Tension, as kidnappers take over Kogi Obajana road.

Residents of Kogi State, especially motorists and travellers that ply Obajana/Oshokoshoko routes, are apprehensive over the recent activities of kidnappers around the area. Regularly, motorists and their passengers are abducted and taken hostage, in a thick forest. Huge sums of money are paid as ransom. In many cases, victims are killed by the abductors after collecting huge ransoms.

Last week, precisely on Friday, a young man from Kabba and his wife were hijacked and kidnapped by bandits along the Obajana road.

Hours after the incident, some individuals were also said to have also  escaped being abducted along the same route the next day. This occurred less than 24hours after the earlier one.

What baffles motorists and concerned citizens, is the quick progression at which the incidents occurred despite heavy presence of both police and army checkpoints along the stretch of Obajana, to the boundary of Kabba.

The Leakages checks show that, combined, there are more than enough police and army checkpoints on the stretch of road.
