Kogi Kidnap: Students demands unconditional release of kidnapped Lecturer's family.

Students of Kogi State University, Anyigba, Kogi State, has called for the unconditional release of Dr. Johnson Orugun's wife, son and driver from the hands of kidnappers.

Dr. Orugun is a lecturer in the Department of Business Administration.

The wife, Son and driver of Kogi State University Don, Dr. J. J Orugun were on Friday morning kidnapped by unknown gunmen at Ojodu village, Ofu local government area of Kogi State, at about 7:15am, on Friday 6th October, 2017.

The wife Mrs,  Fausat Orugun who was taking their 9 years old son, Ayomide Orugun for resumption of school at Harmony Secondary School, Lokoja were waylaid by gunmen who blocked the road with a trailer and since being taken to unknown place along side with the driver Garba Isah.


Comrade Omosona T. Olakunle, President Federation of Yagba Students made the call after an emergency meeting with other concerned students of the University.

More so, the students sympathised with the family of Dr. Orugun over the ugly incident.

We condemn the abduction of our lecturer's family members and we sympathise with the family of the driver and we are demanding their unconditional release.

We also therefore call on the state government to swing into action immediately to ensure their release.

Recalled that a similar case occurred in the University where a lecturer was kidnapped and was then killed by the gunmen.

The government must stand up to the challenge of securing lives and properties of its citizens.

Kidnapping business is now lucrative in Kogi State because of failure of government. Things can not continue this way he concluded.
