Omoluabi Salutes Sen. Adeyemi over Appeal Court Victory

Senior Special Assistant to Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello on Political Matter, Omoluabi Olabode Adeyemi has congratulated the Senator representing Kogi West, Smart Adeyemi on his victory at the Appeal court.

The Abuja Division of the Court on Tuesday dismissed the appeal filed by former senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye, challenging the victory of, Senator Smart Adeyemi, at the November 2019 by-election.

In a congratulatory message personally endorsed by Omoluabi and made available to SGTV, he said Sen. Adeyemi's victory did not come to him as a surprise, adding that his victory at the 2019 election was crystal clear.

According to Omoluabi, what the Appeal court did was a re-affirmation of the people's mandate which had earlier been affirmed by the petition tribunal.

"Sen. Smart Adeyemi's acceptance in Kogi West and in the entire state cuts across party line. Kogites who have allegiance to other political groups hold him in a high esteem and willingly decided to change the narratives when they gave him their mandate.

"Our people were fed up with the comedy of error the Senatorial District was subjected prior to the coming of Sen. Adeyemi. They took a stand and decided to end it.

"His victory at the polls was massive and crystal clear even to the blind. For the first time in a long period, people of other political parties pitched their tent with our leader to liberate our district from jesters.

"I am happy that my brother Sen. Dino Melaye decided to try his luck at the court. It would go down the history that he suffered a tripod defeat from the polls to the Appeal Court.

"I will however appeal to him to join forces with Sen. Adeyemi who by providence and the massive mandate of Kogi West people is our representative at the Red Chamber in the development of our district and state in general" he said.

Omoluabi further extolled the people-oriented initiatives Sen. Adeyemi has brought on board since he took over office.

The Justice Ibrahim Saulawa-led three-man bench, in its judgment on the appeal, affirmed the June 10, 2020 judgment of the Kogi State National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal, Abuja, upholding Adeyemi’s election.

The panel, before dismissing the appeal, unanimously resolved all the seven issues considered in the case against the appellants – Melaye and his party, the People’s Democratic Party.

It also awarded the cost of N50,000 against the appellants and in favour of the respondents.

Gov Bello spends hours clearing gridlock on Lokoja-Abuja road

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello on Sunday evening, joined officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other security agencies in controlling the traffic on Abuja-Lokoja road which has held commuters on standstill for two days running.

Governor Bello who arrived Jamata area of the state with his security men and some aides, spent over five hours directing the flow of traffic that has kept travellers at one point since Friday night.

Our reporter gathered that the governor who arrived the scene at about 06.30pm in the evening called other security heads in the state to deploy more personnel to join his security in controlling the traffic.

Speaking to our reporter, Governor Bello said his action followed the brief he got on the traffic situation along Lokoja-Abuja road especially between Kpata in Lokoja down to Koto, Kogi/Kotonkarfe local government of the state from his security details on Saturday.

The governor stated that he decided to visit the scene after another briefing on Sunday that travellers were still stranded on the road.

”I was properly briefed about the hardship the commuters have been going through in the last two days on this road. I was told few officers of the FRSC were seen in controlling the traffic and that no vehicle could even move an inch.

"I have been here since 0645pm and this is 1025pm with some of the officials of the FRSC and other relevant agencies. The good thing is that vehicles are now moving, hopefully,  if the commuters can sustain and maintain this orderliness we have established the gridlock will disappear because disorderliness, impatient are the major causes of this gridlock", he said.

The governor however criticised slow response to emergency road situation by the officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

He noted that there was an accident involving two articulated vehicles on a single lane on the bridge while maintenance work was going on the second lane.

He blamed the FRSC for not responding quickly in evacuating the lorries considering the usual heavy daily traffic on the road.

”I understand that one of the lanes of the bridge has been under maintenance and travelers from Lokoja/Abuja were made to use only one lane; unfortunately, two articulated vehicles collided on the single lane resulting in this gridlock”, he said.

The governor was seen commending commuters and drivers for their patience  while urging that relevant agencies should deploy more personnel to ensure quick clearance of the road.

