ELECTION 2019: KOGI GOVERNOR PLANS WAR-GROUP ALLEGES

By Bamidele Mobolaji

The Kogi Forum of Electoral Violent Free Vanguard has alleged kogi state government of its plan to stage violence in the forthcoming elections.

According to the leader of the group, the state government through the office of the S A Security have been training some youth under the pretext of vigilante groyp to be deployed to the various local government areas of the state for the purpose of the election.

The group also alleged that the state government have succeeded in getting delivery of the military uniforms and material imported last year, which was apprehended at the Abuja Customs warehouse with the aim of disguising the vigilantes in training as military personnel.

Governor Bello’s Three Years In Office, A Monumental Failure- Kogi ADC.

January 27th is not an auspicious time for Kogi State, bedevil by index of denigrating socio-political conditions. Rather than a fiesta, the Kogi State government of All Progressive Congress(APC) should use the occasion of the anniversary for self-assessment and sober reflection.

It is in the best interest of our collective humanity that we use this period to identify and analyse how we have managed (or mismanaged) the billions of Naira accrued to the state since the Government took over, with the lessons to determine how best to forge a better future by avoiding the pitfalls of the past.

Today, it’s unfortunate that the State government can not till the moment pay all the entitlement owed civil servants in the state with unpaid salaries and pensions running into 24months, it was strange that inspite of the huge amount that came in form of bailout, Paris Club Refund and Ecological funds in the last three years many workers were still being owed several months arrears ranging from 5 to 24 months, while some have been receiving percentages of their salaries.

After three years, the government can not accurately give account of N20 billion PARIS Refund(N11.21bn, N6.02bn and over N6 billion in the first, second and third tranches respectively), what about the N20 billion Bailout funds received and the withdrawer of N450 million Kogi ecological fund without due process.
The Kogi state government in the last three years have also plunged the state into debt to the tune of N16 billion between May 2017 and January 2018.

After three years, our hospitals still suffer from scarcity of funds for operation, obsolete equipment, power failure, incessant doctors' strike and poor working environment. As it were, only the rich can afford better healthcare services in mostly privately owned hospitals.

After Three years, Eighty Eight(88) medical doctors resigned from Kogi civil service over poor condition of service.

After three years, the state of insecurity in Kogi is worrisome. Armed banditry, kidnapping, political thuggery, assassinations and militancy have gradually become the order of the day.

Just the other day, at the ADC campaign rally, members of our party were attacked with dangerous weapons at Anyigba and OFU which led to damaging of our campaign buses, cars and office equipments. Some of our members were also hospitalized.

After three years of APC government, Kogi have no single project to commission.

After three years, Kogi, which receives over N3 billion as federal allocation cannot even properly account for anything. And the political leaders who presided over this plundering of our common wealth still walk the streets freely.

The upcoming 2019 elections must be our collective responsibility and should be a watershed and complete break from the past. We urge Kogites to come out and subsequently vote for all credible candidates of African Democratic Congress(ADC) in the State, irrespective of tribe and religion.

The era of hijacking the political process by all comers and rascals must come to an end.
All well meaning Kogites should give their best to put Kogi back on track by voting ADC into power.

As we reflect and reminisce, the African Democratic Congress enjoins all Kogites to join hands to move the State forward by being politically conscious and aware of the fact that, at the end our action and inaction will determine what future tomorrow holds.

Signed
Bashir Ibrahim Ellah
Kogi ADC Publicity Secretary.

Yagba 2019: Elder Leke Abejide Set To Take Free Medical Mission to 300,000 Yagba Women and Infants.

The African Democratic Congress(ADC) candidate for Yagba Federal Constituency Election in Kogi State, Elder Leke Abejide has gifted free healthcare services to over 300,000 residents of Yagba land.
The project is being undertaken by the Leke Abejide Foundation.
The Director General of the foundation, High Chief Shola Adebola Samuel aka Gaddafi in statement said the two days training program will be conducted in the three LGA of Mopa-Muro, Yagba East and Yagba West on Tuesday and Wednesday 29th and 30th January, while drug dispensation to all beneficiaries in all the communities will be carried out on 31st January and 1st February 2019 in Isanlu General Hospital, Yagba East LGA.
He said the treatment of large number of people will take place at an open field at the Isanlu general hospital in Yagba East Local Government Area.

