APC Members Stormed Party Secretariat, Demand Oyegun's Removal.

Some protesters on the platform of Save APC and Democracy Youth Vanguard have called for the removal of John Oyegun, national chairman of the ruling party.
The protesters, who stormed the headquarters of the ruling party on Monday, displayed placards which read: ‘Remove Oyegun now’, ‘Stop violating party constitution’, ‘Audit APC account now’ among others.
Oyegun, who was seen making his way into the secretariat during protest, appeared to be unruffled.
Speaking with journalists on Monday, Peter Oyewole, leader of the group, said if Oyegun is not removed, he would continue to “rubbish” the efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Oyewole said the level of “corruption and imposition going on under Oyegun is alarming”.
“Since 2015, the budget of APC has not been made public. Since 2015, the ruling party has not held crucial meetings. These are enough reasons to remove the national chairman. We demand the removal of Oyegun now.
“We are also saying enough this enough to imposition of candidates at all level by Oyegun-led NWC. The imposition in APC today is a mockery of the anti-corruption war of president Buhari.
“If Oyegun is not removed he will continue to rubbish the efforts of the president, especially in fighting corruption because you can not give what you don’t have.

“If Oyegun is not removed within the next one month, the APC youths will picket this national secretariat and make a no-go-area for everybody.”

PDP National Convention: NPS Aspirant, Bar. Usman Kabiru fingered in misappropriation of PDP Campaign funds.

A former Director of Publicity of the PDP Wada/Awoniyi campaign Organisation,  Bar. Usman Kabiru has been fingered in misappropriation of funds meant for the success of the party in the 2015 gubernatorial election

The Barrister who was in charge of publicity during the campaign was alleged to have made away with  and diverted into his personal pocket large amount of campaign funds which led to the loss of the election to the ruling party APC.

The lid on the misappropriation of the fund was blown open by a group PDP new media experts who participated in the Governorship election campaign, they narrated how the Barrister disappeared with over N3M meant for them during the campaign. We are sending warning signal to the NEC members of the party and the upcoming National Convention Committee to be careful of characters allowed to participate in the party Convention. We have also concluded plans to write the party officially on this matter.

To avoid dragging the party into another round of election defeat, proper screening of aspirants must be done to stop questionable characters like that of Bar. Usman Kabiru from plunging the party who is yet to recover from defeat hangover into another financial mess, the group said.

The Barrister is a fraudster who diverted campaign funds to himself during the Wada/Awoniyi Gubernatorial election campaign in Kogi state therefore immensely  contributed to the defeat suffered by the party in the state.
This is the same man who wants to be our party National Publicity Secretary, no way, PDP will be doing a great disservice to Nigerians if such character is allowed to run for any office at all.

The barrister has some people working with him to disburse the funds but he and some principal officers in the campaign office are alleged to have cornered a substantial part of the fund running into millions of naira which led to the defeat suffered by the party in the November 2015 gubernatorial election.

As the race to the 2019 Senatorial seat comes closer, the aspiration of Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi (OBA) has continued to receive unusual and great support from every spectrum of the senatorial district.

He was received as a guest by the Forum of former Speakers of Kogi State House of Assembly under the People's Democratic Party (PDP) at Lokoja the state capital. While welcoming Omoluabi, former Speaker of Kogi state House of Assembly, Hon. Angulu appreciated Omoluabi for being patriotic enough to go to Court for the restoration of the illegally suppressed state constituencies in Kogi west. "If you can be ingenious and patriotic enough to fight for our rights in your individual capacity, then I don't doubt your ability to represent Kogi West in the Senate" Hon Angulu said.

KOGI STATE: The Rice Donation, Sympathy or mockery?

First and foremost, I sympathise with those that have lost their jobs during the staff verification exercise and those believed to have lost their lives for lack of money to administer their health challenges and so on.

However, my worries about  Kogi state now is the rate at which we engage too much on letting the world see how far things are worse than seeking for solution to our problem.

I should be number one person to be happy if Governor Yahaya Bello fails in his administration because, I believe he stole my principal's mandate BUT I will be the last person to be happy that the outside world is now laughing at my state.

Even if every Nigerian should donate bags of Rice to us, it wouldn't solve our problem. When the Rice finishes what follows? Will the Senate continue to donate rice on monthly basis? Isn't this a mockery of our golden self?

I think we need to think outside the Box.

The administration of Alhaji Yahaya Bello has not met her promises and the way forward is to put pressure on him to explain to us what exactly is the problem in the Treasury and pay salaries to workers.

