Ajanah's Death: Ogembe Mourns, Says its a Monumental Loss.

Senator Ahmed Ogembe has described the death of Justice Nasiru Ajanah who died in Abuja on Sunday as a monumental loss that also came with rude shock.

In a statement he personally signed and made available to news men in Abuja, Ogembe recalled that the late Chief Jugde was an astute and illustrious jurist who placed the sanctity of his job over and above selfish gains adding that late Justice Ajanah possessed  sound legal mind and has left indelible contributions to the nation’s jurisprudence.

"Justice Ajanah was a symbol of equity and boldness as exemplified in his characteristics and disposition from the much we know of him. He was a peaceful but bold jurist who worked very hard to build bridges and left indelible mark in the nation judicial system"

While admitting the demise as a great loss to the people of Kogi central where the late Justice Ajanah hailed from, Ogembe said "the central senatorial district has lost one of her illustrious son and a proud one for that matter, but its a great loss to Kogi state and the nation  in general".

Senator Ogembe prayed for peaceful repose of the departed Chief Judge saying; "May God grant the late Justice Ajanah a peaceful repose and grant his family, the legal community especially the bench and all his well wishers the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss".

Tribute to a great leader and good person, Mr. Jimmy Olumudi

Good people die everyday. Yet not all of them affirm for us the goodness in humanity and leadership the way the late former Assistant Comptroller General (ACG) of Customs, Mr. Jimmy Olumudi  did.

He passed away and left a legacy of positive experiences for anyone who took the time to know him, which wasn’t a hard thing to do. Most likely you don’t know Mr Jimmy Olumudi but you can learn from the legacy he left. He was an unsung hero.

His passion and hard work led him to become a great leader especially within the community with the ability to manage people and minds. The fact is, we have too few examples of great leader like him.

However, we have the privilege of celebrating someone who epitomizes leadership, someone whose life reflects a heart of service and commitment to faith, family, friends, and certainly his community and humanity at large.

Mr Jimmy Olumudi was a man of many facets, Altruist, Leader, Philanthropist, and a fulfilled career officer of the Nigerian Custom Service.

A contemplative man by nature he took family, business, and community to the heart of his existence.
You will be greatly missed but your footprints can not be easily forgotten nor wiped away in the sand of life.

My heartfelt condolences to the Olumudi family, KDU and the entire Kabba community as I pray that God will give you strength in this period and beyond and to rest him in peace.

-Senator Dino Melaye

SIR JIMMY OLUMUDI, PASSAGE OF A FINE OFFICER AND QUINTESSENTIAL COMMUNITY LEADER...Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi

The news of the unexpected and painful passage on to glory of our dearly beloved compatriot, quintessential community leader, diligent Assistant Comptroller General of Customs rtd, social engineer and reliable stalwart of All Progressive Congress, Sir Jimmy Olumudi came as a rude shock but has continued to reverberate and painfully sound in my ears and mind. The sad event which took place in the unforgettable after of Thursday 26th June, 2020 is one that has left the entire Okere royal family, Owe people, Okun community, Kogi indegene and entire nation sad, perplexed, touched and bereaved.

Sir Jimmy Olumudi, a committed Catholic, loving father, responsive Boss and responsible leader is(was) one individual who spent his little above seventy years serving humanity with such unequal humility, ACG Jimmy Olumudi is(was) a patriotic Nigerian who served the nation at the Nigeria Customs Service with candour, demeanour, integrity, commitment and retired very meritoriously, as an Assistant Comptroller General of Customs. His uniqueness and outstanding traits are embedded in his humble disposition, benevolent characteristics and uncompromising tendency.

My first encounter with the iconic man and fulfilled elder statesman, was as a Bulletin Boy at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Kabba, almost three decades ago. He was such a generous serving customs officer that he would ask that I keep the change whenever he picked a Bulletin, no matter the denomination of the currency, besides his generosity at the church gate, sir Olumudi was the biggest donor for any church or community donations that time. As a former student union leader, I had course to interact with him severaly almost two decades ago, one unforgettable one was with Henry Irewole(then President of Okun students and now a Customs officer) and Motunrayo Alamoh(the now popular Òlòwò Sibi presenter on Africa Magic Yoruba), Daddy Olumudi in a short, modelled us, mentored us and encourage us into the future we are now proud of.

After meritorious retirement, Sir Jimmy Olumudi shocked the entire Owe people and his friends when he refused to live in the luxurious VI Lagos, alluring Maitama Abuja or any part of the world like people of his calibre do, he imbued the act of patriotism and returned home, established industries such as Jivco Bread, Jivcon Hotels, Jivco Quarry and many more, all in the bid to create employment for the teeming unemployed youths of Kogi State. Sir Jimmy Olumudi stayed behind at home, nurtured a business he would never need a kobo from, grew people he would never need their help, established social clubs he would never seek help from, mentored youths that were never his biological children and helped sustain an egalitarian society he didn't wait to benefit from.

