Open Letter Condemning the Betrayal of Chief Edward Onoja by Sunday Faleke

It is with deep regret that we find ourselves compelled to address the recent actions of Sunday Faleke, an Okun son, who has shown a profound lack of loyalty and gratitude toward Chief Edward Onoja and the Igala community as a whole. It is indeed disheartening to witness such a betrayal, especially from someone who has been given every opportunity to succeed, thanks to the benevolence of our own leader, Chief Edward Onoja.

Since 2015 Chief Edward Onoja has placed his trust in Sunday Faleke, empowering him above the sons of Igala land as Special Assistant to the Governor and further promoted to the Deputy Chief of Staff. This trust and opportunity were extended with the hope that Faleke would act in the best interest to grow and empower his people, standing by the side of those who have supported him. However, Faleke's actions during the 2023 Kogi State governorship election have shown otherwise.

It has come to our attention that Sunday Faleke, instead of remaining loyal to Chief Edward Onoja, chose to betray him by selling out confidential information, including chats, plans, and discussions, to former Governor H.E. Yahaya Bello. Such an act of betrayal cannot and should not be tolerated, especially when it comes from someone who owes his political career to the support of an Igala leader.

To add insult to injury, it has been made clear that Sunday Faleke has been rewarded for his betrayal by being appointed as the Kogi State Commissioner for Special Duties. This appointment, orchestrated by a pseudo-former governor of Kogi State, further highlights the depth of his disloyalty and ungratefulness.

Moreover, Sunday Faleke's refusal to publicly congratulate Chief Edward Onoja on his recent appointment as Federal Commissioner of the Public Complaints Commission (PCC) and on his 50th birthday is a glaring omission. It is a clear sign of disrespect not only to Chief Onoja but to the entire Igala community.

As the youth of Igala land, we cannot stand idly by while such disloyalty and betrayal go unchecked. We hereby condemn the ungrateful attitude of Sunday Faleke and call on him to desist from his current path of betrayal, ingratitude, and disloyalty.

The Igala youth will continue to stand strong, united, and unwavering in our support for those who have consistently shown their commitment to our people. We will not allow the actions of one ungrateful individual to tarnish the legacy of our leaders or the integrity of our community.

Sincerely,

Ilemona Ochalifu

On behalf of Igala Youth
