COVID-19: A Sedulous Philanthropist, Vice Admiral Dr. J Ajayi (RTD)CON Provides Relief for Kabba Community Children.

It is no longer a news that majority lives on the edge of economic survival. And we are currently in the heat of that economic down time. It will take only small minority to survive the hunger unleashed by this pandemic.

Barely two weeks now, a sedulous Altrist who has been inexorable in lifting people from a painful horizon to a hopeful purview distributed palliatives to the aged indigenes of Kabba Community has come again to direct his helping compass to the children of the same community.

This is an unusual acts that could only be traced to a man like him.

Vice Admiral Dr J. Ajayi(RTD)CON is neither a politician nor is he navigating his intention to becoming one. But he has just choosing the mandate of lifting others and putting hopeful smiles on the faces of the down trodden without sentiment.

The cartoons of indomie was distributed through churches, mosque, palaces and all the nooks where children can be easily assessed.

Mr Ojo Livingproof who was part of the people that received the relief materials for the children described Vice Admiral Ajayi as a timely Angel who stirred the healing river for the man who has stayed at the bank of the river for 38years helpless. He said, the donor's intervention is always timely. And prayed that his children will never be stranded in life. And that they will always be on time in destiny.

Engineer Elefin who is Vice Admiral Ajayi's close ally of many years have this to say about him. "Vice Admiral Ajayi is a man whose helping hands has not weakened since I knew him. He has been helping with a sincerity of heart". He concluded his statement by saying, " My friend will have a wonderful place to rest in eternity when his time comes".

Vice Admiral Ajayi who was ably represented by Hon. Jagun Olakunle also said in his delivery message that his cord of connection to Admiral is his sincerity to helping people. He affirmed that aside the distribution of relief materials in this Covid-19 period. Vice Admiral and Mrs J.M Ajayi Education Foundation has been giving scholarship to students of higher academic learning for over 10 years now. And  hundreds of people have benefitted and gotten jobs through the same Foundation.

In conclusion, a certain man said, Vice Admiral Ajayi has written his name on a mental sheet of time and shall be remembered for good as long as the cord of memory lengthens.

It was a joyous day for the children as they could feel the love of a father in Vice Admiral Dr. J. Ajayi(RTD)CON. They were all lighted up with enthusiasm and showering heartfelt prayers on him.

Ibrahim Oyewale in Lokoja

Prominent indigenes of Okunland in Kogi West Senatorial District have launched an initiative aimed at providing relief for inhabitants of the area from the ravages of the coronavirus pandemic.

Known as the Okun People Covid-19 Relief Response Initiative, the move is meant to tackle the social and health challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic to the Yoruba speaking people of the state.

Among the prominent Okun (Yoruba) people named in the initiative’s Elders Advisory Council are the former military governor of the old Oyo State and Minister of Police Affairs, Maj-Gen. David Jemibewon (rtd.); former Minister of Industries and Chairman, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Chief Kola Jamodu; former Minister of Health, Prof. Eyitayo Lambo; former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Bayo Ojo (SAN); and one-time Acting Governor of Kogi State, Chief Clarence Olafemi.

A press release issued yesterday by a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Duro Meseko, on behalf of the Media Committee, also announced the setting up of a 21-member steering committee as well as various sub-committees including contact/network, fundraising, and materials collection, procurement, media, relief materials distribution and funds/materials audit committees, among others.

Mathew Kolawole; National President of Okun Development Association (ODA), Mr. Femi Mokikan, among others as members while Public Policy Analyst, Dr. Ronke Bello, will serve as the Secretary of the committee and head of the secretariat.

The steering committee is expected to drive the process for raising funds to buy drugs and essential commodities to be distributed to the people of the area as a way of complementing the efforts of the federal and Kogi State governments to contain the spread of the dreaded virus in the state and the country as a whole, as well as cushion the effects of the stay-at-home order, subsisting in the state.

Eminent Okun personalities drawn from all walks of life and listed in the various sub-committees include business moguls Chief Jide Omokore, Chief Tunde Ayeni, Chief Funsho Owoyemi and Chief Sam Owa; former Director, Department of Petroleum Resources, Mr. Osten Olorunsola; Director-General, Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), Mr. Babatunde Irukera; founder, Phase 3 Telecoms, Mr. Stanley Jegede; Managing Director, THISDAY Newspapers, Mr. Eniola Bello; former Managing Director, Trust Newspapers, Mr. Isiaq Ajibola; and Managing Director, Cable News, Mr. Simon Kolawole.