As a retired Assistant Comptroller General of Customs who ordinarily should always return there to get contracts and favour, he once said ever since he retired from Customs, he never stepped his feet on the soil of Customs again, that was the level of contentment and principles he exhibited. In the community, one will expect a typical Nigerian highly placed and well connected like Sir Olumudi to demonstrate affluence, abuse privileges and take advantage of his contact to oppres, acquire wealth and also be deep rooted in self inclined political activities, he rather humbled himself, carry himself with every sense of humility and demonstrated very uncommon candour.

It is impossible to pen the best words to describe a man who assisted without noise, a man who gave without notice and a man who lived for others to live. As mortal we are confident that sir Jimmy Olumudi has done his part and now resting at the feet of Jesus, we are consoled by his useful life and immeasurable generosity, we immortalize him in our hearts as we remember his good works, we celebrate rather than mourning because he came, he saw and he conquered.

Adieu Okèrè lila
Adieu Owe'mèlèbò
Adieu Sir Jimmy Olumudi

PAINFUL EXIT OF AN OUTSTANDING PROFESSIONAL, VISIONARY, PACE-SETTING COMMUNITY LEADER: CHIEF JIMMY OLUMUDI (1948 - 2020)

It is with a deep sense of pain that I give this Tribute in honour of a most distinguished and illustrious son of Oweland; Chief Jimmy Olumudi, who passed away yesterday, Friday, June 26th, 2020.

The untimely death of our very dear, loving and compassionate Chief Jimmy Olumudi is not only an irreparable loss to the entire Olumudi Family, but also, to every son and daughter of Oweland.

Indeed, in his entire lifetime; in public service, post-retirement and private engagements, Chief Jimmy Olumudi was always committed to the good, and general well being of every Owe person, as well as his passion for the growth and development of Kabba.

At every point in his successful career in the Nigerian Customs Service; whence he rose to the rank of Assistant Comptroller-General, he leveraged on his position, influence and opportunities to facilitate the employment of many Owe sons into the strategic government agency. Ever driven by strong passion and desire for Kabba and indigenes, he replicated same gestures whilst he was the pioneer Chief Executive of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

Following his glorious  retirement from public service in 2004, Chief Jimmy Olumudi continued to render uncommon and unusual support to many Owe sons and daughters. As a most respected community leader, unknown to many people, even in retirement, he was still committed to the career progression, employment facilitation and economic empowerment of some indigenes of Oweland.

Though painful that Oweland has lost a visionary, selfless and  altruistic personality at a time when his legendary drive and enviable passion for community development is most needed, but we take solace that he lived a most fulfilling life. In all his endeavor and relationship with people, he lived a life of unimaginable humility, unapologetic desire and quest for meaningful community development, as well as service to God Almighty and humanity.

It is my prayer that our Creator will grant him eternal peace in His bosom. Also, I pray that God Almighty will grant his immediate and the entire Olumudi Family the grace to bear the irreparable loss, Amen.

Bunu Youth hails Iluke- Aiyetoro Kiri-Abugi-Eggan Road Construction Award

The president of Bunu Youth Forum, Otunba Kingsley Mokikan has expressed appreciation to the Federal Government on the recent award of the Iluke-Aiyetoro Kiri-Abugi-Eggan road.

Otunba Mokikan explained the importance of the road to the communities along the Bunu axis of Kabba/Bunu local government area of Kogi state.

In his expression said that reducing the distance between people, markets, services and knowledge or simply getting people connected is a great part of what economic growth is all about.

"Although virtual connectivity has become increasingly important today with the emergence of new communication avenues- which we still lack in major part of Bunu land, a good and reliable transport network remains vital. There is a very strong positive correlation between a community's economic development and the quality of its road network.

Why applauding the decision of the Federal Executive Council in considering the road for attention at this time, thanked everyone who has contributed in one way or the other in ensuring that the road construction is not only approved and awarded but to also appropriated and funds mobilised for implementation.

"The Bunu people of note wants to appreciate the efforts and initiative of the Otunba of Bunu Kingdom, Senator Dino Melaye who have consistently built the road in the budget and following up which today is finally seeing the light of the day".

"We also thank every stakeholder in the present administration both at the state and Federal towards the actualisation of this laudable project".

"We pray that God will reward and repay everyone's input".

"Bunu people can not thank you enough as we earnestly await the commencement of work at the site soonest" he concluded.

ILUKE-KIRI-KUPA ROAD CONSTRUCTION: Olowodola commends President Buhari & GYB for this dividend of democracy.

Kogi philanthropist and All Progressive Congress leader in Kabba, Elder Benjamin Olowodola has commended the APC led government at the Federal and State levels for the effective collaborative efforts that has resulted in the award of contract for the construction of the almost elusive Bunu-Kupa road, a road that is strategically at the centre of the economy of the villages around this axis. He says the decision and subsequent approval has brought sweet taste and pride of his participation in politics back.

The Elder statesman who is reputed to be a community developer and one that  has spent hundreds of millions in that regard says he is exited because the long suffering for APC is yielding fruitful results for the benefit of the masses. Elder Olowodola describes this decision of the federal government as timely and unprecedented to these our people that have been neglected for many decades.