Some passengers who spoke on the development said they were held up by the gridlock for several hours.

They commended the governor for his presence at the scene, noting that without his intervention, no vehicle would have been able to move.

At about 10. 45 pm, officers of the Nigerian Army, Navy, Civil Defence and vigilantee joined the governor and his security personnel in controlling the chaotic traffic.
Lokoja-Abuja road is one of the most busiest roads in Nigeria as it connects the North to the South.

NASS Leadership: Civil Society group asks court to nullify appointment of Ag Clerk, others

A civil society organisation, Africa Media Roundtable Initiatives (AMRI) has asked the court to nullify the appointment of the Acting Clerk of the National Assembly, Arc Amos Olatunde Ojo and others.

The group further seeks order of the court to declare as null and void the actions taken by the Chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission, Ahmed Amshi leading to the retirement of Mohammed Ataba Sani-Omolori as the Clerk of National Assembly and subsequent appointment of Arc Ojo in acting capacity.

In an originating summons filed before the Federal High Court, Abuja on Wednesday, the group says the appointment of Arc Ojo and others is in violation of sections 6, 8 and 12 of the National Assembly Service Commission acts, 2014, section 51 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended and regulation 02809 of the National Assembly staff regulation, 2019.

AMRI insisted that the Resolution of the joint session of the eighth National Assembly on Conditions of Service gazetted in the National Assemby Service staff regulations, 2019 cannot be set aside by the chairman of National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) through a press statement.

The group further wonders why the retirement age of 65 stipulated by Regulation 02809 of National Assembly Service Staff regulations 2019, an official gazette of Federal Republic of Nigeria can be jettisoned through a press statement by Amshi.

The group through its counsel, Damilare Adeyemi prayed the court to declare as illegal and invalid the press statement issued by Ahmed Amshi which led to the retirement of Sani-Omolori and others, insisting that it is in violation of section 6 of the National Assembly Service Act, 2014.

It further maintained that the press statement issued by the National Assembly Service Commission chairman, Ahmed Amshi cannot supercede a Resolution of the joint session of the National Assembly and gazetted.

AMRI urged the court to validate the compulsory retirement age for all officers of all grades in the service which it says is 65 years or 40 years of pensionable service, whichever comes first in line with Regulation 02809 of the National Assembly Service Staff Regulations, 2019.

Tolulope Arotile: The Unfortunate Ex-Classmate.

Tolulope Arotile: The Unfortunate Ex-Classmate.

By Okodili Ndidi, Abuja

The Nigerian Air Force has ruled out insinuations of possible conspiracy in the death of first female combat helicopter pilot, Flying Officer Tolulope Arotile, who was knocked down by an old schoolmate at the NAF Base in Kaduna.

Giving details of its preliminary investigations, the Director Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, disclosed: “The death of Flying Officer Arotile was caused by blunt force trauma to the head and significant bleeding resulting from being struck by the vehicle”.

According to him, it would have been ideal for the entire investigation to be concluded before details on the incident are released but “the NAF, in sensitivity to public concerns occasioned by the spread of false information, appreciates the imperative to provide more clarity at this very difficult moment”.

He said a civil case; the matter will be handed over to the Nigeria Police “with a view to further investigating and charging the suspects to court in accordance with extant laws”.

He established that the driver of the vehicle, Mr. Nehemiah Adejoh does not have a valid driver’s license and will be charged at the end of the investigations.

Giving graphic of the incident, the NAF Spokesperson, revealed: “On 14 July 2020 at about 10.55am, Late Flying Officer Arotile received a phone call from her colleague, Flying Officer Perry Karimo, a fellow helicopter pilot from the 405 HCTG, who wanted to discuss arrangements for their return to Enugu, requesting that she comes to the Base so that they could work out the modalities.

“Subsequently, at about 10.58am, the Late Arotile placed a call through to Squadron Leader Diepiriye Batubo, the Group Operations Officer (GOO) of 405 HCTG, who was in Minna at the time, to clarify issues regarding her deployment.

