Nigeria at 57, Kogi speaker task Nigerians to discourage hate speeches

The Honourable Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly and member representing Kabba/Bunu State constituency, Rt Hon Mathew Kolawole has tasked Nigerians to henceforth discourage the promotion of hate speeches in the country.

The speaker who disclosed this through a statement issued and signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Femi Olugbemi  to commemorate the 57th independence anniversary of the country.
According to him, Nigeria as a country can only remain strong in unity and peace, urging all stakeholders to continue to have faith in the current leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari.
He said the country needs peace at a time we are just coming out of recession, pointing out that those agitating for the separation of the country are enemies of the nation.
The Speaker urged Nigerians to embrace peace and unity, noting that anything sort of that is not negotiable.

He also mentioned the need for Nigerians to always soliloquize and reminisce on the developments so far.

"By this we would be able to work on our strengths and weaknesses", the Speaker said.

The Speaker who commended the support and cooperation enjoyed so far by the sixth Assembly, promised on behalf of his colleagues to continue to make laws that will promote good governance for the state.

He further reiterated the determination of the legislative arm under his leadership to continue to partner with the Executive arm to engender rapid development of the state
He called on all aggrieved persons to use the occasion of the Independence Anniversary to bury their hatchet and come on board to cooperate and support the New direction government under the leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello to move the State forward.
The Speaker appealed to religious leaders to keep praying for the state and the country at large noting that we have no where to run to as Nigeria is our Jerusalem.

He also used the occasion to congratulate and wish all Nigerians happy new month, praying that God will grant us all our heart desires for the remaining months of this year.