*When the news of the federal executive council approval for the construction of the road came to me, it came as a soothing surprise and pleasant act that is timely as we come out of the scourge of coronavirus, the best meaning that I can give to this good news is that government of President Buhari has the people of Kogi West at heart, I commend him seriously for that, I also commend our Senator who didn't stop lobbying until the project came to fruition and I thank the Governor too for all the support he gave. The resultant effect is that a section of my people are seeing dividend of democracy which has a positive spiral effect on the entire people of Kogi State* the Elder statesman says

Chief Olowodola however  charged the communities around the road to own the project by giving all possible support to the contractor when construction starts. He also seized this opportunity to appeal to the Federal authorities to accelerate action towards the immediate take off of Kabba- Egbe- Ilorin road.

#25Bn ILUKE-ABUGI-EGGAN ROAD: GYB/SSA synergy has liberated communities from Economic doldrums... Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi

A prominent All Progressive Congress stalwart in Kogi West, Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi has said that the political synergy between His Excellency Alh Yahaya Bello, executive Governor of Kogi state and the Senator representing Kogi West senatorial district, Senator Smart Adeyemi is producing very uncommon results in terms of quality dividends of democracy.

The politician and Chairman of Stardom Global Television says the political harmony between the two leaders is the needed tonic to turn around the futune of the people positively in the area of infrastructure and general dividends of democracy. Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi says the award of contract for the construction of Iluke-abugi-eggan road is a deliberate political will of the duo using the federal government to rescue the people of that belt from ageless economic doldrums into unimaginable prosperity.

He says he is not surprised that the efforts of Senator Smart Adeyemi is yielding fruitful results for the people of Kogi West and the state. He says Sen Smart Adeyemi has always been a passionate and aggressive promoter of development of the people and that this singular project is a manifestation of of the right decision to re-elect Sen Smart Adeyemi back to the Senate.

*I am particularly excited today about the giant strides of the APC government in Kogi West,  however I'm not really surprised that such a gigantic project as Iluke-Abugi-Eggan road has been approved for construction, because I know I have in Sen Adeyemi, a detailed, focused, patriotic and outstanding lawmaker who understand process and would stop at nothing to bring development to his people. Today, his tenacity, follow-up and astute conformist representation has liberated many villages between Iluke and Kupa from ageless economic  deprivation into limitless opportunities the road will open to them. I therefore commend the federal government of Nigeria, Kogi State Government and indeed Kogi West Senato. I congratulate the people of the communities and indeed Kogi State* Omoluabi says

The media entrepreneur urged the people's Senator not to rest on performance but to continue to deliver to the people as he has always done

SUPREME COURT'S REVALIDATION OF MUSA WADA AS PDP GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE: NO VICTOR, NO VANQUISHED- Teejay Yusuf

With utmost gratitude to God Almighty, I wish to use this medium to congratulate Engr. Musa Wada, the entire leadership and members of the Peoples Democratic Party, over our victory at the Supreme court, this morning, regarding who is the actual winner of the party's Governorship primaries.

By its ruling,  the Supreme court upheld the decision of the Appeal Court, which previously declared and  affirmed Engr. Musa Wada, as the rightful, bonafide candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the Nov. 2019 Governorship election.

Indeed, the apex Court's judgement is a well-deserved victory for all and every member of our great party in Kogi state and the country. Regardless of the situation and circumstances that may have led to the long-drawn battle, which in some ways, threatened the unity and peace of our party, I wish to state that as a big, happy family, the Kogi state PDP remains connected, united as a solid and potent force in our sustained and resolute resolve to free Kogites from economic deprivation, serial and deepening hunger, derelict infrastructures and fast-decaying moral ethos and values.

I enjoin all party faithful and leaders across the length and breadth of Kogi state to know that there is no victor, no vanquished. Every party member from all communities, towns, LGAs, Federal Constituencies and Senatorial Districts are winners.

As we forge ahead in our firm bid to recover, through the Judiciary, the mandate that was freely, enthusiastically given to Engr. Musa Wada and Hon. Sam Aro and our great party, I solicit the collaboration of every one of us. I charge every patriotic member of the Kogi PDP family to see the Supreme court judgement as not only the turning point but also the necessary tonic needed to spur us, deepen the party and re-invigorate members towards recovering our stolen mandate. No doubt, we all will have a whole lot to benefit when by His Grace, the Judiciary RIGHT the WRONG by declaring and returning our candidate; Engr. Musa Wada, and the PDP as the RIGHTFUL WINNER of the Kogi state Governorship election.

God bless us all!

Aso Rock Villa As Giadom Gets Green Light From President Buhari Over Party's Leadership

Despite the hurdles before him, Giadom is said to have found favour before Buhari and may emerge the party's new chairman on Thursday if things go as planned.

The crisis in the All Progressives Congress is set to take a new twist after the party moved its National Executive Committee meeting slated for Thursday to the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The meeting, which was initially scheduled for March 17, 2020, will now hold at the Villa to enable President Muhammadu Buhari and other party leaders take final decision on the challenges facing the party.

