By Gideon Ayodele

The senator representing Kogi West senatorial District today led a group of Kogi West constituents and stakeholder, especially in academics on a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary of the National University commission.
The executive secretary of NUC,  professor Abubakar  Rasheed gave a warm welcome to the team,  saying that Dino is a man that you cannot but admire.
In his presentation, Professor Rashers confirms the need for more universities to be established owning to the fact that only about 20% of Nigerian school leavers who write JAMB gain admission yearly, simply to the fact that there are fewer universities to accommodate them.
He said that if Nigeria must meet up with the demand for her population in the nearest future, more universities, especially specialised ones needs to be established. "I want to assure you that this visit will result to a tangible development  to the constituency, the country and humanity " he assured.
Senator Dino Melaye commended the transformation and reformation so far achieved by the NUC under the leadership of Prof. Rasheed.

"We are here to cry,  though we are not supposed to be crying for a university, but we deserve a university. But we are here to beg you to use your good office to recommend the upgrading of the college to a full fledged university " Melaye said.
Melaye said that ABU college of Agric Kabba was established the same year ABU zaria was established and yet to operate as a full fledged university.
Melaye assured the commission that the resources, physical, structural and intellectual needed will not be a problem.
The National President of Okun Development Association, Barrister Femi Mokikan in his goodwill message commended the Executive Secretary and his team for their various developmental and people's oriented activities in making university education in Nigeria a model.
Professor Olu Obafemi who was equally a member of the team lamented to the Executive 5hat Secretary that he has suffered 27 years of professional agony,  which has kept him unfulfilled and believe that the establishment of the University will bring him professional fulfillment.

He described professor Rasheed as a man that has never failed in any project he embarks upon and the establishment of the Federal University of Agriculture, Kabba will not be his first failed project.
However, the Professors on the team have been requested to work on a short memo to be presented to the Hon. Min. of Education.