“It must be highlighted that the call FROM Flying Officer Karimo as well as the one TO the Squadron Leader Batubo both took place before 11.00am over 5 hours before the incident which led to her death”.

He went on: “Flying Officer Arotile was later conveyed from Sabo to the NAF Base Kaduna by her sister, Mrs. Adegboye where the deceased dropped her phone for charging at a house in the Instructor Pilots’ Quarters belonging to Squadron Leader Alfa Ekele.

“Her elder sister later dropped her off at the Base Mammy Market at about 4.00pm where she proceeded to photocopy and laminate some documents.

“It was while she was returning from the Mammy Market at about 4.30pm that three of her former schoolmates at the Air Force Secondary School (now Air Force Comprehensive School) Kaduna: Mr. Nehemiah Adejoh, Mr. Igbekele Folorunsho and Mr. Festus Gbayegun, drove past her in a Kia Sorento SUV, with Registration Number AZ 478 MKA.

“It is noteworthy that Messrs Adejoh, Folorunsho and Gbayegun are all civilians who live outside NAF Base Kaduna but were on their way to visit one Mrs. Chioma Ugwu, wife of Squadron Leader Chukwuemeka Ugwu, who lives at Ekagbo Quarters on the Base.

He added: “Upon recognising their schoolmate, Arotile, after passing her, Mr Adejoh, who was driving, reversed the vehicle, ostensibly in an attempt to quickly meet up with the deceased, who was walking in the opposite direction.

“In the process, the vehicle struck Flying Officer Arotile from the rear, knocking her down with significant force and causing her to hit her head on the pavement.

“The vehicle then ran over parts of her body as it veered off the road beyond the kerb and onto the pavement, causing her further injuries.

“Flying Officer Arotile was subsequently rushed to the 461 NAF Hospital Kaduna for treatment while Mr Folorunsho (one of the occupants of the vehicle), who is also an Accident & Emergency Nurse at the St Gerard Catholic Hospital Kaduna, administered First Aid.

“Flying Officer Arotile was confirmed dead by the On-Call Doctor at the 461 NAF Hospital at about 4.45pm on 14 July 2020, as a result of the head injuries.

“The trio of Messrs Nehemiah Adejoh, Igbekele Folorunsho and Festus Gbayegun were immediately detained at the Air Provost Wing, 453 Base Services Group Kaduna as investigations began.

“They were subjected to Toxicology Tests at the 461 NAF Hospital but no traces of alcohol or psychotropic substances were found in their systems.”

I regret running with you, Ondo deputy tells Akeredolu

By Hakeem Gbadamosi - Akure

Ondo State Deputy Governor, Hon. Agboola Ajayi, on Sunday, lambasted Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, over his statement of making a wrong choice in him, saying such a statement can only come not only from a confused but frustrated politician.

Ajayi who said the statement from his former principal showed his level of frustration following his inability to use the instrumentality of the State House of Assembly to impeach him.

According to the embattled deputy governor, who said he should be pained for accepting to run with a wrong choice, saying the governor has never toed the line of wise counsel.

Ajayi in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Babatope Okeowo, said “we understand the frustration of Governor Akeredolu over his inability to remove his deputy illegally through the instrumentality of the House of Assembly having heavily induced them with state fund to do so.

“We also understand the self-inflicted pain of running the state aground through the inflated contract, clannishness and malfeasance through the N4.3 billion kept in secret account of Zenith Bank and disbursed without legislative approval.

“These and many injuries Governor Akeredolu caused himself cannot be blamed on his Deputy, HE Agboola Ajayi who he has sidelined for the past three and half years.

“It must be put on record that Akeredolu contested in 2012 governorship election and came a distant third in the election won by Dr. Olusegun Mimiko of Labour Party.

“It was the experience, weight and political capital Hon Ajayi brought into the 2016 gubernatorial election that produced the current All Progressives Congress (APC) led government in the state.

“The Yoruba proverb that says when the head is rotten, the whole body is destroyed is apt in Ondo State as Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has destroyed the economy of the state and cornered her resources for few cronies and family members”

Ajayi however maintained that “If there is any wrong choice, it is Governor Akeredolu who has refused to take all-wise counsel not only from his Deputy but by senior citizens of Ondo State.

