to convene NEC meeting; all the Progressive Governors loyal to Oshiomhole have gone to meet Mr President who denied authorising such a letter.
“The president assured them that he is fully with Oshiomhole and not part of any plot to remove him. He also told them that he believes in him.
“Some of the governors that were previously anti-Oshiomhole decamped because they initially thought that the governor of Kebbi State, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu meant well in his schemes. They realised that the plot against Oshiomhole was not good for the party and an unnecessary distraction to Mr President.
“They essentially noted that these governors fighting Oshiomhole are working for their selfish, personal interests against the interest of the party. They said that the forces against Oshiomhole were based on flimsy excuses of the claim that he is a dictator and very highhanded. Most of them realised that those against him were based on mundane issues.
“That was how the pro-Oshiomhole governors resolved to support him and will not be part of any antics to remove him. They have constituted themselves into a camp to battle the anti-Oshiomhole governors.
“They said that having tried everything to make the other governors understand and failed largely because they think that they are more PGF than them, they are going to prove to them that they don’t have monopoly of anything.
“Let me confirm to you that 13 governors are now backing and fully in support of Oshiomhole. They are not only going to fight them but, I can confirm to you that they have resolved to move against Bagudu who has been using the PGF DG to embarrass Oshiomhole.
“They want to show them that Mohammed Badaru and Kayode Fayemi of Jigawa and Ekiti states respectively and Bagudu are not the only governors. They have resolved to put a machinery in motion to remove Bagudu as chairman of PGF and Fayemi as governors’ forum chairman. They now see them as agents of destabilisation,” the source noted.
Similarly, the embattled comrade has replied his detractors that resigning his office is the last option he is considering.
Comrade Oshiomhole has come under severe pressure from party chieftains, some members of his National Working Committee (NWC), some governors on the platform of Progressive Governors’ Forum, protesters and other stakeholders to honourably quit his exulted office.
However, apparently replying his detractors through a source in his camp, he said: “How could anyone think that Oshiomhole can resign? Quitting is the last thing Oshiomhole will do. In the contrary, he is more prepared to battle his detractors more aggressively now than before.”
Meanwhile, the camp of the APC boss has failed to confirm if he would report to office on Monday after securing the court order in Kano State to vacate his suspension.

Embattled party chair fails to resume despite Kano court order
The total occupation of the secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) by combatant stern-looking security agents took disturbing dimension on Friday, when members of secretariat staff, journalists covering the party and personal aides to the embattled National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, were denied entrance into the secretariat.
Journalists, staff and visitors that arrived the secretariat in the early hours of Friday were shocked when they were turned back from the entrance gate by the security agents without any serious reason other than measures to secure the secretariat
However, there was mild drama when Oshiomhole’s aides who drove in, in a tinted Toyota Land Cruiser Jeep, were denied entry when they approached the entrance gate of the secretariat still under lock and key.
Even after the workers wound down the glass of the car window to identify themselves, they were still denied entry and directed to move away from the gate of the APC secretariat.
The situation was worrisome almost throughout the day as no fewer than 50 battle-ready armed policemen were strategically positioned within the secretariat vicinity perhaps to avert any breakdown of law and order.
They had arrived the secretariat with no fewer then four-patrol vehicles and over eight power bikes whose riders were kitted in an intimidating black attire and hoods.
While journalists stayed at safe distance from the entrance gate, workers from the anti-Oshiomohle’s faction were on standby, monitoring all the drama happening in the secretariat and feeding their bosses with the development.
The presence of the security agents, parading the street expectedly scared motorists and others who use the popular Blantyre street, housing the secretariat and two popular hotels.
From morning until few minutes to 6.00pm and with constant deployment and arrival of more security agents, there was still palpable tension over the possibility of both factions engaging in a bloody clash.
As at the official close of work, the embattled National Chairman was not sighted at the secretariat as members of the National Working Committee (NWC) loyal to him had boasted on Thursday that he will resume on Friday after obtaining an order from a Federal High Court in Kano vacating his earlier suspension by an FCT High Court in Abuja.

National Assembly approves Kogi’s request for $100m loan from AfDB
The Kogi State government says it has received the approval of the National Assembly to obtain a foreign loan of $100 million (N36 billion).
The state Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mr Kingsley Fanwo, confirmed this to newsmen in Lokoja on Thursday.
Àccording to him, the state needs the loan to establish a food processing zone and to modernize its agricultural processes.
“The request has been approved by the National Assembly. The project is expected to create over two million direct and indirect jobs.
“The proposed Kogi Staple Crops Zone and Agricultural Modernisation Project is set to position Kogi State and indeed Nigeria as the food corridor of Africa and an industrial hub,” Fanwo said.
Fanwo further explained that the loan facility would now be obtained from the African Development Bank (AfDB) and not the World Bank, as earlier announced.
He expressed the gratitude of the state government to the leadership and members of the National Assembly for their show of patriotism in approving the loan for the project which, he said, would redefine the future of Nigeria as a nation.
“The Kogi State Staple Crops Processing Zone and Agricultural Modernisation Project is aimed at making the state the food corridor of Africa and to also make the nation’s biofuel plan a reality,” he said.

Military era better than Nigeria’s current democracy – Senator Smart Adeyemi
Senator Smart Adeyemi representing Kogi West Senatorial District on Wednesday argued that the system of democracy being practiced in Nigeria currently has been criminalized.
He stated this while making contributions to “a bill for an Act to establish the National Electoral Offences Commission and for Other Related matters.”
Adeyemi gave instances how hooligans emerge as leaders, noting that the situation has painted Nigeria’s democracy in bad light to the extent that people look at all politicians as criminals.
He said:
“Mr. President, when people of questionable character become leaders, then what is the future of that country. In fact, I am compelled to say, military era is better than Nigeria’s democracy currently.
“When you talk about maladministration and misappropriation of public funds, it emanates from people who have criminal records, people who have no background were elected or forced themselves into power.
Mr. President, this is one of the best bills that we must all support.
“We are living witnesses to bad governance and bad representation in parliament. We must support this bill to bring good people into power, not charlatans, not ragamuffin.
“People who have criminal records come to the National Assembly to make laws.
Reacting to the statement, Senate President, Dr Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan said, military era was not preferable to democracy as posited by Senator Adeyemi.
He said that the Kogi lawmaker was entitled to his opinion, saying that he made the comment in his personal capacity.
“The position of this chambers is that democracy is better than military era and Senator Adeyemi is entitled to his opinion”, Senate President noted.