Convid-19: Kogi Gets Palliatives from FG.

GOVERNOR YAHAYA BELLO LAUDS PRESIDENT BUHARI ON PALLIATIVES' DELIVERY

Lokoja, April 24, 2020

The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has commended President Muhammadu Buhari, for the delivery of palliative items sent to people of Kogi State by the Federal Government to cushion the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic.

A delegation from the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development (FMHADMSD) delivered three truck loads of rice and one truck load of vegetable oil to the state government as palliatives.

Receiving the materials in Lokoja on behalf of the Governor, Bello who was represented by his Deputy, Edward Onoja appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari, for his passion especially towards the downtrodden in such a time where the world was facing such crisis.

Bello thanked the Federal Minstry of Humanitarian Affairs for finding the state worthy to be recipient of such intervention.

The governor assured the president and the ministry that the items would reach those they were meant for.

According to the Governor, Kogi State had an existing database which has been helpful in time past to disburse similar interventions.

He assured that the database effectively covers the grassroots and would be valid to reach those who would need it more.

The Governor noted that though, the state has not recorded any COVID-19 case, safety measures should be adhered to by citizens even as prayers were being made in this month of Ramadan for God’s protection and interventions.

Earlier, the delegation which was led by the Minister of FMHADMSD represented by the Head of Special Duties, Mrs. Ojochenemi Nadia Mohammed, mentioned that in the wake of the pandemic, President Muhammadu Buhari ordered that food palliatives should be distributed to targeted less privilege across the country

She pointed out that the situation caused by the pandemic particularly for those who were economically vulnerable was not good enough and hence the need for FG to take such step.

The Minister pointed out that the palliative was expected to be judiciously shared to those who needed them the most to serve as a succor.

In a vote of thanks, the Governor’s Chief of Staff, Pharm Jamiu Abdulkareem, described the intervention as timely, adding that it would go a long way to help people of the state during this trying period.

While he thanked the Federal Government for such kind gesture, he expressed hope that the state would further receive more interventions

Eseyin charges Muslim community to focus on spiritual rejuvenation, kindness and resilience on Ramadan and beyond

As another new moon heralds the start of the holy month of Ramadan, The organized national body for former and serving public servants in Nigeria (POHAN®) has extend their best wishes to Muslims across Nigeria and around the world.
In a statement released in Abuja, the nation’s capital, the National President of POHAN, Bashorun MD Eseyin described this month as an opportunity to focus on reflection and spiritual growth, forgiveness, patience and resilience, compassion for those less fortunate, and unity across communities. He said each lesson is profound on its own, and taken together forms a harmonious whole.
Eseyin noted that this year Ramadan is coming at a very difficult period for Nigeria and the world at large but insisted that the challenging period makes it the best season to reflect upon and focus on spiritual rejuvenation, kindness and resilience, compassion for those less fortunate and harmony across diverse communities.
As Muslim celebrate the holy month, we are reminded that we are one big family.  We stand firmly with Muslim communities in rejection of the voices that seek to divide us or limit our religious freedoms or civil rights. We stand committed to safeguarding the civil rights of all no matter their religion or appearance. We stand in celebration of our common humanity and dedication to peace and justice for all.

Ramadan serves as a reminder to people of all faiths and backgrounds of the importance of shared compassion, respect, and support for one another. Through the daily act of breaking fast and sharing a meal, Ramadan revitalizes community bonds and emphasizes community service. Sadly this year can’t be the same due the unfortunate pandemic, but, in this spirit, we can reflect upon our mutual responsibilities for one another, regardless of faith, and strive to be our best selves.

Eseyin pray that Allah (SWT) heal our land, blesses our families and communities with peace, tranquility, strong faith, and healthy and active lives. May He give us the best of this world and the Hereafter. Ameen

BREAKING: Ganduje sacks commissioner for rejoicing over Abba Kyari’s death

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has sacked the state commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Muazu Magaji, for rejoicing over the death of the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Recall that DAILY NIGERIAN had reported how the commissioner took to his Facebook page to express his happiness over the death of the deceased chief of staff.

