Tribute to a great leader and good person, Mr. Jimmy Olumudi
Good people die everyday. Yet not all of them affirm for us the goodness in humanity and leadership the way the late former Assistant Comptroller General (ACG) of Customs, Mr. Jimmy Olumudi did.
He passed away and left a legacy of positive experiences for anyone who took the time to know him, which wasn’t a hard thing to do. Most likely you don’t know Mr Jimmy Olumudi but you can learn from the legacy he left. He was an unsung hero.
His passion and hard work led him to become a great leader especially within the community with the ability to manage people and minds. The fact is, we have too few examples of great leader like him.
However, we have the privilege of celebrating someone who epitomizes leadership, someone whose life reflects a heart of service and commitment to faith, family, friends, and certainly his community and humanity at large.
Mr Jimmy Olumudi was a man of many facets, Altruist, Leader, Philanthropist, and a fulfilled career officer of the Nigerian Custom Service.
A contemplative man by nature he took family, business, and community to the heart of his existence.
You will be greatly missed but your footprints can not be easily forgotten nor wiped away in the sand of life.
My heartfelt condolences to the Olumudi family, KDU and the entire Kabba community as I pray that God will give you strength in this period and beyond and to rest him in peace.

SIR JIMMY OLUMUDI, PASSAGE OF A FINE OFFICER AND QUINTESSENTIAL COMMUNITY LEADER...Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi
The news of the unexpected and painful passage on to glory of our dearly beloved compatriot, quintessential community leader, diligent Assistant Comptroller General of Customs rtd, social engineer and reliable stalwart of All Progressive Congress, Sir Jimmy Olumudi came as a rude shock but has continued to reverberate and painfully sound in my ears and mind. The sad event which took place in the unforgettable after of Thursday 26th June, 2020 is one that has left the entire Okere royal family, Owe people, Okun community, Kogi indegene and entire nation sad, perplexed, touched and bereaved.
Sir Jimmy Olumudi, a committed Catholic, loving father, responsive Boss and responsible leader is(was) one individual who spent his little above seventy years serving humanity with such unequal humility, ACG Jimmy Olumudi is(was) a patriotic Nigerian who served the nation at the Nigeria Customs Service with candour, demeanour, integrity, commitment and retired very meritoriously, as an Assistant Comptroller General of Customs. His uniqueness and outstanding traits are embedded in his humble disposition, benevolent characteristics and uncompromising tendency.
My first encounter with the iconic man and fulfilled elder statesman, was as a Bulletin Boy at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Kabba, almost three decades ago. He was such a generous serving customs officer that he would ask that I keep the change whenever he picked a Bulletin, no matter the denomination of the currency, besides his generosity at the church gate, sir Olumudi was the biggest donor for any church or community donations that time. As a former student union leader, I had course to interact with him severaly almost two decades ago, one unforgettable one was with Henry Irewole(then President of Okun students and now a Customs officer) and Motunrayo Alamoh(the now popular Òlòwò Sibi presenter on Africa Magic Yoruba), Daddy Olumudi in a short, modelled us, mentored us and encourage us into the future we are now proud of.
After meritorious retirement, Sir Jimmy Olumudi shocked the entire Owe people and his friends when he refused to live in the luxurious VI Lagos, alluring Maitama Abuja or any part of the world like people of his calibre do, he imbued the act of patriotism and returned home, established industries such as Jivco Bread, Jivcon Hotels, Jivco Quarry and many more, all in the bid to create employment for the teeming unemployed youths of Kogi State. Sir Jimmy Olumudi stayed behind at home, nurtured a business he would never need a kobo from, grew people he would never need their help, established social clubs he would never seek help from, mentored youths that were never his biological children and helped sustain an egalitarian society he didn't wait to benefit from.
As a retired Assistant Comptroller General of Customs who ordinarily should always return there to get contracts and favour, he once said ever since he retired from Customs, he never stepped his feet on the soil of Customs again, that was the level of contentment and principles he exhibited. In the community, one will expect a typical Nigerian highly placed and well connected like Sir Olumudi to demonstrate affluence, abuse privileges and take advantage of his contact to oppres, acquire wealth and also be deep rooted in self inclined political activities, he rather humbled himself, carry himself with every sense of humility and demonstrated very uncommon candour.
It is impossible to pen the best words to describe a man who assisted without noise, a man who gave without notice and a man who lived for others to live. As mortal we are confident that sir Jimmy Olumudi has done his part and now resting at the feet of Jesus, we are consoled by his useful life and immeasurable generosity, we immortalize him in our hearts as we remember his good works, we celebrate rather than mourning because he came, he saw and he conquered.