Sources within the APC hinted that Buhari may have endorsed Victor Giadom, who could be announced as the new National Chairman of the party on that day despite the forces against him in the group.

The sources said Adams Oshiomhole had lost the backing of party leaders following his leadership tussle with Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, which led to the exit of the latter and his supporters from the APC.

Giadom, who is said to have won the backing of President Buhari, has been at the centre of the crisis, parading himself as the new Acting National Chairman despite a court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Friday restraining him from doing so.

Giadom was subsequently suspended by the state's chapter of the party over alleged acts of gross infractions of the APC constitution.

But despite the hurdles before him, Giadom is said to have found favour before Buhari and may emerge the party's new chairman on Thursday if things go as planned.

Recall that the whole crisis within the party started after Oshiomhole was suspended as a member of the APC by the party in Edo State.

A Federal Capital Territory High Court in Jabi then ordered his removal from the party, a ruling backed by an appellate court.

He has since been making frantic moves to reclaim his position in the party to no avail so far.

A former governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, a deputy chairman of the APC, who should have stepped into Oshiomhole's shoes, is currently on a life support machine in a Lagos hospital after being infected with Coronavirus

This has further fuelled the crisis in the party and paved the way for Giadom and others to jostle for the top position in the APC.

North-Central PDP Youth welcomes Governor Obaseki to PDP

  •  Passes vote of confidence on Prince Secondus led leadership of the party

I want to unbehalf of PDP youth leadership, North Central, welcome His Excellency, Governor Obaseki, the executive Governor of Edo state to the only truly pan African, the largest and most formidable political party with unbeatable political success history in Nigeria. It is indeed a great day for our dear party as well as His Excellency and his supporters for the much needed relationship for the overall interest of Edo people in particular and democracy in general.

There is no gain saying that Edo people deserve the best in a democracy and the Peoples Democratic Party has for a long time been a true and reliable platform for the good people of Edo state. The days and years ahead is going to be much better for Edo state under PDP.
I want to sieze this opportunity to also congratulate, appreciate and commend the National leadership of our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party, ably led by our ever focused, dynamic and a man with the Midas touch, Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus. The feat you have achieved within the time you took over the reign of leadership of our great party is of highly commendable standard.
This have brought about the very water tight unity and coopration among party men and women. It has also brought about transparency and accountability in the management of the largest political party in the Sub Sahara Africa among other things.
Above all, under the leadership of our Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, the Peoples Democratic Party has won more States, from Eleven (11) States to now Seventeen (17) PDP controlled States in Nigeria and this is despite that many of the other elections were manipulated and undemocratically taken by the ruling party which we strongly believe in you leadership support to ensure that the mandate of the good people of kogi state, given to Engr. Musa Wada and Chief Sam Aro in the November 16th 2019 election, presently at the court of appeal is retrieved.

Of course, a tree does not make a forest and it is on that note that I must commend the entire National exco of PDP especially, the office of the Publicity Secretary, ably held by Hon. Kola Ologbondiyan whose dexterity of the job of journalism has in no small measure lifted up the PDP to the enviable hight we are now. Not forgetting the other officers and individuals too numerous to mention but whose contribution has helped move our great party forward.
We therefore wish to say unequivocally that we have as critical stakeholders of PDP, we hereby declare vote of confidence in the present National exco of the PDP and as such recommend, suggest  and support that the National leadership of the PDP as it stands today deserve and be given opportunity to have another term in office so that with the way our party has fared under them, we are convinced that they can bring our party back to the ruling status come 2023 and beyond. This is a vote of confidence on the National leadership of PDP ably led by Prince Uche Secondus.

God bless the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
God bless Nigeria.

Lagos politics: Ambode, Ashafa, Abike Dabiri tipped to replace Late Oshinowo

Akinwunmi Ambode may just about to bounce back into political reckoning in Lagos state - He has been tipped as one of the likely replacements for Late Senator Bayo Oshinowo in the National Assembly - Recent political happenings in Lagos suggests Ambode has made peace with party leaders in the state. A report by Daily Trust indicates that silent agitations have commenced for the replacement of Late Senator Bayo Oshinowo. Oshinowo, a former majority leader in the Lagos state House of Assembly died after a brief illness suspected to be COVID-19 at the age of 64. His sudden death has therefore created a vacuum in the upper chamber of the National Assembly. Though the process for his replacement has not started, names of possible replacement are already flying within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) with five people already been tipped as his likely replacement.

Edo election 2020: Three APC chieftains drag Obaseki to court over alleged certificate forgery Honourable Abike Dabiri, chairperson of NIDCOM is also one of those tipped to replace Late Osinowo. According to the report, they include Dr Tola Kasali, a two-time commissioner in the state; the immediate past governor, Mr Akinwumi Ambode, Senator Oshinowo’s predecessor, Gbenga Ashafa, House of Representatives member Jimi Benson, and Honourable Abike Dabiri, the current Director-General of Nigeria in Diaspora Commission. A public affairs commentator quoted in the report, Segun Adegoke, said any of the five APC chieftains could emerge as a favourite of the party.

