Tribute In Honour Of Rt. Hon. Buba Umar Jibril by Hon. Teejay Yusuf

TRIBUTE IN HONOUR OF RT. HON. BUBA UMAR JIBRIL, DEPUTY LEADER, HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES (JUNE 2015-MARCH 2018)

Mr. Speaker, Honourable Colleagues, it is with a heavy heart and deep sense of loss that I stand, this afternoon, to give this brief Tribute in honour of our very dear Colleague, Leader, Associate; Rt. Hon. Buba Umar Jibril.

It is very sad that our very dear, amiable, resourceful and responsive Rt. Hon. Buba Umar Jibril passed on at a time when his selfless and legendary experience is most needed by his Federal Constituency, Kogi State and Nigeria.

Indeed, I can confirm that Rt. Hon. Buba Umar Jibril distinguished himself as a truly gifted, experienced and resourceful Parliamentarian, whose dedication and commitment to legislative duties and concern for his Constituents was inspiring. He was a natural bridge-builder, compassionate politician and altruistic personality.

His sudden demise is a big and painful loss to the Kogi State Caucus in the House of Representatives, Kogi West Senatoral District and the entire Kogi State. As our Leader, Rt. Hon. Buba Umar Jibril was a man imbued with power, vision and will to succeed; at all times. Not minding our respective political affinity, he was magnanimous, upright, sincere, free and fair to all.

On a personal note, I recall with nostalgia, Rt. Hon. Umar Buba Jibril’s uncommon love and unusual support towards me as a first-term Legislator in 2011. To ensure that I find my feet in the House of Representatives, he not only gave me unfettered access to his office, but emerged as one of my Counsellor and Guides. At different fora; plenary, Committee Meetings and more, he was always ready and willing to listen, assist and support me where and when necessary.

Mr. Speaker, as I join us all, in paying Tributes to Rt. Hon. Buba Umar Jibril, I pray that Almighty God will continually comfort his immediate Family and everyone he has left behind.

HON. YUSUF TAJUDEEN (TeeJay)