Governor Akeredolu has said last Saturday that he regretted making a wrong choice in his embattled deputy, who defected from the All Progressives Congress to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) recently.

The governor who said he believed then he had made a good choice in Ajayi, who is his cousin, said he was greatly let down by his deputy who made him realize he had made a wrong choice.

The Governor said he was happy that Ajayi showed his true color, describing his exit from the party as a blessing and cleansing for the better performance of the party.

FLYING OFFICER TOLULOPE AROTILE: TRAGIC LOSS OF A PACE SETTER, NATURAL ACHIEVER, ROLE MODEL, PATRIOT!

For me, the Okun nation, Kogi state, the country and every person who met, read or heard about the death of Flying Officer Arotile Tolulope, it's been a time of sadness, shock and pain.

More painful is that our very dear Flying Officer Arotile died at a time when her professional competence, capacities and capabilities are being deployed, effectively and efficiently, to bring peace and order to a part of the country towards national growth and development. As an operational pilot at the   Minna based "Operation GAMA AIKI" she contributed immensely to efforts by the Nigerian Airforce to ward off the activities of armed bandits and other criminal elements across states in the North Central zone.

From her formative years through secondary to tertiary education, military training and professional career, Flying Officer Arotile Tolulope was an embodiment of brain, excellence, courage and will-power. At all times, in every situation, she thrives, conquers where others fear to thread. As a symbol of determination, resourcefulness, commitment and hard work, she did not only weather through varied storms, challenges and difficulties, but she always comes out victorious, successful and triumphant.

Indeed, it is very painful that the Okun nation, Kogi state and the country lost a pace setter, trail blazer, natural achiever and role model, whose passion to her profession, commitment to the nation and strong desire for true nation building, growth and development was confirmed by the Chief of Air Staff; Air Vice Marshal Siddique Abubakar, in his tribute.

As we mourn the untimely death of this great daughter, sister, friend and colleague; Flying Officer Arotile Tolulope, as humans, we recognise the truth that as creations of the Most High, He alone can call us home whenever He chooses. It is our believe that God Almighty has called her back home.

However, we take solace in the fact that, though Flying Officer Arotile Tolulope died at a very very young age, but she lived a fruitful life. Within a short time on heart, she recorded feats that are incomparable. She made history as the first ever female combat helicopter pilot in the Nigerian Armed Forces and arguably in Africa. She was one of the successful female graduands of the Nigerian Defence Academy's Regular Course 64 who were commissioned as officers in September 2017.

It is my sincere prayers that God Almighty will grant the parents; Engr. and Mrs. Arotile, her siblings, the entire Arotile Family, as well as the people of Iffe community, Okun nation and Kogi state the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, Amen.

My Travails in the Hands of Magu, EFCC Director, Ayo Olowonihi Laments

Tobi Soniyi

Mr Ayo Olowonihi was a level 17 officer at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Commandant (Director) of the commission’s academy in 2015 when Ibrahim Magu was appointed Acting Chairman of EFCC. After putting in almost 15 years in the service of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), he had elected to retire voluntarily, and later joined the EFCC.

Following the exit of Ibrahim Larmode, Olowonihi was one of those in the commission who were eminently qualified to replace him. He ostensibly lobbied for the top job. Magu, then Director of Operations under Lamorde, also lobbied for the job through the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA). As luck would have it, Magu was chosen to replace Larmode.

Little did Olowonihi know that his ambition to replace Lamorde did not go down well with Magu. For daring to nurse the ambition to become EFCC chairman, Olowonihi must be taught a lesson.

After trying unsuccessfully to get an operative of the commission to lie against him, checking through his records to try to find anything that could be used against him, and finding nothing, and after inquiring from his former employer, NDLEA, if he did any wrong that could be used to nail him and also finding nothing, Magu caused a phony query to be issued to Olowonihi.