Otherwise it is becoming saddening that everybody now happy to be seen by the world as a poor person because he or she is a Kogite.

As I write, as once a state appointee, I still have outstanding arrears owed by the state government in millions not hundreds but I will not allowed to be seen by outside world as a poor fellow because I am from Kogi state. When I know, there's nothing I will achieve than to be laughed at.

On the side of the Governor's Media, reporting has not being consisted on figures. When we hear two months salary today, tomorrow it is eight, twelve, thirteen and more by the same administration ..this make caricature of the whole thing and every intelligent person will know that there is an internal problems within the cabinet that they are chewing.

Let the Governor tell us why he told the world that he owes only two month. Could he have released all the expected monies and some sat on it? Why are his Aides fighting him on figures? Something must be wrong somewhere....

Let's redirect our struggle. If we need outside support, let's be objective either to demand for State of Emergency that will remove the Governor than causing more injury to the image of our dear state.

Whatever it is, I will not choose the side of allowing the world to laugh at my state.

Thank you

Kogi state workers are already internally displaced-NLC President

President of Nigeria Labour Congress, Ayuba Wabba, on Tuesday in Abuja appealed to Nigerians to rally round Kogi State workers by donating relief materials to them.
Wabba, who was answering questions from newsmen on the Kogi worker who committed suicide on Friday, said this was necessary in order to avert another act of suicide.
Mr Edward Soje had taken his life after 11 months without being paid his monthly salaries.
“With the suicide mission embarked upon by the state worker, it shows that Kogi state workers are already internally displaced.
“This unfortunate suicide mission by the Kogi worker is an issue that should worry all Nigerians, as non-payment of salaries is becoming a reality among workers in the state,’’ Wabba said.

The NLC president however pointed out that non-payment of salaries had assumed a dangerous dimension in the country by leading to workers committing suicide, and should be tackled headlong.
He said the labour union would also take its case to the National Assembly.

Acceptance Speech of Barr. Femi Pius Mokikan, ODA National President-elect.

A New Dawn in Okun History

Being the Acceptance Speech of Barr. Femi Pius Mokikan on his emergence as the National President of Okun Development Association (ODA) today 20th Oct, 2017._

_Omo okun olori re o!_
_Omo okun olori re ooo!!_
_Omo okun olori re oooooo!!!_

*Opening Remarks:*

All honour, all glory, all praises be unto God, the creator of heaven, earth and all that is therein.  Was he not the one who said : “before I formed thee in the belly  I knew thee; and before thou camest out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations”.

He is the only one that knows the end from the beginning, therefore, he knew about today in my life even before I was born.

*Gratitude:*

I want to thank everyone that played one role or the other in making this victory possible. I do not want to run the risk of leaving anyone out and thus risk hurting a healthy relationship that evolved over the years or just recently. I therefore will not be mentioning names of individuals, too numerous individuals that I encountered on this journey.  Please bear with me and know that I cannot thank you enough. God almighty that used you to make this possible will reward you in ways that man cannot.  Thank you! Thank you!! Thank you and thanks!!!

Notwithstanding, may I request that our people from Oworo rise to their feet while the rest of us join me in celebrating them. It is the turn of our people from Yagba West, our people from Yagba East please rise, could our people from Mopamuro please rise to receive their applause, our people from Ijumu please kindly rise to receive your applause.  Ladies and gentlemen kindly join me to applaud our Kabba brothers as they  please rise. Finally, our people from Bunu please rise to receive your applause. I want to state unequivocally that am greatly overwhelmed by your show of love as demonstrated by the outcome of the election.  May God give me the grace not to disappoint you . I urge you to please pray for me.

Our immediate past president (IPP), Ambassador  Babatunde Fadumiyo, I  recall hearing you in various conversations say that you pray to be able to hand over to someone who will not only do better than you, but will do better than you 10 times!  Such a statement could not have come from a mean leader.  It can only come from a leader of leaders.   Okun people owe you and your executive members immense gratitude. On behalf of all Okun people at home and outside, I want to thank you specially, together with other members of your executive, for your selfless service to your people over the years. I pray that God will answer your prayers for your successors and take you to higher height.

*Chief Jimmy Olumudi:*

My dear chief, I personally owe you immense gratitude for your role in this election. The competitive spirit with which we went about the campaign brought the best out of us and revealed the incredible creative talents that lay dormant in many of our youths.  If you did not contest, how would I have known all the great Okun people that I got to know and developed a bond of friendship with in the course of going round all the districts in Okunland.