He said the team will offered free treatment in fulfillment of Elder Leke Abejide promise to meet the immediate need of Yagba constituents.

The well being of Elder Leke Abejide's constituents is the priority of the foundation and not empty promises nor propaganda of brigandage.

The Foundation appeal to the good people of Yagba federal constituency to use this great opportunity to establish culture of love, peace and harmony as the House of Representative Election draw near.

2019: Bello will lose in Kogi – ADC National Chairman.

National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Prof.
Okey Nwosu, has boasted that Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state would lose the governorship election because of poor performance in the last three years.

The ADC chairman, who lamented the under development in the state and unpaid salary and pension arrears in spite of huge amount of money received from the Federation Account as well as the bailout and funds got from the shared Paris Club refund, said Bello’s lack of vision has clearly shown that the state needs a visionary leader. Accordingly, he said if the APC makes the mistake of fielding Gov Bello against its more popular and cerebral candidate, the ADC would definitely emerged winner of the governorship race in 2019.

Speaking to ADC party members from Kogi State at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, he said, Kogi State was the easiest state for the ADC to win gubernatorial election out of the 36 states of the federation.

According to him, Bello’s administration smacks of ideal democracy, recalling that he inherited a dead man’s votes which he failed to justify in the last two and half years. “ADC is interested in Kogi State.
Out of 36 states of the federation, Kogi is the easiest state to win elections.
“I tell you, Alhaji Yahaya Bello will lose election to ADC gubernatorial candidate because of his maladministration despite inheriting late Abubakar Audu’s votes.” Explaining reasons he went to court against Bello when he was sworn into office in 2016, he was of the belief that no one could inherit votes he never laboured for.

He urged party faithful from the state to work assiduously in order to root Bello out of office, insisting that the people were yearning for a regime of change as a result of hardship imposed on them.

Smart Adeyemi the skillful liar

By Gideon Ayodele

It is always interesting to hear the sinking Senator Smart Adeyemi speak, especially on his respiration to return to the senate, a dream that will soon turn a nightmare to him.

Sometime ago, I published an article on why this supposed distinguished personality sell so cheap and I will in the course of the week re-publish same article for the sake of those that probably missed it before, to read and assess the present way this "Political Vegetable" is going about his campaigns.

Laughable to any true son of Okun and Iyara the acclaimed home place of Smart Adeyemi to hear him stand in the public to say that he built a stadium at Iyara, One at Egbe and another one at Kabba.

Very correct that he has a proposed site for a stadium at Iyara a land which he skillfully acquire freely from the community with the promise of co instructing a stadium, a land he for himself. Ask any true son of Iyara to take you to the Stadium. It is really shameful for Smart to descend this low to lie on his own acclaimed immediate community.
This calls for a very serious call on the good people of Kogi West to begin to access the character trait of an intending senator. Anyway, I know all his aspirations to return to the senate is an ordinary intention.

The good people of Kogi local government where he lied on the construction of a stadium still have the fresh memory of how he promised to build a town hall for them about 12 years ago and know how far he has fulfilled his promise. Even a novice know that a town hall do not cost as much as a stadium. Be wise.

I don't believe in writing epistles to communicate to sensible good people of Kogi West on the many lies of Senator Smart Adeyemi.

Here I have attachments of some of his personal structures that he can no longer sustain barely 3 years after leaving an office he held for 8 years. What a pity. Kogi westerners are too enlightened to entrust our mandate to a such a bad manager of resources.

Expect more details of his many and several lies.

Hon. Teejay with visibly happy constituents
...pledges improved representation for constituency.