In the query dated December 22, 2015, Olowonihi was accused of sponsoring negative publications against the EFCC in an online medium. He did not only deny the allegations but said he was the first person to draw the attention of Larmode to the publications since he was the chairman when the said reports were published. Olowonihi said his emails and bank accounts were investigated, but nothing incriminating or linking him to the publications was found. Yet, he was arrested, detained, and forced to make statements under caution. Not satisfied, Magu caused a suspension letter to be issued to him to enable the commission investigate the allegations against him, citing a defective EFCC Staff Regulations Handbook 2007.

The suspension letter was dated December 29, 2015. Since that day, the commission had stopped his salaries and he had been subjected to untold hardship. While the suspension lasted, entreaties were made to Magu to recall him, but Magu could not be bothered.

Then two years after, on November 15, 2017, Magu caused a letter of reinstatement to be issued to him, but attached some onerous conditions. They included forfeiture of his salaries for the two years he was on suspension, writing a letter of apology to Magu, swearing to an oath of secrecy, downgrading to level 16 from level 17, writing an undertaking to be of good conduct, and deployment to work in Magu’s office.

The conditions were not only onerous, they were also humiliating. Olowonihi rejected them and issued a notice to commence a court action against the commission, an option he said he didn’t want to take in the interest of the commission.

In its judgement, the National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN) in Abuja reversed his demotion. Justice Musa Kado, who delivered the judgement, ordered Olowonihi to be reinstated as Detective Commandant, Grade Level 17, after he set aside a letter of reinstatement, which had downgraded him to Grade Level 16, for being illegal, null and void.

Olowonihi had asked the court to declare his demotion as well as the processes that led to it as illegal, unlawful, null and void. The claimant, in a 62-paragraph oath deposed in support of the suit, said he was not given fair hearing before disciplinary action was taken against him.

Among the issues raised for determination before the court were whether the EFCC Staff Regulations Handbook 2007 used for the discipline of the claimant was validly made, having not been approved by the commission.

Kado decided all three issues raised for determination in favour of the claimant. He held that the fact that the EFCC Regulation Handbook, which guides the appointment and disciplinary procedures of employees, had not been approved by the commission rendered it invalid. “Failure of the defendant’s counsel to produce approval by the commission means it is either not in existence or it will not be in the favour of the defendant,” he said.

Kado further noted that while the absence of signature on the document might not necessarily make it invalid, there was no commencement date to show when it actually came into force. He held that the approval of the draft by the chairman did not amount to approval by the commission, which had been empowered by law to do so.

The judge accordingly held that the purported regulation handbook used for the suspension and subsequent demotion was not valid and as such null and void.

The court having declared as invalid EFCC’s handbook for lacking approval of the commission, agreed with the submission of the counsel to the claimant, Professor Joash Amupitan (SAN), that the defendant did not comply with the Public Service Rules, the applicable regulation on disciplinary matters affecting the claimant, who was a Director on GL 17. He said section 9 (2b) of the Act establishing the EFCC provided that until there was a regulation in place guiding the appointment, discipline and dismissal of employees of the commission, the civil service rule shall continue to be in force.

Kado held that while the chairman of the commission or the secretary had the right to initiate disciplinary proceedings against the claimant, it was the commission that had the power to sanction after due consultation with the Federal Civil Service Commission.

Similarly, on the issue of fair hearing, the judge agreed with the claimant that the fact that he was not given the opportunity to defend himself before the ad hoc committee set up to investigate him and two others rendered the whole exercise a nullity.

“There is a violation of natural justice,” the court held, adding, “The claimant’s appointment is statutory and can only be tampered with strict public service rule.”

He subsequently held that the letter of reinstatement downgrading the claimant to GL 16 was “nullified and set aside” and ordered the EFCC to reinstate the defendant back to his position as Detective Commandant Grade Level 17.

Kado, however, stated that the court could not order the defendant to restore the claimant as Commandant of the EFCC Academy, as the defendant had the right to deploy its personnel to any position it deemed appropriate.

Curiously, the court refused to grant the prayers of the claimant on the payment of all his salaries and allowances within the period of the suspension on the grounds that the claimant failed to prove that he was entitled to such relief.

