Taming HyperInflation in KogiState-The need for creative and transparent governance



According to the latest official report Kogi state is the most hyperinflated state in Nigeria,the inflation stands at 33.28% while the food inflation stands at 41.29% (See Business day report December 22,2023)


This is a clear indication that the purchase power of the people of Kogi State is low and the price index is unusually high while at the practical level people of Kogi state are not only suffering they are malnourished and extremely needy.

The hand of poverty is very heavy across the 21Local Government in Kogi State.

The government exist to serve the people it is time to stimulate the economy and empower the people, wealth must be urgently transferred into the hands of the people.

We must show economic creativity and financial prudence the times demand sit.

According to the senate president each state of the federation which includes Kogi state have received a minimum of N30bn as economic support against inflation,and if this is not true the government will do well to debunk it, the states must show accountability and the political will to improve the lives of the people,apart from thee regular allocation N30bn isenough to make significant changes in the lives of the people of Kogi State.

The Kogi State government must take the following steps to radically reduce the pressure of inflation.

1.Publish in details the amount that have been received so far as economic palliative federal government

2.Publish in details the quantity of foodstocks received from the federal government as an economic palliative to the details

3.Publish the how the economic support funds that have been spent

4.Publish in details how stock of food items has been shared across the state.

5.Create a data bank for families and poor house hold across the state

6.Create a data bank for youths across the state

7.Create a data bank for unemployed in Kogi state

8.Digitalize the process of distribution of economic palliatives.

9.Include stakeholders from opposition parties, civil society, traditional institutions, students, cleric and informal sector in economic making decisions

10.Retirees and physically challenged people must always be at the centre of all economic palliative programmes.

11.Improve rural security for farmer store turn back to the farm

12.Provide farmers with high yield in puts across the state.

 APC Deputy Spokesperson, Duro Meseko Hosts Super Eagles Goal Keeper, Ojo Olorunleke in Abuja.




The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon Durosinmi Meseko has received one of the Super Eagles goal keeper, Ojo Olorunleke at the APC National Secretariat Abuja, following their silver medal-winning campaign at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d’Ivoire.


The APC Deputy Spokesperson hosted him few hours after the players arrived in Nigeria from Abidjan and were hosted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the presidential villa, after which the president conferred national honours on the players and gifted them lands and houses.


Ojo Olorunleke who hails from the same Kabba/Bunu LGA with the Hon. Duro Meseko, in Kogi State was received by staff, members and well wishers at the party secretariat.


Hon. Duro commended the Super Eagle's Goal Keeper following their second-place finish.



He said the country is proud of the team and applauded the team's commitment to upholding the nation's pride.

In his  response, the goal keeper said Hon  Meseko has been a philanthropist and generous giver for decades,  recalling when he received a sum of N50,000 from him to purchase his first football boot for the first time in his entire life while still playing at the local level in Kogi State several years ago.


Showering praises on Hon Meseko, he decorated him with the silver medal and thanked him for all he has been doing for his people at home.

RT Hon. Faleke empowers over 5,000 constituents


A member of the House of Representatives, RT Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, on Saturday urged members of his constituency to continue to support him in order to impact as many lives as possible.

Faleke (APC- Ikeja) made the appeal while speaking during an empowerment programme he organised for his constituents in Ikeja.

Over 5,000 members of the constituency benefitted from the programme.

Items such as Toyota Corolla, Hilux van, Tricycle, sewing machines, grinding machines ,mini-buses and other empowerment items were distributed to beneficiaries at the programme.

The lawmaker also distributed patrol vehicles to police stations in his constituency, distributed SUVs to traditional rulers and donated ambulances for the use of the various communities in Ikeja.


Faleke said he was irrevocably committed to the welfare and well-being of his constituents and that the empowerment programme was a clear demonstration of his commitment to improving lives.

“We really thank God for giving us the opportunity to execute this empowerment programme.So many people are beneficiaries and our residents deserve more.





“This constituency is a special place with special people, and that is why we must ensure they enjoy the dividends of democracy.We have done it before , and we will continue to do more for our people.

“We have distributed over 400 mini buses, 103 tricycles , 118 driers ,315 grinding machines, and solar light to light up our streets and communities.

“Today, we have five SUVs for our traditional leaders, five Hilux vans for police stations for effective policing, three ambulances for our community safety and emergencies, three Hummer buses for our market traders and empowerment items for our artisans.

“I am committed to improving lives in the constituency and by God’s grace ,I will continue to do my best to serve the people”, he said.
