More talents discovered as Sunday Adeleye holds 3rd edition of S.O Adeleye Foundation 10km race

The 3rd edition of the annual Sunday Adeleye Foundation 10Km race came with surprises as more talented youth were discovered.

The championship sponsored by the Nigerian Ex-International and the Technical Director, Atheletics Federation of Nigeria, Hon. Sunday Adeleye recorded great success as athletes turned out in their numbers and return an impressive time in the 10km distance race.

Adeleye stated that the process of excelling in sports requires and inculcates in the child the attributes of discipline, friendship, fair play, good conduct, high morals, abstinence from bad habits, leadership, patriotism, determination, focus, responsibility, team work and the spirit to accept failure only as a stepping stone to bigger success.
These he said are essential life tools that the uninitiated often pay for in adulthood and the championship in the last 3 years have been able to achieved.
The quartermiller turned politician confirmed his  committment to developing the potentials of the state’s sports men and women as part of efforts to rebuild sports in the state and in the country at large.
Adeleye however lamented the attitude of our governments at various levels towards sport development especially at the grassroots. Though he affirmed that the government alone can not do everything but could do the little they can. urge private individuals and organisational bodies to collaborate with the government, such development and collaboration he said would go a long way to encourage talented youths and enable them excel in national and international events.
“There are talented youths in kogi state. These talents can be groomed and promoted to the highest level in areas of sports and we are committed to achieving this. Very soon Nigeria will depend on kogi state for their athletes for national and international championships" he said.
Cash donations where showered on the winners, ranging from 50,000 to 10,000 to winners from 1st position to the 5th position in both the male and female categories.

Also at the championship is Hon Oyeyemi Otitoju, the SDP candidate for the Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu federal constituency in the next national election. He commended the sponsor, promise to support him in subsequent championships.
