The National Secretariat of the National Association of Kogi State Students(NAKOSS) alleged that the Commissioner for Youth, Com. Salisu Ogu and the S.A Youth Empowerment, Sport and Students Matters have illegally hijacked N5m released by the State Government for the successful conduct of the Association National Convention.
In a Press statement released in Lokoja by the leadership of the Association, the National President of the Association, Com. Ahmed Usman Shehu, accused the state government appointees of hijacking and diversion of the N5m students convention money.

COMMISSIONER FOR YOUTH AND SPORTS (HON SANI OGUH SALISU) AND HON MD ESEYIN ( S.A ON YOUTH EMPOWERMENT, SPORT AND STUDENT MATTERS) AND OTHERS HIJACK FIVE MILLION NAIRA NAKOSS CONVENTION FUND FOR VENDETTA PURPOSE.

Fellow great Students of Kogi State, it has become very expedient for the National Secretariat of NAKOSS to come out and make clarifications on the allegations that Kogi State Government has approved the sum of Five Million (₦5,000,000) Naira for the conduct of forthcoming NATIONAL NAKOSS CONVENTION.
To this effect, we wish to state without recourse that the NATIONAL SECRETARIAT OF NAKOSS is not in any way in disposition of the alleged sum of Money.
However, we are aware that the Commissioner of Youth and Sport , Prince Sani Oguh and the Special Adviser to the Governor of Kogi State on Youth Empowerment, Sports and Students matters who are neither members of the Association nor in any way legitimate authorities to negotiate on behalf of the Association were the ones who actually collected this Sum without the knowledge of the Association.
Therefore, we will not allow any set of Persons to mortgage the future of Kogi State Students for any reason. For the avoidance of doubt, it should be noted that the Commissioner of Youth Empowerment and Sports has no right to interfere in student matters and even the Special Adviser to the Governor on Students Affairs has limitation to the extent at which he can interfere in Student Matters.
It should be noted that before this time, the current leadership of NATIONAL NAKOSS do not have a cordial relationship with the Special Adviser to Governor on Youth Empowerment, Sports and Students matters owing to his dubious and greedy life style. Hon M.D ESEYIN has numerously involved in the extortion of students association. Most recent was the hijack of the mobilization fund that was released to the Association during the APC MEGA RALLY which he failed to until he was confronted by the students who held him at ransom until he remitted the money.
Hon Sani Oguh Salisu has no record in the roll call of past executives of the Association at the National level nor is he in any way a custodian of Kogi State Students and therefore lacks the capacity to get involved on the processes of NAKOSS NATIONAL CONVENTION. It should be noted that he contested for the position of NATIONAL NAKOSS President in the year 2010 but lost to Comrade Idrisu Yahaya AKA Dutchman because he was unpopular. Subsequently, he also contested for the position the Chairman NATIONAL YOUTH COUNCIL OF NIGERIA, Kogi State chapter in the year 2010 and 2013 but was also defeated because of His unpopularity.
We are therefore calling on the government of Kogi State to beware of the antecedents and the true intentions behind the actions of these government functionaries as it is obvious that all they are interested in is the extortion of money from the government in the name of Kogi State Students and as well use this as an avenue to impose candidates on the students without passing through the proper channel or procedures for the conduct of NAKOSS NATIONAL CONVENTION as contained in the Association's Constitution.
We also want to call on the Stakeholders who are recognised by the Constitution as an arm of the Association to come to our aide to avoid imposition and denting of the Association's image. Because it is obvious their intention is to hijack the Association and as well impose their candidate of choice on the Studehts without the consultation of the Association's executives and the Stakeholders.
To further make clarifications for the avoidance, yesterday being the 16th of March 2018, a meeting of Stakeholders which was called to put in place safe atmosphere for the convention was cancelled just one hour to the time of the meeting and the rationale behind this is their fear for their can of infamous and dubious activities to be revealed.
The singular intention of Hon Sani Oguh Salisu is to use NAKOSS for vendetta purposes due to his series of defeat in both NAKOSS and NYCN Kogi State chapter.
Conclusively, the sum of Five Million Naira collected in the name of NAKOSS is neither in the disposition of the Association's leadership either in cash or in the Association's account but rather with the Commissioner for Youth Empowerment and the Special Adviser to the Governor on student matters. Rumour also has it that after even collecting this Sum of Five Million Naira, the working figure trending in town is One Million, Five Hundred Naira Only.