I wish the ODA constitution provides for two National Presidents at the same time. You are more than qualified and competent to be our President.

I also believe that Okun people owe you a measure of gratitude for what you did in the past, what you did in this election, and more importantly, what you will still do for our fatherland.

*The Journey So Far:*

What we are celebrating today is not my victory at the election.  It is victory for Okun people. It is victory for the inner yearnings of Okun men and women, old and young, who have silently prayed and hoped for a time when Okun voice will no longer be in whispers that are few and far between, but will be loud, sought after and respected on national, zonal and state matters.

The urge to contest started as an idea from three sources:

* The first was from within me.  I had the strong feeling that serving as ODA president would be God’s way of answering my prayers for him to still make me relevant in service to humanity after my retirement.

* The second source was the south West zone of ODA under the leadership of Chief Akere Owoniyi.

* And the third was Chief A K Medaiyese, an accomplished illustrious son of Bunuland who passed on about a year ago. May his soul rest in perfect peace.

The rest as they say is history.

*Marketing Myself:*

In the course of marketing myself for this office, I interacted with several Okun people, individually and in groups. One of such people was our mummy, a retired director in Lokoja, who by every definition, is a social and political activist. My meeting with her was very instructive. She framed three issues for my consideration. She asked me pointedly-

* What plan do you have and what approach would you adopt that you think will make you perform better than the outgoing executive?

* Okun people do not appreciate people’s service to them even when the individual providing the service excels in serving them.  How will you feel if you think you have done your best, which by any objective standard is good enough, and Okun people still feel you have not done anything and keep deriding you?

* How much insult can you take before you lose your head and fight back? Okun people will insult you.  Can you stand their insults?

Our discussion on each of this helped a lot in shaping my perception of the role I was preparing to take on myself.  Mummy I am grateful!

As I traveled across the length and breadth of the vast land areas that make up Okun, seeing the terrible state of our infrastructures, I was confronted with critical challenges that are uniquely Okun; and from my interaction with our people across strata, I became more convinced that indeed Okun can be better.

The easier part of the job is what we have just seen, contesting and winning the election. The real job that will deliver what our people are yearning for will however start immediately.

*The Structure of Community Development Based Organizations:*

There are basically two levels of community development associations. The first consist of those associations that are set up by individual cities, towns, villages with the primary goal of promoting development in such towns and villages. At another level is the type of organization that serves as an umbrella for the peoples of all the cities, towns and villages that consider themselves an autonomous entity on the basis of language, culture or any other factor, even though they belong to different towns and villages. ODA fits perfectly into the second category. A healthy and productive relationship must exist between the two. The new team will explore and exploit the benefits of this relationship.

*A New Spirit for ODA-Okun Rebirth:*

Because this body, Okun Development Association (ODA) is the sole socio-cultural and development Umbrella of the Okun people, with authority to speak and act on behalf of the Okun -Yoruba of our state, on matters affecting our governance, development and sustainable livelihood, our initial focus will be on how to strengthen this body, how to run it to make it earn your trust, your respect, your support and how to make each one of us feel a passionate sense of belonging. Towards this end, I will be proposing to the new executive the following for consideration and approval:

* That we  develop a creed that will be recited at the beginning of every Okun-related activity.

* A Structure of ODA executive meeting that will be on a quarterly basis with a one year meeting calendar planned ahead for each year of our tenure.

* That ODA Executive  meeting  be held on a rotational basis among all the districts that make up the Association.

* The recruitment and selection of matured, experienced and result-oriented official who would be in charge of the day to day administration of the National Secretariat.

* Development of a four year strategic plan.

* Development of a detailed work plan for the first year of our tenure.

The work ahead is enormous. Okun is blessed with the human capital that has the capability and capacity to decisively take on the challenge. It requires that all hands should be on deck so that we may collectively hand over to our children and the yet unborn an Okunland that is most admired and respected.

To make this possible, we will need the support and co-operation of everybody in who the Okun blood runs.

I therefore wish to make a passionate appeal to all our sons and daughters, particularly the high net-worth individuals and those who may not be in the high net-worth category but have the right network at the appropriate places, Okun professionals, and all Okun people to please be prepared to answer us whenever we call. Specifically, we would be calling on you very soon to bless ODA with a befitting secretariat edifice.

God will answer you and provide you with the needed resources as you  always respond to our calls.

