Okene Multipurpose Civic Centre |
Senator Ahmed Ogembe, (PDP, Kogi Central) has said that
the welfare of the people is being given priority, just as he donated
twenty-five motorised boreholes to the five local government areas that
made up the district.
The
boreholes, spread across the five council areas of the district, Adavi,
Okene, Okehi, Ogorimagongo and Ajaokuta, was meant to solve the problem
of shortage of water in the areas.
Ogembe,
who conducted newsmen round his achievements to mark his one year in
office, also donated six transformers to the district to boost power
supply.
He further disclosed that work has reached an advanced stage at the Okene multipurpose civic centre.
Ogembe,
who was represented by his media aide, Mr Opeyemi Duke, conducted
newsmen round the five council areas, described his achievements in one year as evident that he is determined to give priority to the welfare of the people in his district.
"It
is evident that we have a representative at the senate, who is ready to
give priority to the welfare of his people. His choice of project was
selective and with a view to immediately address the challenge of water
and electricity problems.
Speaking
on the civic centre in Okene, Duke said it was the initiative of the
senator when he was the local government chairman, which he could not
complete because he left before the end of his tenure.
"The
senator initiated the idea of the civic centre to serve as a rallying
point for the people of the council area, but could not complete it
then, as he won the election to the senate.
"He therefore decided to complete the project to achieve his dream of bringing the people together under one roof, "he said.
The
media aide however listed other constituency projects by the senator to
include massive empowerment that will have direct impact on the people
in view of the current economy recession.
He
thanked the people for their mandate and urged them to remain
supportive as he is determined to do his best in ensuring that they have
good representation at the senate.