Born in Kabba, Kogi State, Olowonihi attended the University of Jos and Lagos State University, where he obtained B.Sc. Economics (Second Class Upper Division) and Masters in Public Administration (MPA), respectively. He obtained a Post Graduate Certificate in Corruption Studies from the University of Hong Kong, Certificate on Better Governance: Managing Corruption from the Singapore Civil Service College, Certificate in Mastering Competitive Strategy and Blue Ocean Strategy from the Lagos Business School. He is also a graduate of the Policy, Strategy and Leadership (Pre-SEC) Course of the prestigious National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos.

Olowonihi joined the NDLEA at its inception in 1990 and attended the first Senior Officer’s Basic Course – ANS Course 1/90. He has attended numerous professional courses and management seminars in Nigeria, Germany, Côte D’Ivoire, Senegal, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Turkey, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Switzerland.

Olowonihi has acquired diverse experiences spanning 30 years in law enforcement, investigations, anti-corruption and good governance, personnel management, training and manpower development, etc.

While in the NDLEA, Olowonihi held appointments such as Acting Director, General and Assets Investigation, NDLEA Headquarters; Acting Director, Training Research and Development; Commandant, NDLEA Academy, Jos; Zonal Commander, Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos; Director, Abuja Liaison Services; and Commander, Kogi State Command, among others.

In February 2001, Olowonihi returned to the agency’s academy as commandant. The high point of his second tenure was the upgrading of the academy to a regional academy for drug control in West Africa. After a successful second tenure, he served briefly at the agency’s headquarters as Coordinator of the National Drug Control Strategy.

He transferred his services to the EFCC in May 2005, and served as the pioneer Deputy Director/ Head of Training at the academy. He also served as Head of the Special Control Unit Against Money Laundering (SCUML).

The Sham Kogi Politicians Call "Mentorship"- Prince Tijani

What our politicians mean by mentorship is engaging you to clown as their attack dogs, to insult their opponents and your peers in proving your loyalty to them. It’s hardly about acquiring any life lesson, about learning leadership tips, and there’s hardly mutual respect.

‪There’s a generation of brilliant young Kogites trapped in this scam called mentorship, a lot of them distracted from their career and tasked with existing as inconsequential and underpaid aides. They can’t even advise their principal, because they don’t want to hurt their feelings.‬

The fastest way to realize that you have actually been enslaved is ask yourself whether in fact you can call your principal to order whenever he fumbles.

‪I once stopped to see a political appointee friend and he led me to say hello to his boss; I was shocked to realize he couldn’t shake hands with the man, couldn’t even sit on the couch in his presence. This he thought was reverence. Sad, this “Omàwèdé” (Am your loyal son) syndrome is what excites our politicians.‬

‪Most politicians doesn’t have a succession plan; they see it as an enterprise to recruits young people not to discharge any serious managerial duties but protect the interests of a corrupt management, while bearing bogus titles as SAs and whatnots to give them an illusion of importance.‬

‪For so long, Youths have functioned as mere image-makers and praise-singers for a people mismanaging a venture in which they have equal stakes. We’re taught to massage the ego of those we should be questioning, and we humiliate ourselves in defence of their shortcomings.‬

‪Our young people must see the line between abuse and public service, and of course between slavery and mentorship.

KOGI GOVERNOR EXTOLS WOMEN IN SECURITY,URGES FOR MORE COMMITMENT

Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has extolled the women in security in Nigeria for their resilient and commitment toward ensuring a safe nation for all.

The Governor urged female security personnel in the country to imbibe discipline and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

Bello gave the commendation and charge on Friday during a visit to the National Institute for Security Studies, Bwari, Federal Capital Territory, where he attended the closing ceremony of a Special Intervention Squad (SIS) Course.

He said the general believe that women lack the physical strength and endurance to serve in either military or paramilitary services was not tenable as many young women in the service have demonstrated their capacity to defend the country in the maintenance of peace.

The governor noted that the integration of women in the military and paramilitary organisations over the years was a welcome development, adding that it was based on the recognition of women in such endeavour that a more people-centric approach to security is necessary given the effect of insecurity on civilians, and mostly women and children.

