NIGERIANS ARE YET TO HAVE CONFIDENCE IN PDP GOVERNORS

The attention of the Citizens Centre for Democratic Governance has been drawn to the statement credited to the PDP governors’ forum, where the group “passed a vote of no confidence on INEC, claiming that “INEC has conducted itself as a tool to the APC-led federal government and therefore needs to reinvent itself

While it is a good idea for individuals and group to articulateand makes an opinion public, it is actually better if that opinion as made public contains prove, especially when it has the capacity to derogate a personality or an office. Hence, the claim that “there is a role been played by Prof. Mahmood Yakubu the INEC chairman and Amina Zakari a National Commissioner,” is a mere concoction of fabricated lies by a group of supposed Excellency’s.

The records are there and they are clear enough for all to see.Evidences that INEC is truly an independent umpire has been seen in its unbiased naturewhich characterized the Ondo, Edo,Anambra and Ekiti State Gubernatorial elections which was free and fair with little or no litigation to contest the outcomes. In fact, the recent suspension of the House of Assembly bye-election for Port Harcourt Constituency 3 shows that Prof. Mahmood heads aprestigious INEC with no intent to pally with the APC.

The PDP governors are clearly scared of the battles ahead. Why? They have seen an umpire that will not fall for the Ghana-must-go antics which they are used to. Hence, the only option left is to destroy the image of the commission and make it loose credence before the people. Sadly, Nigerians are yet to have confidence in the PDP governors themselves. There is no need to get worried about these untrusted persons who are asking us not to trust others.
INEC is ready to work and INEC has shown signs that its will do all within its best to ensure a free, fair and credible 2019 general elections. Nigerian from all works of life must rally around INEC to ensure a fruitful exercise by coming out to vote, discourage vote selling, ballot snatching and all other forms of electoral malpractices.
