Kogi Assembly moves to impeach Gov. Bello over claim of Achuba’s N294b fund misappropriation

Inside source has revealed  that the Kogi state House of Assembly has begun moves to impeach Governor Yahaya Bello who was accused by his deputy, Simon Achuba of misappropriating N294b meant for workers salaries and infrastructural development in the State. 


As reaction continue to trail the claims by Kogi State deputy Governor that his boss, Governor Bello has misappropriated the State statutory allocation, excess crude oil and VAT to the tune of N294b, the State House Of Assembly have concluded plans to serve the Governor impeachment notice over the development. 

The Kogi state government is yet to officially react to the claims by the deputy Governor.

The Assembly is set to investigate the authenticity of the claims and take appropriate measures.

A member of the house said the claims by the deputy Governor had brought the institution of governance in the state to disrepute, and therefore the need for the legislators to take urgent action.

This is a serious matter that should not be swept under the carpet. We shall do our own preliminary investigation into the matter and take action immediately. We shall table the matter before the house and committee will be constituted, the governor can not stop us from from exercising our constitutional duty, said a member who craved anonymity told THE LEAKAGES.

The speaker, Prince Kolawole Mathew maybe compel by other well meaning members of the house to constitute a committee to investigate the matter and report back to the assembly.

It was, however, gathered that the Assembly would serve Governor Bello an impeachment notice as soon as the committee is being constituted and submits its report.
