Hon. Buba's Death, a pill too Bitter to Swallow- Faleke

News got to me this morning of the transition to the great beyond of my friend, my brother, my associate, Hon(Arc) Buba Umar Jibril, Member Representing Lokoja/Kotonkarfi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives   and Deputy Majority Leader.

I remain transfixed, shocked and dazed unable to comprehend why death would choose to snatch away good people when they are needed most by the people they serve.

Hon Buba,s death is a bitter pill to swallow for my family and i, for the Audu/Faleke Political Organization, his constituents, the National Assembly, Kogi State and indeed the entire nation.

He was such an honest, principled and disciplined politician whose interest at all times was the progress and development of Kogi State. He  would sacrifice his personal comfort to realise ends aimed at the greater good of his people. He was a philanthropist extraordinaire.
How could i ever forget the heroic role you played fighting for justice all through the 2015 electoral saga in Kogi State.

You shunned the lure of filthy lucre and stood resolutely on the side of the majority of Kogites who believe that the Audu/Faleke Group was robbed of the Governorship position in  the State. You never waivered for a second! You held on as a good soldier of conscience till the end, never betraying the trust of the people you faithfully led.

Nigeria has indeed lost one of her leading lights.
May the good Lord grant your soul eternal repose. And may Allah grant your family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
Adieu! Great Leader, Great Friend!!!

Drama in Kogi as Governor Bello Reportedly Threatened New Commissioner of Police to Leave the State

Drama in Kogi Police Command as incoming CP flees without taking over...

There was a mild drama, Thursday, at the State Command of the Nigeria Police headquarters, Lokoja, as the incoming Commissioner of Police, Esa Sunday Ogbu, was not available for handover.

The outgoing CP, Ali Jaga came to the office in company of AIG of Police Zone 8, expecting to see the new CP.

DAILY POST which has been monitoring developments around the state command gathered that the new CP had earlier been threatened a day to his resumption.

The Kogi Governor, Bello, reportedly told him to leave the state

The new CP, as a result of the intimidation, left for Abuja Thursday morning.

Efforts to speak with the Force PPRO, Jimoh Moshood was not successful as he did not pick calls put across in his two lines.

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim K. Idris, had ordered the immediate removal of Kogi State Commissioner of Police, CP Ali Janga over questionable circumstances that led to escape of two key suspects in a matter involving Senator Dino Melaye.

The new CP, Ogbu was Commissioner of Police, Federal Operations, Force Headquarters, Abuja before his posting to Kogi State.

PS: If a new CP can be intimidated and virtually 'returned' by the Gov, imagine giving this governor control over a STATE police.

A CLARION CALL TO SERVE- BY SEN. SMART ADEYEMI YOUTHS VANGUARD;

BEING A PRESS STATEMENT DELIVERED ON 29TH MARCH, 2018 AT NUJ CONFERENCE CENTRE, LOKOJA, KOGI STATE.
Good morning the good people of Kogi-West Senatorial District, ladies and gentlemen of the press.
First, we wish to place on record that this Vanguard known as “Sen. Smart Adeyemi Youths Vanguard” is a movement which was mainly established to promote democracy and bring the dividends of democracy close to the people of Kogi-West Senatorial District. It is a movement that works in partnership with over 20 (twenty) different political associations, which are spread across all the 7 (seven) local Government Areas, that make up Kogi-West Senatorial District.
Ladies and gentlemen of the press, recent developments in the country, particularly as it affect Kogi-West Senatorial District in the red chambers of the National Assembly, have made it mandatory upon we the good people of Kogi-West Senatorial District to have a rethink over our current representative who, sadly, has deviated and derailed from the very essence of Senatorial representation to a more of dramatic show and demonstration of hooliganism at the legislative floor of the red chambers of the National Assembly.