Massive and intimidating crowd trooped out to show support for the re-election bid of the lawmaker representing  Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency of Kogi State, Hon. Tajudeen Yusuf at the Ward-to-ward campaign tour ahead of the February 16th Election.

The lawmaker pledged to boost efforts toward bringing more dividends of democracy to the doorstep of the people of his constituency.

The lawmaker thanked the people of the constituency at the PDP ward to ward campaign for their support towards his reemergence as the flag bearer of People’s Democratic Party PDP, which will make him get re-elected once again, he said he will make the Constituency worth living for residents.

Recall that about hundreds of youths and women across the 30 wards of the constituency have benefited from the series of empowerment programmes initiated by the Lawmaker in the last 3 years.
The rally which held across the 30wards of the Federal Constituency over the week was a huge success in spite of trend of political violence in the state.

APC Thugs Attack PDP Campaign in Ijumu

A former Commissioner for Finance in Kogi state, Chief Abiodun Ojo became the latest casualty of the growing spate of political violence in the state.

Ojo survived direct attacks from thugs loyal to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Administrator of Ijumu local government council, Alhaji Taufiq Isah who stormed the Odokoro-Gbedde venue of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign with guns and other dangerous weapons.

Speaking with newsmen in Odokoro after the attacks, Comrade Gbenga Olulade said the thugs are well known in Ijumu. He stated that the miscreants were instructed by the Administrator to attack PDP supporters.

“The PDP campaign train had visited Ijumu Oke, Ijumu Arin axis yesterday without any obstruction, attack or violence. Today’s rally is expected to cover the five Wards in Gbede Axis of Ijumu LGA.

“The thugs working on the instruction of Ijumu LGA sole administrator, Taofik Isah, whose identity are known during the attack are, Aliyu Fatai, Karimi Aliyu and Shola Balogun.

“Fatai Aliyu, who is also the APC party chairman for Okoro/Odokoro/Araromi ward, led other thugs to destroy chairs, deface PDP posters and unleash violence on PDP campaign team and supporters at Okoro-Odokoro-Araromi ward of Ijumu LGA,” he said.

He called on members and supporters of PDP to remain law abiding.

“We shall not engage those who have been rejected by the people in such dirty, barbaric and uncivilized act of politics. We remain resolute, focused and firm in our believe at exercising our democratic rights to campaign and canvass for votes, anchored on democracy which is the govt of the people, by the people and for the people.”

Reacting to the attacks, former state chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Comrade Oladele Nihi berated the ruling party for the shameful act.

“This morning, I was here praising our people for their peaceful conduct of campaign among the different political parties so far but like they say, any family that is peaceful, the BASTARD CHILD there is yet to be born.

“Today in Odo-koro Gbede in Ijumu LGA of Kogi State, hometown of Mr. Taofiq Isa, Kogi State ALGON Chairman, few thugs led by his sons, Isah Wale and Ayo Wahab threw stones from a distance at the convoy of PDP Kogi West Senatorial District Campaign Team vandalizing two (2) cars. One of the cars belong to Hon. Abiodun Ojo and the other Elder Olalekan Aiyenigba."

Presidential Election And The Interest Of Okun Nation

I want to remind Okun nation of some basic facts expected to guide our decision making come February 16, 2019 when we shall be voting for another president.

We have it on record that during Obasanjo/ Atiku tenure as President and Vice President respectively (1999-2007), Okun people were the envy of our brothers in north central. We were first class citizens of Nigeria.

That was a time you will raise your head so high to say “I am from Okun”.

The Obasanjo/Atiku government favored our people. The government was about merit and we have them in abundance. We had first class ministers in juicy ministries overseeing important agencies, we had the prestigious deputy chief of staff who was a center of attention in government, we had media adviser to the president, we had heads of agencies and so on.

Within the eight years Obasanjo/Atiku held sway, Okun nation had the likes of General David Jemibewon serving as Minister for Police Affairs, Mr. Kola Jamodu as Minister for Industries, Chief Bayo Ojo as Minister of Justice/Attorney General of the Federation, Prof. Eyitayo Lambo as Minister for Health. None was a junior minister.

