Bayelsa: Lagos Blogger lands in Court over false publication on Deputy Governor

A Lagos bases popular blogger Funmi Trends Worldwide,has been requested, within seven days,to tender a public letter of apology and also retract defamatory publication over the certificate of the Bayelsa State Deputy Governor Sen. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo or faces Court of law.

Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo,has through his counsel C.B Kekemeke ESQ. requested the retraction of the false and defamatory publication with a letter of apology within seven days of service of the notice.

In a notice served on the blogger by the Deputy Governor's counsel, " the attention of our client has been drawn to a news item published on your website; funmitrends.com.ng on the 10th of May,2020 with a caption *" Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo " INDICTED" For  Forging Certificate"*

The counsel to the Deputy Governor  clarifies that, the said publication was said to have been made with respect to Subpoena purportedly issued by the Bayelsa State Governorship Election Petition sitting in Abuja.

The Deputy Governor counsel further clarifies "no such Subpoena was was served on our client,let alone having him indicted. It is imperative to state that our client never at anytime forged the NYSC Exemption Certificate with serial No.139708 dated 2nd February,1998"

The served notice  further demands a seven day ultimatum for the said defamatory publication be retracted with a letter of apology, failure, upon which remedies of province of both civil and criminal law shall be explored. The counsel assured.