*Concluding Remarks:*

I want to close by, again, thanking the outgoing Executive, the Electoral Planning Committee, the Conference Planning Committee, all Okun sons and daughters both at home and abroad, the security agencies. I, on behalf of the new Executive express my deep appreciation to all of you who in one way or the other made today’s event as successful as it has turned out.

Please permit me to single out all the energetic, vibrant, and resilient youths that supported both contestants, who, through a rare sophistication of technological savviness, raised the standard of the campaign to the unprecedented level it witnessed. I tried without success to imagine what the next campaign for these offices will be like. I am personally very proud of you. Thank you so very much. Now that the election is over, we must look for the best way to harness these enormous resources in our youths.  Please re-adjust your thinking caps and let us work together to make these bear desirable fruit.

I close with a line from my friend and brother which he made in his acceptance speech when he was elected the president of Akutupa Welfare Association (AWA), Lagos Branch several years back:

*ise ya omo okun olori re, ise ya*

BARR. FEMI MOKIKAN AND THE TRAJECTORY OF INDIGENOUS EMPLOYMENT IN OKUN LAND*

A True Life Story of How Femi Mokikan Became The Legend He is Today.

The year was 1968. He stood erect, gazed at the shinning sun and thought deeply: what would I want to be in the future? This is a question he had never remembered to ask himself. "I don't know. But I'm going to be great". He muted to himself as he  bent over his waist to wash the clothes in front of him. This was in preparation for a journey to Aiyetoro Gbedde where the common entrance examination for that year was to take place. As he washed, so his mind thought critically: would I be a lawyer? A Doctor? An Engineer? Or a lecturer? Maybe a lawyer! He concluded as he spread the last piece of cloth on a string of rope.

He is determined to be great, but the journey to greatness by a Bunu Boy comes with a price very few can pay.

Washing his clothes was just one of the many tasks lined up before he departed his Akutupa hometown for Aiyetoro Gbedde. The journey he was about to embark on was, for many, a journey of no return, but for young Femi Mokikan, it was a journey he had already conquered. When presented with options, Femi opted to make the journey on foot like every other of his school mates going for the entrance examination.

"Spend your money wisely!" His father warned and cautioned as Femi ladened his head with his small box of clothes, and one step at a time, he bided Akutupa farewell in search of greatness - on foot!

By noon, under the scorching sun, Femi and others were at Iluke and by the evening of that day at twilight, he alone was dragging his feet as the voyagers approached the dangerous bend where a short-cut route to Aiyegunle Gbedde begins. Both legs were heavily swollen from what our people call AGHONHIN, and Femi Mokikan could hardly move any further. It was a journey from Kiri to Gbede, driven by foot!!!
     ***************
No paddy for jungle. Everyman to himself. By this time, the strongest boys in the mix were now in Ayegunle Gbede and they poured themselves into searching for an accommodation for the traveling team.

His box on his head, his legs unevenly big and immobile,  young Femi Mokikan was exhausted beyond words. Just at the begging of the hill that will walk you to Aiyegunle Gbedde's market, Femi became totally immobile. Now living between the devil and the deep blue sea, Femi would only be saved by the undying love and care of a woman. Margaret Medupin was the most mature girl in the school. She was equally the Head Girl. She had looked back only to observe that young Femi was no longer within sight! She therefore slowed down, caught up with Femi and offered him her back! It was a succour no one in this condition would reject. Femi Mokikan would live to fight another day but for the remaining part of this journey, Femi would complete it on the back of Margaret the Head Girl. Such was the struggle in his early days.

Fortunately for the traveling team, most of whom were already exhausted by this time, there was a woman popularly known is IYA YEERO who had had some business dealings with Femi's father. Her son, BODA APOLLO, a very popular and loud man, was already a teacher in Aiyegunle Gbedde. This family demonstrated that they were indeed Good Samaritans. They not only sheltered the team, Boda Apollo went round to comb the town for IJA AJOLA (The fat of a Python), which was authoritatively prescribed as the only solution to Femi's predicament. He returned with the fat of Python and with it, he massaged Femi's legs. By the following morning, Femi's legs were back to normal and he could walk again! Like he started in Akutupa the morning before, one step after another, the journey was to continue from here - on foot as the Aiyegunle Muslim community called for morning prayers until a vehicle came to the rescue as arranged by Apollo.
This was how Femi made it to the entrance examination that saw him to Government Secondary School Okene in 1969 where the second stage of his journey to the top began.