Though booted out of the APC last year, Ambode seems to have made peace with party leaders in Lagos in recent times. The former governor appended his signature to a communique recently signed by party stakeholders in the state. A move that suggests he has now bowed to supremacy. Ambode was said to have annoyed the powers that be in the state, hence, the decision not to give him a return ticket in the 2019 governorship election.

Setback for Obaseki as court stops Edo govt from probing Oshiomhole over alleged corruption Shortly after he was booted out, the former governor was hounded by anti-corruption agencies, but all that seems to be in the past now. Although Ambode is from Epe which is under Lagos Central Senatorial District, he can still be in the Senate to represent Lagos East.

Due to its cosmopolitan nature and the apparent aloofness of the average Lagos voter, the state party leaders have a penchant for moving loyal politicians from one constituency or senatorial district to another.

A former speaker of the Lagos state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeyemi Ikuforiji was from Epe, but at some point was moved to Ikeja federal constituency to contest election in the state. Meanwhile, following the death of Senator Osinowo, the National Assembly complex has again been shut down over fears of suspected COVID-19 cases. A circular signed and released by a deputy director in the National Assembly, Titus Jatau, said the complex will be shut for two days for fumigation.

COVID-19: THANK-YOU-NOTE TO GOVERNOR BELLO, DOCTORS, RELIGIOUS AND SCHOOL LEADERS

By: David Alfred-Dogwo / June 16, 2020

Now that the world bears witness that Kogi state is Covid19 free, my "Tuesday shout-out" goes to the executive governor of Kogi state Alhaji Yahaya Bello and his trusted and capable assistant in the person of HE Chief Edward David Onoja who doubles as the Chairman Covid 19 and Lassa Fever Squadro Committee along side Dr.. Saka Haruna HC of Health, Dr Ojotule the State’s Chief Epidiomologist and other experts drawn from various fields.

It is their sacrifices that we continue to have a well-functioning society with all of our needs being met without any out break of coronavirus in the state.

A big "shout-out" also goes those who created faceless Covid-19 Whatsapp groups and Facebook accounts in the state telling the world that Governor Yahaya Bello was not doing anything about Coronavirus. It was because of you that Yahaya Bello and his team became stronger.

As we head toward the end of June of 2020, none of us would have predicted that Governor Bello will defeat the enemies who our new decade would start out like it has — no one would have even gotten close.

Our family has been grateful for the state and local officials and the wise decisions they made early on, inspite of criticism from all sides.

Thank you to school leadership and administration in the state for not holding school and school trips. Inconvenient though it may be for us as parents, we don’t need our middle-schooler bringing something home that could affect our younger child or older family members.

Thank you to Kogi health care workers, police officers, grocery store workers and many other individuals during this time who continue to work so bravely without giving a second thought to their own well-being.

Thank you to churches and mosques throughout the area, which then wisely moved all services and activities to online only. Thanks to you, many in our communities will not risk being exposed during their times of worship. And thanks to you for reaching out to help those who are most vulnerable.

Thank you to our villages, cities and state leadership, which involves hundreds of leaders who worked day and night to do everything they can to help us through this time of crisis. As we are now learning, the worst may be yet to come, so we appreciate their leadership in days ahead.

Lastly, a big thank you to the neighbors, friends, family and church/mosque family we all know and love. I believe that the worst of times has the potential to bring out the best in us. We have seen neighbors helping neighbors and those who have extra reaching out to those who do not have enough.

It is heartwarming to see the best of people coming out throughout these period. Clearly we’ve never seen a pandemic of this magnitude anywhere on earth, though none here in the state. And clearly we have a long way to go. But if early signs are any indication at all, we’re going to continue to see the best of the governor and his team, our friends and neighbors throughout.

Group rejects the travesty of judgment conceding land situated along the Niger-Benue River area to Igalaland

The Oworo Foundation condemns and rejects the travesty of judgment conceding land situated along the Niger-Benue River area to Igalaland.
This was contained in a press statement issued by the Executive Secretary of the Foundation,  Mr. Kolade Umoru

Mr. Kolade Umoru who stated that the attention of The Oworo Foundation has been drawn to the Judgment delivered by the Federal High Court of Nigeria, sitting at Lokoja with suit No. FHC/LKJ/CS/43/2017, which confers the exercise of rights and payments of entitlements such as dues, compensation, rents, Royalties on land situated along the Niger-Benue River area on the Attah of Igala.

According to the statement, the Foundation noticed with dismay the claim of ownership and overlordship by the Attah of Igala over the land along the Niger-Benue River since 1841 and the collection of royalties and tributes from the inhabitants of the land.

It was further stated that the Foundation, perceives the above claim by the Attah of Igala as unfounded, mischievous and inconsistent with the history of the Oworo people who are aboriginal inhabitants of the Niger-Benue Confluence area.

"The Oworo Foundation hereby vehemently state that the Oworo people dissociate self from any act of purported transaction on land with the Attah of Igala in form of compensation, rent or royalty of any kind".

