Kogi Lawmakers Gang Up Against Yahaya Bello

  • Kogi Lawmakers Gang Up Against Yahaya Bello

Warn Him Not To Sell State Assets

All three Senators from Kogi State have warned against Governor Yahaya Bello not to embark on plans to sell properties belonging to the state government.

Addressing journalists in Abuja on Monday, the lawmakers who came under the umbrella of SAVE KOGI PROJECT vow to resist move by the state governor to trade away the common patrimony of the people of Kogi State under the guise of privatization policy.

The lawmakers believe the plan is ill-fated and designed to steal from the people.

Inaugurating the Executive members of SAVE Kogi Project,  Senator Dino Melaye (Kogi West) who doubles as the Chairman of the group wonders why the state government which has not added anything to projects inherited since it came to power now wants to sell off what it inherited.

Melaye questions recent verification of civil servants in the state; arguing that despite spending a whopping sum of N1 billion, nothing has come out of the exercise.

"Of what essence was the verification of Kogi Workers that after spending a whopping N1 billion, nothing came out of the exercise", he said.

Melaye blames current crisis in Kogi on the lukewarm attitude of the Presidency and the leadership of All Progressive Congress, (APC).

He said the decision of INEC to transfer Yahaya Bello's temporary voter card to Okenni underscores his claims that Bello was not qualified to contest as governor from the start.

Speaking, Senator Atai Aidoko said 'Save Kogi Project', has become necessary to quickly rescue Kogi from abysmal failure of leadership in the state, pointing out that Kogi has never had it so bad.

Also joining forces in the gang up to root Yahaya Bello from office are former Senator Mohammed Ohiare and Senator Ahmed Ogbembe representing Kogi Central.

Even though Ogbembe was not at the meeting, he sent a representation.

The lawmakers were unanimous in the verdict to wrest power from Yahaya Bello and what they describe as a reign of bad leadership in the state.

They vow to confront Bello using every available legal means to achieve their aim.

Kogi is in Nigeria's North Central!