But something happened that night at Boda Apollo's place. As his legs were healing in the deep of his sleep, Femi got up and took a decision that would change his life forever. Thinking about the rigour he faced, the dread of the bush, the near death experience all in a quest to obtain a Western Education and be great in life, Femi gazed into the sky, this time barricaded by the ceilings, and he remarked as in a covenant: when I become great in life, I will build people just so they may not experience the same travails I experienced. From here, young Femi Mokikan gained the inspiration that molded him to the Okun legend he has become today.

In the decades that followed, as Femi Mokikan started to work with multinational corporations, he moved along with him an army of Okun sons and daughters, fixing them in various positions in the job market. Yet in his humble nature, Mokikan never believes he has helped anyone. He ascribes all help to God.

Rather than write an abstract, we have taken a step further to interview a few of such Okun people, cutting across all the districts in Okunland who had benefited from Mokikan's career empowerment as a testimonial to his legendary status in Okun Land. We did not bother to survey other parts of Kogi state, or even other parts of Nigeria even though they exist in large numbers. Such would not be relevant for our purpose. Have a great day listening to Okun people speak:

*IJUMU*
Barr. Femi Mokikan is an astute Administrator and a leader per excellence. His quality of people management is second to none.
*Olusegun Tanimola*

Barr. Femi Mokikan is a father to all irrespective of tribe or ethnicity. He is a change initiator, implementer and sustainer.
*Toluyemi Eyitayo Gbenga*

Barr. Femi Mokikan is not your normal Okun man. He is not in the crop of Okun people you greet in Okun language and they will respond in English language. He is one in a million. Mokikan practically turned 7up to an Okun venture as he populated everywhere with Okun people across all regions. If we have 20 Mokikans in Okun land, unemployment would have vanished totally. Personally, Mokikan is a father figure to me.
*Olutayo Titilayo*

Barr. Femi Mokikan is a Kogi man to the core. He believes strongly in the development of his immediate environment and in particular, his people. A gentleman, an erudite scholar and a role model to the youths. He is a trusted ally and most importantly, a bridge builder of our time. I have no doubt that he is the man who can galvanize the various ethnic groups within Okun, at home and in the Diaspora.
*Adekunle Olusuyi*

Barr. Femi Mokikan is a genius and a role model. He is the kind individual I think we need at this time in Okun land that will help drive and actualize our agenda towards moving Okun land to a new socioeconomic phase we all desire. He is a selfless leader who strongly believes in youth development.

I worked closely and directly under his watch during my 7 years sojourn in 7up Bottling Company.
I strongly recommend him for the ODA job without any reservation.
*Timothy Adekunle*

*BUNU*

Barr. Femi Mokikan was my first boss over two decades ago and fresh from university. This man taught me the value of courage, integrity and sincerity early in my career. He leads with wisdom, sense of responsibility, collaboration and direction. These virtues I picked from him helped me as an HR professional as I traverse across the world. His contributions in shaping the Human Resources profession in Nigeria at the highest levels of advocacy cannot be overemphasized. He is a serious minded, sincere and pragmatic individual. Okun nation to me is the most important and the future of Nigeria and I can only imagine someone with the right experience, humility and pedigree as Barr. Femi Mokikan to lead Okun Nation.
*Ola Ehinmoro* (Human Resources and Corporate Affairs Director, Suntory Beverage and Food Nigeria).

*Me*: Whatever you have to tell us about Femi Mokikan, kindly cram it into one sentence.

*Voice*: I don't think I can summarize Femi Mokikan's roles in my life in one sentence. Reason is: he is responsible for my first job, second job, third job and even my private business. He is the Chairman. His name has been opening doors for me - just putting him on my profile alone! So you can understand why I can't tell my Mokikan story in one sentence!!

Barr. Femi Mokikan is actually the key God has been using to unlock my Destiny. Why?
In 1999, his name as a referee on my CV gave me my first job as Sales Operation Officer in Nigeria Ropes Plc. In 2002, I saw a job advert in Guardian Newspaper. I called him and he told me to submit my CV to the Head of HR with his name on the envelope. I was therefore employed by Guinness Nigeria Plc. I left as Area Sales Manager. In 2008, he voluntarily agreed to serve as the Board Chairman of a company I founded. With his name on our website, I got invites and connections that made me to be part of young entrepreneurs selected to represent Nigeria in 2010 London World Academy of young Businessmen. In 2013 when the need to go back to paid employment arose, his name again opened the door for me to be employed as Marketing Manager in 7up Bottling Company Plc. This is my story.
*Pastor Timi-Zacchaeus*