The essence of the constitutionally guaranteed right of the good people of Kogi-West to be represented under Section…..of the 1999 constitution is to have their interests promoted and protected through their elected representative. Sadly and unfortunately, unlike other Senatorial Districts across the country, this constitutionally guaranteed rights of the good people of Kogi-West Senatorial District apparently seems to have been mutilated by the poor and fruitless representation being dispensed by the current serving Senator representing Kogi-West Senatorial District.
Ladies and gentlemen of the press, this is an occasion to declare the resolve of the good people of Kogi-West Senatorial District under the banner of “Sen. Smart Adeyemi Youths Vanguard” to strive and remedy the mistake of the past and to continue to strive in that regard until victory is won and the constitutionally guaranteed rights of the people of Kogi-West to good representation is redeemed to their benefits and progress.

Ladies and gentlemen of the press, there is no doubt that the good people of Kogi-West Senatorial District have gotten less than they deserve as their legal entitlements from their current Senatorial representative. History they say is not everything, but it is a starting point. History is a clock that people use to tell their political and cultural time of the day. It is a compass they use to find themselves on the map of human geography. It tells them where they are but, more importantly, where they must be.
To this end, we the good people of Kogi-West Senatorial District under the banner of Sen. Smart Adeyemi Youths Vanguard in partnership with over 20 (twenty) progressive Associations spread across the 7 (Seven) local government Areas of Kogi-West Senatorial District, hereby collectively and unanimously resolve that SEN. SMART ADEYEMI is the answer to redeeming the rights and legal entitlements of the good people of Kogi-West Senatorial District. Accordingly therefore, we collectively call upon SEN. SMART ADEYEMI to answer the clarion call of the good people of Kogi-West Senatorial District to provide us with the much needed good representation in the red chambers of the National Assembly so as to bring us the dividends of democracy.
We further wish to state that the above decision of the good people of Kogi-West Senatorial District is not anchored in a vacuum but on printed good records and achievements as well as capability, integrity, qualifications and wealth of experience of SEN. SMART ADEYEMI some of which we wish to highlight as follows;

a. Construction of well-equipped hospital at Igbe close to Aro’s house and other 6-7 well equipped hospitals to improve the health of the people.
b. Construction of a standard market at Ijumu Local government.
c. Purchase and installation of electric power transformers at Ajara quarters, Katigo’s residence and Mami market barracks.
d. Construction of a standard stadium situate at Kabba.
e. Construction of boreholes at Yashi, Lokoja and at a mosque in Mami.
f. Social welfare and financial support for several individuals of Kogi-West Senatorial District, ranging between #1, 000, 000.00 to #2, 000, 000.00 for each individual.
g. Social welfare and support for the good people of Kogi-West Senatorial District through distribution of over 26 cars to different beneficiaries.
h. Procurements and distribution of over 200 canoes and nets to various committees comprising of the good people of Kogi-West Senatorial District in Lokoja/Kotto.
i. Sponsorship of students to High schools.
j. Welfare support for the victims of flood disaster in Kogi-West senatorial District.
k. Social welfare support for many Widows in Lokoja/Motto, through distribution of over 21 refrigerators to different beneficiaries.
l. Social welfare support for the good people of Kogi-West through distribution of up to 21 grading machines to various beneficiaries.
m. Sponsorship of the airlifting of over 430 Muslim and Christian pilgrims to Mecca and Jerusalem, respectively.
n. Financial assistance and support ranging between #200, 000.00 to #500, 000.00 to several individuals of Kogi-West Senatorial District.
o. Purchase and distribution of over 300 motorcycles to several individuals in the Kogi-West Senatorial District.
p. Provision of educational scholarship for over 2000 students-beneficiaries in the Kogi-West Senatorial District.
q. Procurements and donations of ambulances for the Federal Medical centre, Lokoja, various local governments including Kogi, Dekina, Okene, Kabba, Ijumu, Mofa, Igbe and Igbo market.
r. Procurement and distribution of SUV NISSAN to our respected royal traditional chiefs in Lokoja and Koto.

Ladies and gentlemen of the press, the above listed are just few among many un-matched achievements of SEN. SMART ADEYEMI which make him deserve the unanimous resolution and clarion call of the good people of Kogi-West Senatorial District to represent us and bring more democratic dividends closer to the people in addition to his un-matching record of achievements as enumerated above.