A statement signed by the commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba said the commissioner was removed following his unguarded utterances against the person of the late Abba Kyari.

According to him, as a public servant, the commissioner ought to have respected the profanity of the office by refraining from any act capable of rendering the office to disrepute.

“The action of a public servant, personal or otherwise reflects back on the government and therefore, the Ganduje administration would not tolerate people in official capacities engaging in personal vendetta or otherwise,” the statement added.

According to the statement, late Abba Kyari had led a life worthy of emulation by serving his country to the best of his ability

The Tragedy of the Abba Kyari Surrogate Presidency

By Farooq A. Kperogi, Ph.D.

Premium Times’ February 17 unmasking of National Security Adviser Babagana Monguno’s secret memo, which revealed that Abba Kyari, Buhari’s Chief of Staff, exercises presidential powers on Buhari’s behalf, is only the official confirmation of what I have written in many columns and social media updates in the past two years.

The truth is that Buhari has no cognitive, emotional, physical, not to mention intellectual, capacity to be president. And, since nature abhors a vacuum, Abba Kyari has filled the void that Buhari’s emptiness has created.

Sometime in the midpoint of last year, a northern retired general told me Abba Kyari said in private that people who vilify him don’t realize that without him Nigeria would be rudderless and descend into chaos.

He is probably right. When a man who fancies himself as “president” is so wracked by dementia and cognitive decline that he can’t hold a meeting for more than 10 minutes, has lost the ability to follow conversations in a meeting, and has zero short-term memory, someone needs to act on his behalf.

That Buhari is almost wholly emotionally and intellectually dependent on Abba Kyari is no secret in Aso Villa, but it came out in the open when Buhari himself publicly told his newly appointed ministers that Abba Kyari is the only way to him. In any case, most of the ministers were appointed by Abba Kyari.

Kyari also made—and continues to make— some of the most consequential appointments of the last five years. For instance, he singlehandedly appointed INEC chairman Mahmood Yakubu, DG of DSS Yusuf Magaji Bichi, and CJN Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad, among others too numerous to mention.

That was why Kyari could summon INEC chairman Yakubu to the Presidential Villa on October 26, 2018 to instruct him on how to conduct the forthcoming elections. As I wrote in my January 5, 2019 column titled, “INEC’s Troubling Missteps Amid Aso Rock’s Desperation,” what happened on October 26, 2018 had no precedent.

“The Chief of Staff to the President is not a constitutionally recognized position,” I wrote. “He has no legal powers to summon the INEC boss for a meeting.” Of course, I knew that Yakubu was beholden to Kyari because he owes his position to him.

Kyari rode to his current cushy surrogate presidency through Mamman Daura, Buhari’s nephew, who has been Buhari’s link to the northern political mafia and to transnational financial transactions since 1983.

In researching the genealogy and rhetorical techniques of Nigerian crime syndicates for a book I am working on, I came across an insightful 2016 book by Professor Stephen Ellis titled “This Present Darkness: A History of Nigerian Organized Crime,” which spells out the link between Mamman Daura and Buhari.

On page 132 of the book, which was published by Oxford University Press, Ellis writes: “The Kaduna Mafia is said to have ‘dictated to President Shehu Shagari how Nigeria should be managed’ during his tenure from 1979 to 1983….Buhari’s main connection to this group was through his nephew (although slightly older), Mamman Daura.

“Mamman Daura became a director of Bank of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI), which set up shop in Nigeria in 1979 and became the favorite bank of the ruling group, performing all manner of illegal transactions on behalf of its elite clients.” Daura became director of the defunct Karachi- and London-based BCCI through his father-in-law, Alhaji Ibrahim Dasuki, who had controlling shares in the bank’s Nigerian branch.

Note that, according Peter Truell and Larry Gurwin in their 1992 book titled “False Profits: The Inside Story of BCCI, The World's Most Corrupt Financial Empire,” BCCI was a sensationally fraudulent bank that engaged in high-profile  transnational money laundering, including for dictators such as Saddam Hussein, Manuel Noriega, and Samuel Doe.