Barr. Mokikan is a fantastic gentleman, a purposeful Administrator per excellence, a rare and distinguished specie of a true leader and friend, a living hero with the mission to save his generation from waste and poverty.
*Philips Bolaji*

Barr. Femi Mokikan is a man that contributed positively to my life.
One: he gave me a job.
Two: he paid for the surgical operation of my last born worth millions of naira.
Three: he made me whatever I am today.
*Owonipa Olowosaiye*

My name is Barikin Olukayode. I joined 7up Bottling Company Plc without interview with the help of the man Femi Mokikan. I was in Kiri for new yam festival when he sent for me. He is a hero.
*Barikin Olukayode*

I, Femi Samuel, recommend Barr. Femi Mokikan for ODA top job because this is a man who desires progress for his people. Carry go.
*Femi Samuel*

Barrister Femi Mokikan has empowered youths like me today in becoming a better person both in private and public life. As a young Man looking for job some Five years ago, he gave me the opportunity of joining 7up bottling company as a graduate trainee and I can proudly say that today within the same company I am now a Manager.
I am a testimony of such opportunities he has given to youths to empower ourselves and also become great leaders and individuals.
*Henry Eseyin*

I met Barrister Mokikan during my Graduate Trainee days in SBC. Sir, you have been a great boss, mentor, teacher and guide. Your support, encouragement and advice have helped shaped my professional career. Thanks for being the best Boss ever. *Tade Adegboro*

Barr Femi Mokikan is my friend, my boss, my mentor, confidant, my role model, and someone God has used for me.
I can't say enough of this man but I will limit my small write-up to Seven-up Bottling Company plc with a story.
As Barr. Mokikan became head of human resources department, he was to participate in the restructuring of the company.
He came to his place of birth and invited some teachers to take opportunity in private sector. Since then he flooded the company with people from Okun and put them into different departments. This annoyed more sociable staff from  Lagos and ogun states .They petition the chairman and head of the company. He was invited and confronted with the petition.
He didn't deny it. He reminded the chairman that he has a duty to restructure the company. And that he should be allowed to use those he trust. The chairman agreed with him and that was what pave way for people like us to have a career in Seven-up  Bottling Company.
He is bold and very intelligent and experience in management generally and he is obsessed with Okun Agenda. After having opportunity, before developing property in Lagos,  he had done it in his native town and Kabba.
He has touched the lives of those that come across him in one way or another..
A very pleasant person.

THINK A NEW OKUN NATION THINK ACG OLUJIMMY OLUMUDI

THERE SHOULD'NT BE COMPETITION IN ODA!
LET'S COLLECTIVELY GIVE OKUNLAND A FACELIFT.

As OKUN DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION (ODA) the umbrella mother union of all the Yoruba race in kogi State holds its convention on October 20, 2017, in Kabba ,Kogi State. The coast is getting clearer as political calculations, electioneering, alignments, realignments, endorsements etc reach fever pitch.

The determination of the ODA to ensure a hitch and crisis-free convention has led the union to leave all positions as open as possible even when zoning has been adopted as a guide. With this development, a lot of aspirants are beginning to show greater interest in serving as Executive's in years to come. This is a welcome development!

However, while leaving its door open for almost all and sundry to contest at the convention, the association must ensure that only those who have shown unflinching loyalty, uncommon commitment and well documented sacrifice are voted for especially for the offices of the President these would serve as the face and image of the Association. Such face and image are not only good for the association ; they are very useful to the extent that they help to shape the narratives and perceptions the people have of ODA and Okun nation.

The fact that the face and image of every organization is very important to its success cannot be overemphasized. This is why even blue chip corporate organizations compete vigorously among themselves to have the faces of popular entertainers grace their brands as they build their images around such people. It is believed that every organization including the ODA is as good as its image maker.

This is where the candidacy of Mr. (ACG) Jimmy Olunmudi Rtd perfectly fits the bill. He is one man who can perfectly mould public opinions, shape perceptions and invent narratives as he wills. It is not a matter of what or how he can do it, the fact is that he has always done it and has continued to do it.

PA Jimmy Olunmudi has not only been consistent in doing this, he has done it at great expense to his life, personal comfort and resources. His ability to manage people and resources is extra-ordinary. This he has proven as in several facet of Civil Service to these great Country Nigeria, He is the first Man in Kogi State to rise to the position of Assistance Comptroller General in the Nigerian Custom. These Owe Prince during his service year has used his influence and position to offer job opportunities to several Okun extract among several other assistance. All these he has taken upon himself to salvage our people from penury and the marginalization we are getting from our state.