Lastly, ladies and gentlemen of the press, it is the collective hope of the good people of Kogi-West Senatorial District, under SEN. SMART ADEYEMI VANGUARD that SEN. SMART ADEYEMI will respond to this clarion call and accept to contest the next Senatorial election for Kogi-West Senatorial District so as to emerge as our representative in order to record more achievements and demonstrate to all and sundry that representation ought not be a dramatic show nor demonstration of hooliganism but about bringing dividends of democracy closer to the people.

Finally, may we appreciate everybody, particularly ladies and gentlemen of the press and representatives of various associations from across the 7 local government areas of Kogi-West senatorial District who despite their tight schedules found time out of no time to attend this important press briefing.
Long live Kogi-West Senatorial District!
Long live Kogi state!!
Long live Nigeria!!!

Thank you all and God bless.

Signed:
Barr. Yahya Danlami (Coordinator, Sen. Smart Adeyemi Youths Vanguard)

MY CONTRACT WITH THE PEOPLE OF KABBA-BUNU/IJUMU FEDRAL CONSTITUENCY

As we approach 2019 general election, political activities and discourse is dominating our media space across the country. Politicians and aspirants are warming up and selling their manifesto to the electorates. I am not left out in this quest to attain political office come 2019. Mine is neither manifesto nor electoral promises but a social contract with the people of Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu federal constituency which I hope to represent at the Nigerian House of representatives.

I can conveniently say that I have been together with our people for a very long time to understand their needs and areas we can intervene for meaningful impact. Of course, my aspiration to represent our people is borne out of my genuine desire to make meaningful and positive impact.

I must sincerely appreciate those who represented us and still representing, they have contributed thier own quota in various ways. I will consolidate and introduce new measures to guarantee optimal impact.

If given the opportunity to represent the people,  I will constitute a need assessment committee with a member each from the 30 wards of Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu federal constituency which will meet quarter to assess and evaluate the needs of various communities in the federal constituency. This committee will have unhindered access to information as regards whatever benefits that is accruing to the people as a result of my representation. My representation will be open and transparent.

We will also modify the usual arbitrary siting of projects, purchase of empowerment tools to reflect the needs of individuals and groups in my constituency.  This will help to reduce the challenges of nonfunctional projects scattered across our constituency.

Lastly,  I will make myself  available quarterly in a town hall meeting for the people I hope to represent to appraise my performance and suggest areas of improvement. Our campaign slogan is TIWANTIWA, it is about  the people, the people owns the project and that will be reflected in all our activities. RE: Yagba Group Kicks Against Alleged Call On TeeJay Yusuf To Contest 2019 Senate Election.

A Kogi West Constituent, Morgans Alepa has condemned a statement made by an unknown group kicking against the call by Okun Elders Forum on Hon. Teejay Yusuf to run for the 2019 Kogi West Senate election.

According to him, "the article is a flagrant departure from the reality. He said, how on earth can a group/person put that up?"

"What parameter did they use to arrive at this calculation that Kabba/Bunu cannot contest or do not deserve the Senate position of Kogi West Senatorial District?"

Morgans Alepa gave a deep insight into the political history of the office.

Excerpt:

If it is by Local Government, below is the duration each local government has occupied the office.

Ijumu - 12years
Kabba - 3months
Kotonkarfi - (Elected not sworn in)
Lokoja - 8years
Mopa/Amuro - 2+
Yagba East -
Yagba West - 4years.

This is just a tip of an iceberg.
I will outline three solid point why Kabba/Bunu has been cheated than any other local government in Kogi West.

Firstly, the zoning arrangement has never been adhered to religiously. For instance in 2007 elections, the Senate was zoned to Ijumu but TJ Faniyi and Yomi Awoniyi from Yagba contested and lost to Sen. Smart Adeyemi.

The duo from Yagba kicked against rotation, contested and lost.