Mr. Kolade Umoru while speaking with our source did that "It is pertinent to note that Oworo who are the aborigines of Lokoja area Pre 1841, has never paid any tribute or royalty to the Attah of Igala and any act of purported sale or transaction in respect of our land is tantamount to stealing and Land speculation as he does not possess the right to do so".

Perusing through the Federal High court's judgment, he said "we observed that it was devoid of all reasonable fairness as the Oworo people who are the aborigines of the Niger-Benue Area were not Co-Defendants in the suit".

"This reminds one of the unfortunate incidence of the Berlin conference 1884 in which the balkanization of Africa was carried out by the Europeans without the consent and presence of African Stakeholders".

"At this critical period that Nigeria is grappling with issues of ethnicity and minority question, and concerted efforts are being made to forge unity among the diverse ethnic groups, the Federal High court's judgment is capable of diving a huge blow on these efforts thereby deepening the already existing ethnic lines".

The Foundation therefore, condemns and rejects the travesty of judgment in its entirety and will do everything within the ambit of the law to challenge it.

Kogi State Commissioner for Finance and Budget Planning, Asiwaju Asiru Idris has described as unfortunate the brazen attacks by gunmen within days in Isanlu and along Lokoja-Abuja Road in an interactive session as the Personality on Patriots Chat on Okun Patriots Platform. He declared the sad incidents as a  devastating personal loss while stating that His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello is not a man who shy away from challenges and currently rigging the security architecture and doing everything possible to restore the confidence of Kogites in the ability of government to guarantee the security of lives and properties. He assured there will be improvement in the coming weeks.

Asiwaju Asiru Idris asserted that the pre-GYB era in terms of security of lives and property is more brutal, heinous and porous than the commendable milestones under the present administration.

He said that the government is indeed perturbed and heartbroken by the recent crime and criminality, but assured  that the Governor is leaving no stone unturned to make sure sanity returns.

As an award winner on Security, the Governor has charged the various security agencies in the state to roll up their sleeves, using resources and the networks from the headquarters to make sure all lapses in our security architecture is not only blocked but devise a strategic surveillance, intelligence gathering means to over run the criminals and their sinister tendencies.

On the concerns expressed by some individuals on the debt status of the State, Asiwaju Asiru Idris declared that Kogi State's debt is sustainable as Kogi State Debt Sustainability Analysis at the end of the 2019 financial year is 110.5%. And the Fiscal Sustainability Plan recommended 250% while World Bank SFTAS PforR recommended 140%.

Asiwaju Asiru Idris said, bailout and refunds were used for specific purposes with disbursements published in line with the State government's commitment to probity and accountability.
'What the LGA staff are taking today is as a result of the allocation and other revenues coming into their coffers coupled with the reality that LGAs are over staffed; a hard fact many are avoiding. We pray for improved revenue so that they can pay more. ' Asiwaju Asiru Idris pronounced.
In response to complaints arising from the screening exercise, Asiwaju Asiru Idris said they are not new issues as issues come up everyday because the civil service is a continuum. Some issues happened last month. Some will still happen next month. The issue of trying to shortchange the system is serious. So we will keep addressing them. 'Recall, former Minister of Finance Mrs Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala started the issue of ghost workers and up till now,the present Minister of Finance Hajia Zainab S. Ahmed is still battling with it.

Reacting to claims that the Omi Ricemill Project is a mirage, Asiwaju Asiru Idris said the primary reason why Government invested in the project was to create employment and since the project started operations, it has been able to keep over 500 direct and indirect Kogites in steady employment, hence the sustainability plan is working perfectly. He asserted that though the secondary reason is to generate IGR, once the privatization process is put in place then expected steady income from the mill will be a reality. The project was well thought but at this stage, the state needs to consider privatization because in order for the mill to produce at optimal capacity, operational funds of over 2b is required for the mill to source raw material.
For uninterrupted production, 3000 tons of paddy rice is required per month at N170,000 per ton and at least 5 months stock raw materials are needed.
With the private sector, there are intervention funds available from CBN to cater for raw material purchasing called Paddy Aggregation Scheme that can only be accessed by the private sector.
Asiwaju Asiru Idris posited that Omi Ricemill is a massive and legacy project with multifaceted benefits capable of solving existential problems of unemployment, food insecurity and uninspiring Economic outlook around Okunland majorly.
He therefore declared that it is a miscarriage of judgement to say nothing tangible has been done or call it's benefits a mirage.

On the plight of pensioners in the State, the Commissioner for Finance said those cleared have been paid last month with a request for details of any individual yet to be paid while expressing the government's desire to clear all pension related debts and backlogs as the finances of the state improves,
He declared that just last week, the State inaugurated the KOGI STATE PENSION COMMISSION to take care of both the state and local government pensioners which in essence means commencement of Contributory Pension Scheme for a lasting solution.

On Osara Farms, some investors from Turkey were received and they have visited the Greenhouse Project to see how they can be of help.
The decision of the State is to privatise the farm project and also to expand it on a PPP model.
The investors will be coming back by July to kick start the expansion job and training of our youths.