The Washington Monthly magazine, in a September 4, 2004 investigation titled “Follow the Money: How John Kerry busted the terrorists' favorite bank,” also found that BCCI laundered money for such criminal corporations as the Medellin Cartel and Abu Nidal and for terrorist kingpins like Osama bin Laden. In fact, Washington Monthly quoted a senior U.S. investigator to have said, "BCCI was the mother and father of terrorist financing operations."

Of course, there’s no evidence that the Nigerian branch of BCCI was involved in terrorist financing, but the same Mamman Daura who served as the conduit between Buhari, the Kaduna Mafia, and BCCI in the 1980s also introduced Abba Kyari to Buhari much later. Mamman Daura, in addition, facilitated Abba Kyari’s employment at the defunct African International Bank, an offshoot of BCCI, which was forcefully liquidated in 1991.

In other words, Abba Kyari’s connection to Buhari via Mamman Daura possibly follows the money. Relationships nurtured by the kind of money that binds Daura, Kyari, and Buhari are hard to dissolve. It’s particularly difficult when the man who is supposed to be “president” has, due to dementia, lost all sentience and is dependent on a younger, more educated, if unethical and rapacious, Kyari for directions on what remains of Nigeria’s pretense to governance.

In his surrogate presidency, Kyari is redefining the limits of audacious impunity and primitive acquisitiveness. For instance, in an unprecedented move in July 2016, he appointed himself a member of the NNPC Board and got insentient Buhari to sign off on it!

When Air Vice Marshall Mukhtar Muhammed, Buhari’s close friend who died on October 1, 2017, read about Kyari’s appointment to the NNPC Board, he was concerned because there was no precedent for it. So he called Buhari to let him know that the optics of the appointment were bad, but he was shocked when Buhari told him it wasn’t true that he had appointed his Chief of Staff as a member of the NNPC Board, even though he actually signed off on the appointment.

It turned out that Buhari didn’t know what he signed off on. Someone close to the late AVM Mukhtar Mohammed told me this story a few months after it happened. That was the moment I began to suspect that Buhari was held hostage by dementia. No one knows this more than Abba Kyari, who is taking advantage of it to the maximum.

Sahara Reporters reported on September 20, 2016 that “Buhari [was] presented with evidence his Chief of Staff took [a] N500m [bribe] to help MTN reduce fine.” About three months after this exposé, MTN fired its top staffers who facilitated the bribe in order “to avoid scrutiny by the United States government over bribes offered to Abba Kyari, Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari,” according to Sahara Reporters’ December 23, 2016 story titled, “MTN Fires Amina Oyagbola Over Bribery To Buhari’s Chief Of Staff Abba Kyari.”

Buhari’s mental and cognitive decline, which has severely affected his short-term memory, ensured that the people who reported Abba Kyari to Buhari actually only reported Abba Kyari to himself.

When a prominent Southwest politician sponsored protests importuning Buhari to not reappoint Abba Kyari as his Chief of Staff, I laughed boisterously. It was akin to asking Abba Kyari to not reappoint himself.

Abba Kyari is now literally a law unto himself. People lose their positions in government only when they fall out of his good graces. Buhari is now totally inconsequential. All the people who matter in this government know Buhari is merely a nominal head with no capacity to exercise actual power.

Power resides with Abba Kyari who is now transmogrifying into a Frankenstein monster that is about to devour even Mamman Daura, its creator.

The only way out of the tragedy of the current surrogate presidency is to impeach and remove Buhari on account of his incapacitation and treasonable abdication of responsibility to an unelected surrogate.

But that will never happen. Not with the current docile and malleable National Assembly that has fittingly been dubbed the “Rubber-Stamp National Assembly.” Nigeria is stuck!

Rape Allegation: Natasha Akpoti Retract Claims, apologizes to Kogi Dep Chief Of Staff.

Retraction

Yesterday I made two Facebook posts regarding an allegation against the Kogi state’s Deputy Chief of Staff.

The first was based upon a cry for help by the alleged victim.

And the second post was upon the call for withdrawal of the allegation by the said alleged victim out of fear generated from the comments attracted by the first post.

Hence, after several reactions particularly by my friends and teammates, I have decided :

To the Deputy Chief of Staff

I Retract the posts with utmost expression of regret for publicizing the allegation without verification.

To the alleged victim

I don’t know who you are but I apologize for putting your life in danger and further pain.