In 1979 as a young officer to the Nigerian Custom he ensure eight(8) appointment for Okun indigene into the custom  and also responsible for more than half of the several slot given to okun sons and daughters from the federal government in different agencies in the then Kwara state. Equally in 1990 these indefatigable Okun patriot facilitated the appointment of many  okun citizen into the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) where a couple of them has risen to the position of Director in these Sector.

His well robust relationship with who is who in these nation ranging from political Juggernaut to Successful Business tycoon whom the flow and direction of the socio economic welfare of these country is practically on their shoulder is enough to write home about still uncompromising, honest, hard working and fearless at a time when many top public officers enriched their pockets only and some withdrawing into their cocoons for fear of being harassed, intimidated or persecuted, PA Jimmy's voice has only grown louder and steadfast not aligning with looters in the ruling government and no penchant for tyranny and economic olodoism. His consistency in doing this while also promoting all that concerns his community and the entire okun race, he is an all times legendary. If he could do these without being the President  of the union ODA, one can only wonder what he would achieve for the association when he becomes one.

It is therefore worrisome that a majority of all others who have rushed to pick nomination form have little or no record in ODA to show of how they have helped to hold the union together in their time of Needs and the ravaging hunger in our land.

For almost all the affairs concerning ODA, PA Jimmy  has had his team on ground in almost every event that unfold  How he is always able to mobilize such number of men and women without resources from different community is always amazing, and the results always show.
His sojourn as the Cordinator of Zone A of the Nigerian custom is height of it were Our inestimable Father and Uncle avail several Okun people the opportunity to own a vehicle during their Auction. On retirement from public service his love for okun land made him to settle in Kabba were he established several business worth millions of Naira, he never considered the cities were profit can be maximise as usual many of our sons have their business outside the shores of okun map, All these has put smile on our faces as hundreds of our people are gainfully employed. . What a great leader and true son of the Soil we have in PA Jimmy Olunmudi.

Delegates to the convention will do well to ensure that those who lost their voices before now should not be made champions of a fight they ran away from. Doing this would not only be the height of injustice but would also expose the ODA to a set of lily-livered men who may surrender the Association or sell it to the ruling party or government out of fear arising from intimidation and harassment.

The position of the association now does not warrant the election of those who are only eyeing the perks and privileges of office including the comfort of well-padded swivel armchairs; it calls for men and women imbued with nobility, built with steel and who thunder with meaning; men and women who are not moved by what the association can offer them but continue to ingenuously devise ways and means they can offer themselves selflessly and unconditionally to the Union

In as much as everyone has an inalienable right to contest for whatever position they wish to contest for, let those that would be elected be those who have been tested and trusted. Among the contestants for the office of National President , PA Jimmy has been tested. Olunmudi  is trusted. He should be delivered at the convention; not only for ODA’s sake but also in the interest of OKUN LAND as we all need a virile and unrelenting Posture to save Okun race from her worsening hemorrhage. He who the cap fits, let them wear it. This cap perfectly fits PA (ACG) JIMMY OLUNMUDI Rtd !

ODA Election: OYC demands level playing ground for aspirants.

The Okun Youth Council(OYC) has call for a level playing ground for all aspirants in the coming Okun Development Association(ODA) elections slated for 20th Oct, 2017.

Alamoh Kehinde Samuel(Aks) who spoke on behalf of the council commend the leadership of ODA for the forth coming election , the unanimous decision taken by the wise men leading ODA is worthy of our commendation and as a youth council we are solidly behind this decision, this demonstrate internal democracy and unity.

The council said there must be a level playing ground where the aspirants will test their popularity, democracy is not monarch, we don't want any crown prince, let the delegates decide who leads them, therefore we are solidly behind a transparent election that will provide a level playing grounds for all the aspirants, that is where we stand, let the popular candidate emerges and we will be sure of good leadership, peace, internal democracy within our association and purposeful representation.

We therefore also call on individual Okun youth not to engage in verbal attacks against one another as the over all development and progress of Okun land is more paramount than any individual aspiration.

Recalled that Barr. Femi Mokikan and ACG Jimmy Olumudi are the two major aspirants jostling for the exalted office of the National President of ODA.

The Man in Olumudi is a representation of a progressive Okun Nation- Hajiya Rakiya Alfa

Hajiya London
Presidential aspirant, who Much has been said and will still be saying about him ,much has been written and many people will still be writing for this Man of unique destiny. My Morals, my conscious will never let me be free if I do not write my own little Epistle on the personality and the character of this great Man of our time.