Asiwaju Asiru Idris asserted there are marginal improvements in advancing the livelihood and wellbeing of Kogites despite the enormous challenges at hand. He noted that indisputably, there are still more grounds to cover.   But if perfection can't be attained, excellence is largely commendable.

He assured that when the conscientiously laid down plans in the Agricultural sector, youth and women empowerment and mineral resources development are consummated, the economic renaissance as envisaged in the New direction blueprint would have been achieved and Kogites will be happy for such beneficial strides.
He craved the understanding, patience and prayers of Kogites for the government to enable it actualize the numerous programs in place for the overall development of the State.

Unseating Bayelsa Governor, Deputy, and Timi Alaibe's Love for Legal Suicide

By William Jumbo

Former boss of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Chief Timi Alaibe's bid to use the Supreme Court to unseat the Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri and his Deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo is a legal exercise certain to end in futility, if his trajectory in the courts is anything to go by.

Recall that Timi Alaibe's latest legal Oddessy began when he dragged the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Senator Douye Diri, then PDP Governorship candidate, to the Federal High Court, Yenagoa, challenging
the legality of the party's primary election held on 3rd September, 2019. His disagreement was with the conduct of the adhoc delegates' election which produced the three-man delegates.  He also challenged the inclusion of
the then newly elected councilors, chairmen and their deputies as delegates.

However, after a Federal High
Court sitting in Port Harcourt and a Bayelsa State High Court declined jurisdiction and dashed his hopes of stopping the primary election, left in the cold like a rain-beaten chicken, Alaibe decided to participate in the election.

Sadly, after spending millions of dollars to buy up the delegates, Alaibe still lost.

After his monumental loss at the PDP primaries, Alaibe, quite unfortunately, joined forces with the All Progressives Congress (APC) a party he dumped less than a year earlier, to rejoin PDP for the sake of winning her governorship ticket.

Interestingly, after teaming up with APC, Alaibe yet again returned to the Federal High Court, urging the court to nullify the same PDP primary election he lost.

Shortly after filing the suit in September 2019, he abandoned same and began working with opposition elements in the PDP to rig the governorship election in favour of APC. Chief Timi Alaibe was among the many PDP chieftains, including some former deputy governors of the state, who on February 13, 2020, stormed Yenegoa as "Special Guests of Honour" for the swearing-in of the APC-led government of David Lyon slated for the following day.

Their joy and celebration was, however, cut short when the Almighty God
the ruler of the universe, performed the greatest miracle of the century by using the Supreme Court to give victory to the PDP.

Overwhelmed by shame and ignominy,  and with tail between legs, Alaibe in March resuscitated the same case he abandoned at the Federal High Court, Owerri. He prayed the court to nullify the PDP primary election to pave way for conduct of a fresh election or that any of the several mushroom parties they're sponsoring in the Bayelsa governorship election tribunal in Abuja,  be declared winner.

Expectedly, Alaibe yet again lost at the Federal High Court, Owerri. Typically dissatisfied with Justice Ringim's judgment, he rushed to the Owerri Division of the Court
of Appeal.

At the Court of Appeal, Owerri, Alaibe engaged in a legal sommersault. Instead of demanding the nullification of the PDP primary he lost, he, curiously, prayed the court to order fresh primary elections in PDP! This clearly exposed his desperation, mala-fide and treachery.

Already in celebration mood with sponsor - Petro-dollar Junior Minister of Petroleum Resources,  Chief Timipre Sylva, three ex-Bayelsa Deputy Governors, and certain
prominent traditional rulers from Ogbia - the Nigeria judiciary again rose to the occasion. Not only did the court dismiss his appeal, but unanimously upheld the cross appeal of the three
Respondents which included the PDP, Governor Douye Diri and representatives of the adhoc
delegates.

Acting like a dog destined for perdition that will not heed the hunter's whistle, Alaibe has lodged an appeal at the Supreme
Court. Obnoxiously, maliciously and deceitfully, he's done another Volte-face, seeking entirely fresh reliefs different from the ones he sought at the High Court and the Appeal Court.

Out of malice, he's praying the Supreme Court to declare him winner of the
PDP primaries and consequently, declare him winner of the Bayelsa State Governorship election
held on November 16, 2019. This is clearly a case of committing legal suicide- and by Ijaw
customs and tradition, whoever commits such sacrilege deserves to be buried in the evil forest. In fact, with this kind of legal rigmarole and inconsistency, even without any defence by the Respondents, Timi Alaibe is most likely going to lose his appeal at the Supreme Court for the following reasons:

