Political leaders from Kogi West Senatorial District yesterday visited Tawari to commiserate with the people over the recent invasion by armed men which led to loss of lives. The leaders also donated relief materials to survivors to cushion the hardship that they may experience as a result of the crisis.
The team led by All Progressives Congress (APC) leader from the area, Elder Benjamin Olowodola, were first received by the Aguma of Tawari, Alhaji Yusuf Tawari in his palace which was also torched during the mayhem.
The Aguma recounted the experience and how he narrowly escaped what he described as the most devastating attack of his life. He said he escaped death by the whiskers as the assailants burnt his residence while family members were asleep. He wondered why anyone could contemplate attacking a peaceful, law abiding and homogenous community which have cohabited with neighbours over several centuries.
A former Kogi West senatorial candidate, Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi said they were in the community to commiserate with the people and also contribute their quota in the rebuilding of the ruins left behind by the attackers. Responding, the Administrator of Kogi LGA Barr Mohammed Sanni who received the delegation thanked them for identifying with the people in their time of needs.