The qualitative leadership acumen and the sense of stewardship which he possesses has been established, at least, at the highest level.  He goes history lane as a disciplined public officer with regard for his people. He is an epitome of discipline, hard work and equity and fairness. His political philosophy has no regard for sentiments. His affinity with both the high and mighty and the downtrodden is second to none. He leaves no stone unturned in grassroots developments. Yes this is the Man of the moment that we can’t afford to miss in the corridors of *OKUN DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION* helms of affairs.

No doubt, he ranks at the fore of a sparse assemblage of leaders in present day OkunLand. His monumental achievements continue to ring louder even without making noise. In real sense, it is easy to conclude that some leaders are naturally characterized by ideas, vision and the will to set a pace and to have their name boldly written on the sand of time. For once let's allow a man who has prepared himself and seriously desires to lead us to become president.

*ACG JIMMY OLUMUDI* knowledgeable,  good team player, have a nationalist outlook. He is the man to watch in 2017 *OKUN DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION* Election and I would be most glad to have him as our president. The words of a leader are the marbles wisdom of life and such at this point I suggest to all OKUN leaders that *JIMMY OLUMUDI* should be our prayer point, should be a yearning burning desire to be our leader in this forthcoming ODA election.

*Support ACG. JIMMY OLUMUDI FOR OKUN DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION PRESIDENT*

Kogi Police brutality: Daily Post Editor Narrates ordeal.

By Michael Abimboye

Security personnel attached to Kogi state government house went on rampage on Wednesday afternoon and beat up Daily Post deputy editor, Wale Odunsi.

According to the journalist, a mobile police personnel, Iliya Ali, attached to the Kogi Government House in Kogi threatened to shoot him. Odunsi said it was divine intervention that saved him from being killed.

Narrating his ordeal, Odunsi had travelled to the state to honour an invitation for the rescheduled Kogi State Social Media Summit.

The programme was slated for Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th October 2017.

Those invited were also scheduled to meet Governor Yahaya Bello at the Banquet Hall of the Government House.

He said: “I left the hotel I was some minutes before 11am. Before that, I called special assistant to the Governor on New Media, Joel Odaudu Minister, that I was on my way to the Govt. House”.

“I got there and walked towards the gate. As I approached the gate directly opposite the entrance of the governor’s wife office entrance, one of the protocol officials wearing White native charged towards me.

“In an unruly manner, he queried why I was trying to barge into the premises. So I asked ‘Oga, you didn’t have to shout at me like that. I was only looking for who to ask for direction’.

“Apparently infuriated by my guts, he dragged and pushed me away. Within seconds, a mobile policeman got up and slapped me. He used abusive words and warned me to move away. But I kept asking what I did to warrant the treatment.

“At this point, the protocol officer and two mobile policemen were taking turns to hit me on the chest while pushing me backwards; one slapped me the second time.

“I calmly walked some meters away and told and called Joel, the governor’s aide. As soon as he came, the security officials cornered him and were trying to change the story.

“I hurriedly strolled to where they were and insisted to know why I was assaulted. By this time, one of the policemen I believe is superior and another man wearing a blue safari suit and white T-shirt warned me to leave the area of face the consequences.

“The policeman’s eyes were red as if thirsty for blood. He kept screaming that he will punish with me mercilessly. So I called his name out, Iliya Ali: I told him to his face that I will report the incident to appropriate authority.

“Once he heard his name, he reached for his holster and attempted to bring out his gun. He said I have eyes to see his name and mouth to mention his name so he will shut me up “now now”, affirming his readiness to open fire.

He added: ‘I will show you if na your mama, your papa or your any person you wan report me to give me name. I will deal with you anytime, anywhere I see you around this place’.

“He also asked the Governor’s aide to leave the scene so he can deal with me. All the while, he was trying to bring out his gun while the governor’s aide was asking him calm down.

“I sensed he might make real his threat so I took transport and left the scene because only a fool will continue to argue with a man with a firearm. I spoke to the Force spokesman, Jimoh Moshood, who sent Kogi CP’s number. I tried to reach him but couldn’t but sent sms. No response from him as I speak.

“I have left the state before my time is cut short. Kogi Police Command will hear from DAILY POST lawyers. Police brutality in Nigeria must be checked”.

In August, Segun Salami, a Channels Television reporter, landed in the hospital, after an assault by security operatives attached to the government house.

As of the time this report was filed, spokesmen of the governor could not be reached for comment.
