TROUBLE LOOMS IN KOGI APC

The crises rocking All Progressives Congress in Kogi state is yet to abate despite fortnight ago reconciliation put together by the governor between Alh Hadi Ameto Faction of the party and Gov. Bello faction led by Abdullahi Bello in Lokoja.

According to a member of Hadi's faction who doesn't want his name mention said the reconciliation was nothing but a fluke to hoodwink the public of true reconciliation in the state party.

And confirming this statement, only on Friday, the secretary of Hadi's faction Mr. Tom Adejoh approached the Federal High Court Abuja and sworn an affidavit seeking for the continuation of the case against the the governor's faction of the party putting a rest to the much celebrated reconciliation in the state.

Reliable sources at the National headquarters of the party said this development will have great consequences on the incoming governorship primary of the party in the state and would determine the mode to be used in conducting the primary.

Already, the governor's faction has chosen Indirect Primary in selecting it's candidate for the election and it was said to be approved by the National headquarters. But going by the latest developments, such approval will not stand as doing so will further spell doom for the party in the State.
A close source to the party NWC said that the party can only adopt Indirect Primary when there are no court cases but if, then Direct primary would be use in selecting it's candidate to avoid Rivers and Zamfara scenarios.

However, there are another twist to the ongoing drama as other aspirants of the party have vowed not to accept Indirect Primary in the state. It was said that over five (5) aspirants held a marathon meeting in Abuja to perfect their position similar to what played out in Zamfara against the governor who was confrontational to the national body.

The genesis of the crises in Kogi state was as a result of the death of late Prince Audu who was coasting home to victory before the election was declared inclusive and was replaced with the current governor Alh Yahaya Bello who sidelined the major block and key stakeholders of the party that won the election for inexperienced  upstarts.

Many observers blame the all powerful and controversial  chief of staff Edward Onoja for all the problems bedeviled the party in the State. It was said that several times, the governor himself chooses total reconciliation but was frustrated by the chief of staff who remain the face of the government in the state.

Aside the problems of the party in the State, there are also the problem of governance. No governor in the history of the state that has ever face so much opposition from the people like the current governor. The governor many believe is accessible and have a listening ear, is facing stiff opposition from the people within and outside the party in the State against his return for second term.