Bello charged security agencies in the country to deploy more sophisticated gadget in the areas of information and intelligent gathering and aerial surveillance.

"the security situation in the country today requires a more conciliatory approach, especially where paramilitary tasks include the protection of populations which has led to demands to increase the number of women in maintenance of peace in the society today".

He charged all security agencies to intensify effort in tackling the resurgence of criminals in the country.

While responding to the commendation by the Honourable Minister for Women and Affairs Dame Pauline Talen at the occasion for being the first Governor in the history of the country to chose a female Aide De Camp, Bello noted female in the services undergo equal training just like the male counterparts noting that there shouldn’t be such thing as discrimination on the basis of sex. He extolled the female officers for their focus, determination and diligence.

Yahaya Bello become the first and only governor in the country with female Aide-de Camp when he accepted the posting of Miss Iwanger Akaya for the position in February, 2020.

Magu Suspended To Allow Transparent Investigation, Fight Against Corruption Not Failing-Presidency

PRESIDENCY STATEMENT ON THE SUSPENSION OF MR. IBRAHIM MAGU

A series of documented allegations were made against the Ag. Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Following a preliminary review of the allegations leveled against the Ag. Chairman and several other members of his staff, there were grounds for a detailed investigation to be conducted.

Hence, an investigative panel was constituted in compliance with the extant laws governing the convening of such a body.

As is the proper procedure, when allegations are made against the Chief Executive of an institution, and in this case an institution that ought to be seen as beyond reproach, the Chief Executive has to step down from his post and allow for a transparent and unhindered investigation.

The EFCC does not revolve around the personality of an individual, and as such cannot be seen through the prism of any individual.

Therefore, the suspension of Mr. Ibrahim Magu, allows the institution to continue carrying out its mandate without the cloud of investigation hanging over its head.

The EFCC has many good, hardworking men and women who are committed to its ideal and ensuring that the wealth of our country isn’t plundered and wherein there is an act of misappropriation such person(s) are brought to justice.

Meanwhile, Mr. Magu is being availed the opportunity to defend himself and answer the allegations against him. This is how it should be, as is the fact that under the Laws of Nigeria every citizen is presumed and remains innocent until proven guilty.

We must realize that the fight against corruption is not a static event, but a dynamic and ever evolving process, in which the EFCC is just one actor; and as we continue to work towards improving our democratic process so shall every institution of ours also embark on that journey of evolution.

What is however important is that there must be accountability and transparency and our people must realize that they would be held to account. This is the building block in the fight against corruption, the establishment of the concept of Accountability and the recognition of the Rule of Law.

Those who see Mr. Magu’s investigation, as a signal that the fight against corruption is failing, have unfortunately, missed the boat.

There is no better indication that the fight is real and active than the will to investigate allegations in an open and transparent manner against those who have been charged to be custodians of this very system.

Under this President and Government, this is our mantra and guiding principle. There are no sacred cows, and for those who think they have a halo over their heads, their days are also numbered.

Mr. Magu was not immune – and regardless of the obvious embarrassment that potential acts of wrongdoing by him, given the office he held, may appear for the government.

No other administration in the history of Nigeria would have moved to bring into the light and public domain such an allegation.

Omoluabi congratulates Kogi CJ, President CCA, says Bello has broken jinx of 30 years as first Okun CJ emerge.

The Senior Special Assistant to Kogi state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello on Political Matters, Omoluabi Olabode Adeyemi has congratulated two eminent jurists, Hon. Justice H.A Olusuyi on his appointment as the Chief Judge in the State and Hon. Justice Bayo Olowosegun who is now the President Customary Court of Appeal.

Omoluabi while describing the duo as sound and distinguished officers of the bench who have left indelible footprints in the dispensation of justice in the nation’s judiciary expressed hope that their elevation will energise them for more fearless landmarks in the country’s legal system.

In a release he personally endorsed on Wednesday, Omoluabi reiterated that the two justices represent hope for the common man.