Atiku himself love our people. He was in Ayetoro Gbede, Ijumu local government during the thanksgiving of our leader, Prince Olusola Akanmode and he donated generously to our course.

What am I driving at? Baba Obasanjo and Atiku are on the same page as to who to rule this country as president come February 16. These are people who know us a race. We are just five local government and yet we are giant and mightier than so many states because those in power love us.

We have another opportunity to bring back the good old days, we must not vote for PDP, APC or ADC this time, we must vote for Okun interest as represented in Atiku’s candidature whose party is the PDP.

These are people who has demonstrated love for us in the past. It is time to reciprocate by voting for Atiku massively so we can reap bountiful harvest.

I am not writing this as a PDP member but as true son of Okun who desire to see a brighter future. Let us ponder on this and make the right choice.

God bless Okun Kingdom.

– Adetayo Opeyemi Duke writes from Ayetoro Gbede, Kogi State.

Police in hide and seek, yet to comply with Court Bail Order on Sen Dino Melaye.

Despite the high court order of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Maitama on Friday 18, January 2019 which granted bail to Sen Dino Melaye, Kogi West, we wish to intimate Nigerians and indeed the world that Nigerian Police is yet to comply with the court order which stipulate his release.

The court judgment as obtained granting Sen Dino Melaye is clear and explicit enough for Nigerian police to understand and comply with. We consider this ploy by the Nigerian police as an affront, disturbing and insult to the nation's judicial system and rule of law.

As we speak, Nigerian police authority have seen and received the court order, instead of them to comply, some actors behind the Melaye's ordeal are pressurizing the police to confront and disrespect the judiciary.
This is unacceptable in a democratic setting, where police is expected to observe, respect and protect the rights of every citizen.

It could be recalled that Justice Yusuf Halilu of Maitama high court, Abuja who gave the bail order following the application by counsel to Sen Melaye, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), the presiding judge noted that Sen Dino Melaye must be healthy to stand trial. He said since the Senator cannot be arraigned on the stretcher or on hospital bed, he should be allowed on bail to attend to his health and subsequently gave the order.

On the hide seek attempts by the Nigerian police to molest court orders at will and particularly in the case of Sen Dino Melaye, we call so other civil society organizations, Nigerian media, Nigerian Bar Association, (NBA) all democratic partners and Nigerians from all strata to rise up once again and defend the constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria from attempt to by Nigerian police to shred it.

Muhammad M. Muhammad
JUSTICE AND FREEDOM WATCH, ABUJA.

Protect Our Members From APC Thugs, Kogi ADC Tells Police.

We condemn the continous attacks on our party members by armed thugs of the All Progressive Congress(APC) in Kogi State. This violent trend is unacceptable and unfortunate. This trend must stop and by condemn by all. The security agencies in Kogi State must be aware.

The Kogi State Chapter of African Democratic Congress(ADC), has called Kogi State Police Command to, without delay, address and halt further attacks on its members by rampaging and sponsored alleged APC thugs in Kogi State.

Bashir Ibrahim Ellah, ADC Publicity Secretary in Kogi State states this in Lokoja on Monday.

In a statement issued on Monday, the party said the continous attacks on its members by ADC thugs is condemnable and unacceptable.

"Barely 48 hours(Saturday) that our campaign train, buses and members were ambushed and attacked in Agbenema in Ayingba, another group of thugs have attacked ADC members in EJULE, OFU LGA,  yesterday Monday.

"At the moment, members of our party have been seriously injured and properties destroyed.

The security agencies in Kogi State should perform their constitutional duties of securing lives and properties of the citizenry and ensuring a peaceful environment for everyone’s choice of association.

Why We Have Mammoth Crowd At ADC Dekina/Bassa Rally. Despite Attack By APC Thugs.

The State Publicity Secretary of African Democratic Congress(ADC), Bashir Ibrahim Ellah said the mammoth crowd witnessed at the Saturday ADC rally in Dekina is an acceptance of the party and endorsement of all the party candidates in Kogi East.