If the rape allegations are true, I’ll advice you to contact the police and NGOs bellow.

Please stay strong and don’t let people’s doubts make you question your truth.

However, if the allegations are false, God help you.

To the general public;

True or false, the following were deduced from the comments on the post :

That if the rape actually occurred;

- She was at fault
- She made herself available for rape
- She was probably a prostitute hanging around government officials
- She was lying for attention
- She was being sponsored
- She enjoyed being raped ... after all she was raped before.
- She is jobless
- She had no physical proof
- She should have gone to the police

The victims are sadly mostly at fault.

Factually so it is that rape remains one of the most difficult crimes to prove especially in countries with weak prosecution systems.

97% of actual rapists walk free.

1 in 6 women have been raped or been attempted to.

Most likely our wives, daughters or sisters are victims but chose to die with the secret than speak up and be further condemned by us.

Henceforth, if you happen to be a victim of rape, rather than contact me; please contact the nearest police station or any of the NGOs listed below and they shall accompany you to the police station:

Easter: Let’s imbibe Christ’s sacrificial spirit to overcome COVID-19 – Buhari

and excitement that come with such festivities as the Easter, reminding all that the currently imposed way of life is humanity’s surest way of subduing the scourge.
He, however, called on all, especially Christians, to revive their faith and hope, coupled with prayers and other personal efforts, noting that without these, overcoming the current circumstances might be unreachable.
“I rejoice with our Christian brothers and sisters as well as all Nigerians on the occasion of the celebration of this year’s Easter.
“This year’s commemoration of Easter comes amid the grip with which COVID-19 has held the entire world.
“Unprecedented in living memory, majority of Christians have found themselves marking Easter in a subdued manner, away from the usual congregation in churches. This is unusual and very unfortunate.
“However, I wish to enjoin our Christian compatriots to rekindle their faith in Christ who overcame persecution, sufferings and displayed endurance, steadfastness and above all piety.
“Jesus Christ represented man’s ability to withstand temporary pains in the hope of everlasting glory.
“I urge you to imbibe and live the values of humility, discipline, perseverance, sacrifice and obedience which Jesus Christ demonstrated during His stay on earth.
“There is no better opportunity than now for all Christians in particular, and Nigerians in general, to remain faithful and hopeful that with intensified prayers backed by personal and collective responsibility, the nation shall pull through this most difficult trial.
“I have no doubt that if all stakeholders – individuals and groups – play their part to the fullest as advised by our scientists and medical experts in confronting COVID-19, the inherent resilience and determination of our people will enable us to pull through.
“As I stated in my national broadcast on Sunday, March 29, 2020, since there is currently no known vaccine against the virus, ‘the best and most efficient way to avoid getting infected is through regular hygiene and sanitary practices as well as social distancing”, he observed.
The President also reemphasized the commitment of his administration to continue to cater to the needs of Nigerians, especially the most vulnerables among the population.
He, however, singled out the performance of the Boss Mustapha-led Presidential Task Force (PTF) on (COVID-19) for the tireless efforts it had put into protecting Nigerians against the scourge and for ensuring that the poor and vulnerable in society are not left to their fate.
“May I use this opportunity to commend the encouraging containment and ameliorating strategies put in place by members of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19.
“I am very much aware of the personal and collective inconveniences suffered by our people due to measures such as restriction of movements and closure of business premises. Being “a matter of life and death,” these sacrifices are in everybody’s interest to save our country from calamity.
“The welfare of our people is paramount. Accordingly, the most economically vulnerable in our communities will continue to be uppermost in our plans, and efforts will be made to supply them with basic means of survival”, the President said.
He assured Nigerians that government had not gotten carried away with the challenges of the global pandemic and forgotten the imminent danger that terrorists and insurgents posed to the country, saying the various agencies of government tasked with security had been up and running to safeguard Nigerians and their communities against these threats.
“While we see the COVID-19 pandemic as a global challenge, this administration is not oblivious of the constant threat posed to our national security by terrorists and insurgents. They may take this opportunity to perpetrate attacks. But our armed forces and other security and intelligence services will remain vigilant and continue to contain these threats and consolidate efforts to eradicate them completely.
“As we mark this year’s Easter, whatever the circumstances, I encourage you to make the most of the situation, and to keep safe”, the President said.
