Okun Youth decry rancorous disputes among leaders.

The leadership of Okun Youth Leader’s Forum has frown at the public outburst among political leaders from the zone, especially the recent face-off between Senator Dino Melaye and Administrator of Ijumu Local Government Hon. Taofiq Isah.
The group described a situation where Okun leaders are seen to publicly throw insults at one another on media platforms as disappointing, disgraceful and unacceptable to the youth of the zone.
At this point in our life and as the leaders of today, we do not need leaders who will due to political interest reduce Okun land to a laughing stock among other zones by publicly calling one another derogatory name on social media.

The President of the forum, Alamoh Kehinde Samuel issued the statement yesterday in Abuja while addressing other issues concerning the Forum.

While addressing issues, he made reference to Hon. James Abiodun Faleke who despite all have conducted himself in a more civilized way, and has never exchange words with anyone even when insulted.

We are pleading with our leaders to henceforth endeavor to resolve political issues amicably among themselves instead of publicly attacking one another on social media and as well, mind the kind of words they use on media space while addressing issues concerning the zone.

We cannot continue to watch; our leaders must take into cognizance the kind of legacy they are leaving behind for the youth. It’s unfortunate that the recent happening in Okun land where one leader tagged another a bastard is totally unacceptable as this tends to portray us in bad light and subject us to mockery and ridicule among other zones.

We cannot remain divided and expect progress and development in our land, he said.

The President also said the forum is ready to protest against the political leadership of the land if need be.
We are ready to protest and fight to secure our future if that we correct the wrongs.
Our leaders should be more interested in uniting us and bringing the needed development to our land rather than publicly confronting and embarrassing one another.
No group or zone can divide and rule us.

While we also appreciate, and will commend any reconciliatory effort made by anyone, we must emphasize that such move must be borne out of genuine intensions for the interest of the land and nothing less.

The President also briefly mentioned that 2019 election will be all about the Youth. We shall mobilized and campaign for any one of us who is the genuinely interested in contesting election, nobody can shortchange the Youth this time.

We are already discussing and consulting with youth of unquestionable character and unmatchable pedigree to come out and run for election, he concluded.