Mammoth crowd again witnessed the Saturday ADC Dekina/Bassa campaign rally in Dekina even as suspected APC thugs were alleged to have attacked some members of the party in Ayingba.

The rally which held on Saturday in spite of attack by Hoodlums was a symbolic endorsement of all the party candidates across Kogi East Senatorial District, the State Party Spokesman said.

Credible source revealed that, the suspected political thugs on Saturday vandalized campaign buses and party secretariat in a bid to install fear in members of the party not to attend the rally.
The unwarranted destruction occurred at Agbenema in Ayingba while party faithfuls were getting ready for the rally slated to hold in Dekina.

Undeterred by the attack, large numbers of people stormed the rally ground in support of the party(See Photos)

The State Publicity Secretary of the party therefore urged all members of the party who overwhelmingly trooped out in large numbers to remain resolute and undeterred.
He as well called on all other members of the party across the state not to be weary or afraid, he assures the will of Kogites will prevail no matter the intimidation and harassment from any quarter.

Open Letter: I will teach you a bitter lesson, Buhari To Obasanjo

President Muhammadu Buhari has vowed to teach ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo “and his co-travellers” a political lesson they will never forget.
In a statement which Garba Shehu, presidential spokesman, issued on his behalf, Buhari accused the former president of being hostile to leaders he has no control over.
He described him as someone who lacks the moral standing to criticise his administration.
The statement was issued in response to the latest criticism of Obasanjo.
The elder statesman had alleged that Buhari was taking the country down the path of Sani Abacha, former military dictator.
Denying the allegation, Shehu said Obasanjo needed to visit his doctor for treatment.
“The sixteen-page letter the former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, wrote to President Muhammadu Buhari and released this afternoon is the last push by desperate politicians who can’t handle the President politically and have resorted to subterfuge,” the statement read.
“Our first message to the former President is that he needs a good doctor for good treatment and to say to him, ‘Get well soon’.”
“As repeatedly said of him, since Chief Obasanjo left office in 1979, he never let every succeeding leader of the country function freely, and this included the one he personally handpicked against all known rules drawn up by the party that put him in the office of the President. But Chief Obasanjo is jealous because President Buhari has more esteem than him and the sooner he learns to respect him the better.
“It is a notorious fact that in dealing with any leader that he failed to control, he resorted to these puerile attacks. As the grand patron, more correctly the grandfather of corruption as described by the National Assembly, Chief Obasanjo released today’s letter purely for the reason of rescuing his thriving corruption establishment.
The elections starting in February will be free and fair as promised the nation and the international community by President Buhari.
“What Chief Obasanjo and his co-travelers in the PDP should expect is that from the outcome, we will teach them a political lesson that they will never forget. This margin will be much bigger than we had in 2015.”
He also denied the allegations of Obasanjo that the Buhari administration had started recruiting the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) who would be used to rig the exercise.
“Claims that President Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have embarked on the president’s “self- succession project, by recruiting collation officers who are already awarding results based on their projects to actualise the perpetuation agenda, in which the people will not matter and the votes will not count” is not only utterly false, but a copious note from the book on the failed third term agenda of President Obasanjo,” the statement read.
“As for his attacks of the administration’s records in fighting corruption, what the former President said is no more than evidence that President Buhari’s war against corruption is succeeding. They thought it is all a joke.
“A leader who took USD 16 billion “upfront” to supply electric power yet failed to add a single megawatt to the national grid and to date, there is no trace of the money is jittery that he will be called to account. He is a coward.
“This language of his 16-page letter, likening President Buhari to General Sani Abacha, a man he dreaded and the one who jailed him under military laws is most unfitting from a former President of Nigeria.
“The claim that President Buhari has put in place rigging machinery is both outlandish and outrageous. We are unable to get the words to describe a 90-year old liar, except to say that by the publication of this tissue of lies against the President, he Obasanjo, not the President will fall from everyone’s esteem.”
