‎Lokoja, Kogi State

‎A progressive caucus of Senior Special Assistants (SSAs), predominantly from Ijumu land, has formally emerged under the banner of “Tiwantiwa Lekansi” to champion the re-election of Architect Salman Idris, the member representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, for a second term in the House of Representatives.

‎The group, numbering no fewer than 23 SSAs, representing well over two-thirds of SSAs from Ijumu land, said their decision was informed by the lawmaker’s sterling performance, accessibility, and visible commitment to grassroots development since assuming office.

‎ Speaking on behalf of the group, the Chairman of the forum, Chief Shuaib Ipinmisho who doubles as the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Land Matters described Architect Salman Idris as a tested and performing legislator whose return to the Green Chamber aligns with the principles of equity, justice, continuity, and sustained progress for the constituency.

‎According to the group, allowing Architect Idris a second term would not only consolidate the gains recorded during his first tenure but also strengthen effective representation and deepen legislative dividends to Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu people.

‎The group further expressed strong confidence in the capacity of Hon. Salman Idris to mobilise support and deliver electoral victories across the board, noting that his popularity and performance would contribute significantly to the success of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Alhaji Usman Ododo in their respective second-term bids.

‎During a courtesy visit to their Principal at his expansive legislative office in Abuja, members of the group also engaged prominent leaders, technocrats, and political stakeholders from Ijumu Local Government Area and the wider Okun land, presenting their conviction and collective mandate to these respected sons and daughters of the soil.

‎The group outlined its mandate and vision to include the following:

‎1. To propagate the message and ideals of Architect Salman Idris in a peaceful, just, concise, and persuasive manner.

‎2. To mobilise and convince sons and daughters of Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency on the necessity of continuity through a second term.

‎3. To showcase the achievements and legislative footprints of Architect Salman Idris during his first term in office.

‎4. To articulate his scorecard alongside a clear and compelling manifesto for a second term.

‎The group reaffirmed its readiness to work tirelessly within democratic and non-violent means to ensure the realisation of its objectives, stressing that continuity remains the surest path to sustainable development for the constituency.

Hon. Leke Abejide, member representing Yagba Federal Constituency, was at 12 Brigade Chari Maigumeri Barracks, Lokoja, to commission the completed structure aimed at alleviating accommodation shortages at the barracks.

Rep. Abejide commissioned the newly built housing units of two semi-detached houses with the 12 Brigade Commander Gen. KU Sidi, while inspecting the building round and commended the performance of the Nigerian Army for utilising the resources available, delivering the project on time with standard.

According to him, the projects will enhance the social and operational needs of the troops while strengthening the Nigerian Army’s effectiveness. He urged personnel to put the facilities to good use and ensure their maintenance.

Speaking at the commissioning the commander of the 12 Brigade Chari Maigumeri Barracks, General KU Sidi, appreciated Hon. Leke Abejide and his wife Chief Mrs Esther Abejide for his efforts on security and being committed to the welfare of officers of the Nigerian Army.

In his statement, I want to appreciate Hon. Abejide most sincerely for improving the lives of soldiers by adding value to what a soldier can be, for a soldier to have this kind of accommodation anywhere in Nigeria that soldier will feel elated and will be ready to give his best.

This accommodation is specific to Senior non-commission officers, these are officers within the highest ranking soldiers of the other Rank Cadre, they are exiting the Army in a few years, therefore it is good for them to understand what life will be like after service, so that they won’t go back and be living in huts and mud houses, he said.

The Honourable has given the Nigerian Army this structure and we are sure he is going to give more, we are informed of what he has been doing in his Constituency and service to humanity. He is indeed a man committed to serving humanity with vision and purpose, he said.

The Commander Gen. Sidi prayed that God would continue to bless him, so that he could do more than what he is doing at the moment.

Hon. Abejide ended the symbolic commissioning by handing over the keys of the newly built accommodation to two beneficiaries of the 12 brigade Army and inaugurated another new accommodation project for the Nigerian Army as he gave 50% upfront for the project and promised that it would be completed soon.
