The Presidency has reacted to the rejection of Ibrahim Magu as the
Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission by the Senate.
The
reaction is coming almost 24 hours after the Senate turned down the
request of President Muhammadu Buhari for the confirmation of Magu.
Magu is holding the headship of the anti-graft agency in acting capacity.
The
Senate turned down Buhari’s request to confirm Magu based on a damning
report by the Department of State Services, which is an arm of the
Presidency.
Reacting
to the development on Thursday, the Special Adviser to the President on
Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, said the Presidency was still
expecting official communication on the issue from the Senate.
Adesina said it was only then the Presidency will react to the development.
He
said: “The Presidency will respond to the non-clearance of Magu as EFCC
boss, after it receives official communication in writing from the
Senate.”
