Kabba Day of My dream: A practical expression of cultural renaissance & strenght of Unity... Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi

Kabba Day Cultural Fedtival is an event that has become phenomenal in its own class and has successfully entered national and internation class of outstanding cultural events in West Africa. Many will wonder why I am so emphatic and what parameter I used to conclude and perharps hastily. Kabba Day, apart from being an event celebrated in a community so priviledged to be the signpost for very many communities and great people that occupies what is today known as OKUNLAND in Kogi State and ofcourse, the Yoruba speaking people of Kogi State, It is an event that  commands class, exhumes elegance and epitomizes excellence.

Not too many people are aware that this historic yearly ritual did not begin 100 years ago, the occassion that is so young in age has assumed the place of the most acceptable and unprecedentedly unifying status in Nigeria. In 2017, I was privileged to be nominated into the Central Planning Committee of the heroic event through the graciousness and benevolence of unassumingly great Engr Emmanuel Ajibero, President-General of Kabba Development Union and eventually became the Spokesperson for the Committee. The event, though demanding, offered me the rare opportunity to relate very closely with elders and patriots of the great Owe Kingdom.

In the course of discharging my duties, I discovered intelligence, commitment, patriotism and love in all the committee members, of exceptional note is our indefatigable Prident-General, Engr Emmanuel Ajibero and our Central Planning Committee Chairman, resourceful and articulate Ralph Okomoda. We were so united, irrepressible and indivisible that we achieved feats that gave Kabba Day an A class status in Nigeria. Our resolute spirit and unquencheable zeal made noticeable flaws meaningless and mistakes pardonable. Committee members left personal businesses and pleasure for community service, members spent personal resources for the course, every single indegen worked and toiled hard, seeing the commitment of a focused and informed leadership. At the end of 2017 celebration, Kabba Day in a year won sponsorship rights of three multinationals and rated very high for sponsorship and business development. Africa's telecommunications giant and leading service provider, Globacomm Plc, International brewery company and world acclaimed organization, GUINESS PLC and very respected NESTLE Plc have all sealed arrangement of sponsorship and will be LIVE at the 2018 grand  event. To assume such enviable height and inconcievable status is what has remain an unphatomable puzzle to many.

This shared success has revealed to me that indeed, there is strenght in UNITY. The experience of these two years have taught me personal lessons and has given us new opportunities to STARDOM as a people, it has opened frontiers of businesses to people and availed many the opportunity of a career path, the event has set aside another festive period the people. We shall not relax in  our quests, we shall remain united in our resolves and we shall continue to break more grounds, attain greater heights and record milestones. This readily bring me to the place of right leadership in public or community service. The success story of Kabba Day obviously and unarguably finds its roots from the place of leadership of Kabba Development Union and the Central Planning Committee, the combination of Engr Emmanuel Ajibero and Mr Ralph Okomoda is the magic wand Owe people discovered and judiciously utilized though not exhaustively in the last two years. Engr Ajibero, offered unassailable and excellent leadership that is potent enough to flog a dead horse back to active service, he is simple, humble, intellectually mobile and exceptionally patriotic. We must therefore always ensure to put competent hands into public offices if indeed we desire progress.

As we all gather tomorrow for the grand finale of a week of cultural adventure, I give glory to God on behalf of the entire committee for making us see a new Kabba Day. I congratulate our Royal Father and epitome of royalty, Oba Solomon Dele Owoniyi, Otitoleke Oweyomade 1, Obaro of Kabba, Chairman Okun Area Traditional Council, Engr Emmanuel Ajibero, President-General, Kabba Development Union, Mr Ralph Okomoda, Chairman, Central Planning Committee and welcome  Special Guest, Alh Yahaya Bello, Grand Royal Father, Oonirisa Adimula Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja ll, Ooni of Ife, Iba Gani Adams, Are Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba Land  and the entire people to the 2018 Kabba Day Festival.

Owe agbe gha o !