*I have no doubt in my mind Justices Olusuyi and Olowosegun have hit a threshold in their chosen career by a notch of hard work, commitment and fearlessness. Their elevation by His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to man very critical judicial positions in our dear state for the first time from their tribe is a testament that their contributions to fostering justice are not only noted but felt.

“At a time when underhand dealings have threatened the sacredness of our nation’s sanctuary of justice, these two jurists among others stand tall with undented integrity and honour which has been rewarded with a higher call for service.

Omoluabi says since the creation of Kogi in 1991, Governor Yahaya Bello administration is the first to consider an Okun man for the head of judicial arm of the state.
“This further highlights how much our dear governor cares about Kogi West. The appointment of their illustrious sons into such enviable positions has further solidified the governor’s profile as a vanguard of constitutional democracy and highly detribalised leader” he said.

Omoluabi appealed to people of the state to offer support to the two eminent justices as they set out on a journey to deepen the root of justice dispensation in the country.

Gov. Yahaya Bello on Wednesday inaugurated Justice Henry Adebola Olusiyi as the acting Chief Judge (CJ) of the state following the demise of the immediate past Chief Judge, Justice Nasir Ajanah, on June 28.

The governor also sworn-in Justice Bayo Olowosegun as the acting President of the state Customary Court of Appeal, following the vacuum created by the death of the immediate past president, Justice Ibrahim Atadoga, on June 22.

BREAKING News!!! How Magu Embezzled N39billion, Gave Osinbajo N4billion, Begs For Soft Landing.

This is even as investigators discovered that as early as 4 am on Tuesday, EFCC staff members suspected to by “Magu Boys” invaded the headquarters of the anti-graft agency and made away with files and computers containing important information.

According to the source who does not want to be named, Magu sold recovered properties, vehicles, houses.

Specifically, 167 recovered trucks missing from its Port Harcourt office, could not be accounted for. 27 of those trucks recovered, were sold this year.

The source told Pointblanknews.com that Magu admitted that he flagrantly defied the Act setting up the EFCC which stipulates he reports to the supervisory ministry which is the Ministry of Justice and Office of the Attorney General of the Federation.

According to the source, Magu consistently ignored requests of assistance to investigate and recover about N67billion by sister agencies including the office of the Inspector General of Police and the Presidency.

The source hinted that Magu could not account for missing N37billion as indicated in the submitted report of the presidential asset recovery panel headed by the chairman of the FIRS.

Specifically, Magu was said to have mentioned a N4billion that he released to the VP based on directives the very day the president left the country for the United Kingdom on medical treatment.

Pointblanknews.com gathered that Magu was headstrong on Monday when he was picked up. Investigators said he refused to speak on any issue they asked. On Tuesday, when they showed him documents and evidence, he started confessing. He is now begging for a soft landing, an investigator said.

Omoluabi in a statement issued on Saturday described the judgement as landmark and an affirmation of the people’s mandate he secured at the polls.
“The governor’s victory at Appeal Court did not come to me as a surprise. Truth has no hiding place. The good people of Kogi had overwhelmingly spoken in unison for continuity of the governor’s urban renewal drive, they had chosen continuity of the government that that has offered employment to thousands of their children.
“The good people of Kogi did not mince words in their demand for continuity of a government that has given farmers reasons to smile by offering them palliatives and opening up the links to urban area, making it easy to ferry their produce with zero stress.
“The good people of Kogi were in their best state of mind when they asked for a continuity of the government that has brought affordable health care to their doorsteps.
“They spoke through the ballots for continuity of the government that has given every strata of people in the state a reason to be proud of. For continuity of inclusion and transformation they spoke. Their voice is sacrosanct which the tribunal and Appeal Court have upheld” he said.
Omoluabi further appealed to those whose ego may have been bruised by the decision of Kogi people to join hands with governor Bello in building the state, saying there is room for everyone.
A five-man panel of Appeal Court had on Saturday unanimously dismissed the four appeals filed, challenging the decisions of the election tribunal which earlier upheld Bello’s election.
The panel led by Justice Adamu Jauro, held that the appellants were unable to establish their claim that the Kogi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal erred in upholding Bello’s election.
The appellate court, while dismissing appeals, found that they were without merit.