Adieu Okèrè lila
Adieu Owe'mèlèbò
Adieu Sir Jimmy Olumudi
PAINFUL EXIT OF AN OUTSTANDING PROFESSIONAL, VISIONARY, PACE-SETTING COMMUNITY LEADER: CHIEF JIMMY OLUMUDI (1948 - 2020)
It is with a deep sense of pain that I give this Tribute in honour of a most distinguished and illustrious son of Oweland; Chief Jimmy Olumudi, who passed away yesterday, Friday, June 26th, 2020.
The untimely death of our very dear, loving and compassionate Chief Jimmy Olumudi is not only an irreparable loss to the entire Olumudi Family, but also, to every son and daughter of Oweland.
Indeed, in his entire lifetime; in public service, post-retirement and private engagements, Chief Jimmy Olumudi was always committed to the good, and general well being of every Owe person, as well as his passion for the growth and development of Kabba.
At every point in his successful career in the Nigerian Customs Service; whence he rose to the rank of Assistant Comptroller-General, he leveraged on his position, influence and opportunities to facilitate the employment of many Owe sons into the strategic government agency. Ever driven by strong passion and desire for Kabba and indigenes, he replicated same gestures whilst he was the pioneer Chief Executive of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.
Following his glorious retirement from public service in 2004, Chief Jimmy Olumudi continued to render uncommon and unusual support to many Owe sons and daughters. As a most respected community leader, unknown to many people, even in retirement, he was still committed to the career progression, employment facilitation and economic empowerment of some indigenes of Oweland.
Though painful that Oweland has lost a visionary, selfless and altruistic personality at a time when his legendary drive and enviable passion for community development is most needed, but we take solace that he lived a most fulfilling life. In all his endeavor and relationship with people, he lived a life of unimaginable humility, unapologetic desire and quest for meaningful community development, as well as service to God Almighty and humanity.
It is my prayer that our Creator will grant him eternal peace in His bosom. Also, I pray that God Almighty will grant his immediate and the entire Olumudi Family the grace to bear the irreparable loss, Amen.

Bunu Youth hails Iluke- Aiyetoro Kiri-Abugi-Eggan Road Construction Award
The president of Bunu Youth Forum, Otunba Kingsley Mokikan has expressed appreciation to the Federal Government on the recent award of the Iluke-Aiyetoro Kiri-Abugi-Eggan road.
Otunba Mokikan explained the importance of the road to the communities along the Bunu axis of Kabba/Bunu local government area of Kogi state.
In his expression said that reducing the distance between people, markets, services and knowledge or simply getting people connected is a great part of what economic growth is all about.
"Although virtual connectivity has become increasingly important today with the emergence of new communication avenues- which we still lack in major part of Bunu land, a good and reliable transport network remains vital. There is a very strong positive correlation between a community's economic development and the quality of its road network.
Why applauding the decision of the Federal Executive Council in considering the road for attention at this time, thanked everyone who has contributed in one way or the other in ensuring that the road construction is not only approved and awarded but to also appropriated and funds mobilised for implementation.
"The Bunu people of note wants to appreciate the efforts and initiative of the Otunba of Bunu Kingdom, Senator Dino Melaye who have consistently built the road in the budget and following up which today is finally seeing the light of the day".
"We also thank every stakeholder in the present administration both at the state and Federal towards the actualisation of this laudable project".
"We pray that God will reward and repay everyone's input".
"Bunu people can not thank you enough as we earnestly await the commencement of work at the site soonest" he concluded.
ILUKE-KIRI-KUPA ROAD CONSTRUCTION: Olowodola commends President Buhari & GYB for this dividend of democracy.
Kogi philanthropist and All Progressive Congress leader in Kabba, Elder Benjamin Olowodola has commended the APC led government at the Federal and State levels for the effective collaborative efforts that has resulted in the award of contract for the construction of the almost elusive Bunu-Kupa road, a road that is strategically at the centre of the economy of the villages around this axis. He says the decision and subsequent approval has brought sweet taste and pride of his participation in politics back.
The Elder statesman who is reputed to be a community developer and one that has spent hundreds of millions in that regard says he is exited because the long suffering for APC is yielding fruitful results for the benefit of the masses. Elder Olowodola describes this decision of the federal government as timely and unprecedented to these our people that have been neglected for many decades.
*When the news of the federal executive council approval for the construction of the road came to me, it came as a soothing surprise and pleasant act that is timely as we come out of the scourge of coronavirus, the best meaning that I can give to this good news is that government of President Buhari has the people of Kogi West at heart, I commend him seriously for that, I also commend our Senator who didn't stop lobbying until the project came to fruition and I thank the Governor too for all the support he gave. The resultant effect is that a section of my people are seeing dividend of democracy which has a positive spiral effect on the entire people of Kogi State* the Elder statesman says
Chief Olowodola however charged the communities around the road to own the project by giving all possible support to the contractor when construction starts. He also seized this opportunity to appeal to the Federal authorities to accelerate action towards the immediate take off of Kabba- Egbe- Ilorin road.