First, it is a settled principle of law that parties must be consistent with their claims and case from
the beginning at the trial court to the end at the Supreme Court. Once a party becomes a legal
chameleon - like Chief Timi Alaibe - and allows its case change colour at every stage, the case automatically suffers a dismissal. In the case of ALHAJI IBRAHIM SHEKA Vs ALHAJI
UMARU BASHARI (2003) where his Lordship Justice Abiru JCA, stated that a party is therefore not
permitted to do a total volte-face at the Appeal Court from his case at the trial court. He must be
consistent from the trial court to the last stage of the appeal. This settled principle of the law was
upheld in the case of OZOMGBACHI Vs AMADI ORS. where the erudite Supreme Court Justice
Ejembi Eko JSC. held that the law is settled that a party must be consistent in the case he presents
at the trial court and in the appellate court - his appeal being a continuation on the case at the trial
court. He is not permitted to chop and change his case from one stage to another.
Equally, parties are bound by their pleadings and cannot in the middle of a trial or any stage of the
case change such pleadings. The changes in Timi Alaibe’s reliefs at the Court of Appeal and now,
the Supreme Court which automatically has led to a change of his pleadings,  has again dealt a
deadly blow to his case. In fact, the little legal breath left in his case - if there was any -  has been
snuffed out by this action of inconsistent reliefs and pleadings.

In the case of LADO & ANOTHER Vs
RT. HON. AMINU BELLO MASARI & 2 ORS (2019), it was held that it is an elementary principle
of law that parties are bound by their pleadings and evidence on matters not pleaded goes to no
issue. Equally see the case of OZOMGBACHI Vs AMADI & ORS where JUSTICE MARY PETER ODILI
JSC. held that it needs be reiterated that parties are bound by their pleadings and no party is allowed
to make a different case from what is set out from inception. So, for the appellants to seek to
depart from their pleadings and embark on a brand new case
is an act in futility. The obvious reason is that a case maintains its original nature from
commencement and the colour cannot change because it is on appeal since an Appeal or appeals are
merely a continuum of that matter that entered for the first time at the court of first instance. Based on the
above settled principles of law, even the most unenlightened Nigerian knows and will agree that
Chief Timi Alaibe’s case at the Supreme court is not only a exercise in futility but a nullity. As the
Nigerian Supreme Court is too erudite and incorruptible to be induced with pecuniary gains to jettison
this long-standing settled principle of Law set by her and has been maintained over the years.
Moreover, it is also a settled principle of equity that a man who has acquiesced can never be heard. Timi Alaibe who complained at the trial court that the ad-hoc delegates who participated in the primary election were illegal, and yet participated, has waived his right to complain about the purported illegality in the exercise.

This principle of law was well established in the case of Sylva VS Dickson, where the Supreme Court stated that a party who has participated in a particular act with the ultimate aim of benefiting cannot come back to complain if the anticipated benefits no longer accrued to him.

Also, the law does not permit blowing hot and cold at the same time. Alaibe cannot complain at the trial court that the primary election was illegal, complain at the Court of Appeal that the exercise be declared a nullity, only to come to the Supreme Court to ask to be declared the winner of the same primary election and be declared governor. That does not only amount to blowing hot and cold, but also chopping and changing his case which has no legal stand as the foundation is inconsistent.

Moreover, with the fourth alteration of the 1999 Constitution as amended, a party who did not
participate in all the stages of an election cannot be awarded an electoral victory by the court. See
the case of MODIBO Vs INEC (2019),where it was held that a party must participate in all the stages
of the election for him to be awarded an electoral victory in the court. In Alaibe's case, though, he participated in the primaries and lost woefully. However, he did not participate in the general
election as a PDP candidate and therefore cannot be granted the reliefs being sought in that he
be declared winner of the Bayelsa State Governorship election and returned as
Governor.

Therefore, all those gathering money for Alaibe and buying cartons of champagne and charging their
glasses to clink with the wild goose chase hope that the Supreme Court will decide in his favour should realize that Alaibe and his legal team have committed legal suicide. As far
as this case and the law is concerned, it is close to impossibility for the Timi Alaibe case to succeed.

In fact, with the current erudite status of the Supreme Court Justices, they are most likely going to dismiss the appeal without even considering
any defence by the Respondents.

A word, they say, is enough for the wise.
The sponsors of Chief Timi Alaibe should realize that wishes are not horses. Otherwise, beggars would ride.

Reps ask IGP to investigate Kogi bank robbery

Ndubuisi Orji, Abuja

The House of Representatives yesterday mandated the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, to investigate the robbery attack on the First Bank branch at Isanlu, Yaba East Local Government Area of Kogi State, and ensure that the robbers are arrested and prosecuted.

The House, while urging the IGP to ensure that security is beefed up in Isanlu, also demanded the setting up of a joint security taskforce comprising the Army, Police, Air Force and Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to be stationed at a the Isanlu-Esso along Egbe-Potigi road.

The lawmakers noted that the road usually served as escape route for criminals owing to the absence of security agents at the area. This followed the adoption of a motion by Leke Abejide on the recent robbery incident at the First Bank, Isanlu, at Tuesday’s plenary.

Abejide, in his motion, informed the House that recently a branch of First Bank and a police station at Isanlu,  which serves as the headquarters of Yagba East council area was attacked,  resulting in the death of many persons, including eight policemen.

According to the lawmaker, “the armed robbers managed to escape without being caught, further throwing the residents of lsanlu and its environs into a state of panic over the pervading insecurity and helplessness of the security apparatus to protect themselves or the citizens.”