In 2011 it was zoned to Yagba, the incumbent Sen. Smart Adeyemi from Ijumu LG contested against TJ Faniyi & co.

TJ Faniyi &co lost as well to the incumbent who is from Ijumu LG.

Secondly, you claimed that Hon. Teejay Yusuf is a product of rotation and I begged to debunk that.

In 2011 Sen. Dino contested against the rotational arrangement though he lost to Teejay Yusuf by share grace of God. Please, don't get this twisted.

Finally, the underlining motive of zoning/rotation is fairness to all but when you look at the other political offices enjoyed by our Yagba brothers, you will agree with me that all had not been justly treated.

Consider this:

  1. Ministerial Appointment

      Ijumu - 2
      Kabba/Bunu - Nil
      Mopa/Amuro - 1
      Yagba East - 1
      Yagba West -

  2. Deputy Governor

      Ijumu - Nil
      Kabba/Bunu - Nil
      Mopa/Amuro - 2
      Yagba East - Nil
      Yagba West - Nil

   3. Secretary To The State Government

       Ijumu  -  1
       Kabba/Bunu - Nil
       Mopa/Amuro - 1
       Yagba East - Nil
       Yagba West - 1

    4. Acting Governor

        Mopa/Amuro - 1

    5. Party Chairman

        Yagba East - 1

So my people what is/are the basis/bases of your claims?
As far as we talk of anything that we have together as a people, Kabba/Bunu has not been justly treated.
All we need now is equity that is seasoned in fairness.

The group calling in Hon. Teejay to contest for the Senate position believed that the party's best hands should be put forward (considering the fact that a party in opposition must bring its best forward if election must be won before other accruing offices can be gotten to the party's fold).

A realist example is the model of Rivers State during the last dispensation, where Wike a strong and popular political stalwart from Ikwerre was put forward to slug it out with the then sitting Governor, another strong man from the same Ikwerre. PDP was only able to win that election for this singular strategy not capitalizing on zoning/rotation. We sincerely need to be wise if we must win back our senatorial district.

However, I must acknowledge the doggedness of your approach. Together we are stronger.

Why We Apologized To Nigerians, Says PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says its apology to Nigerians is the pathway to national healing, renewal of hope and remobilization of the citizenry for the task of rescuing the nation from our current pathetic situation occasioned by the painful misrule of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The PDP said that as a responsible party, committed to the good of Nigerians, it is deeply saddened that our people are suffering because the nation allowed the APC, a movement that has neither structure nor plan, to scheme itself into governance, devastate the country, wreck our once robust economy and plunge our citizens into a situation of hunger, starvation and daily bloodletting.

The party said it is not unmindful of the fact that lessons have been learnt and that Nigerians across board are now looking up to its repositioned and rebranded platform to pull the country from the brinks and return her to the path of true democracy, national cohesion and economic prosperity, which were the hallmarks of PDP’s 16 years.

The PDP, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, on Tuesday, said while certain mistakes were made in its internal administration prior to the 2015 general election, its new leadership has already smoothened the rough edges to ensure strict adherence to internal democracy and good governance in all processes.

It is imperative to further state that our apology has to do more with the fact that we made certain mistakes that allowed an anti-people movement to take over governance in our country.

Our situation under the APC has become so pathetic that the world is now contemplating on how to help us. Under the APC misrule, the average life span of Nigerians has become abysmally low, purchasing power is eroded, the middle class has been wiped off, security is almost non-existent, all the economic gains of the PDP years have been destroyed, and our nation is now placed on auto-pilot.

It is painful to note that under the nightmarish rule of APC, Nigerians have become so frustrated that they now consider suicide mission and slavery as options.

Therefore, our apology is to ask Nigerians, once again, to put their trust in the rebranded PDP, particularly, as our party is the only platform that is committed to the national agenda of peace, unity, justice and prosperous nation.

Signed:

Kola Ologbondiyan

Kogi West 2019: Kabba/Bunu Youth Clamour For Equity, Says It's Kabba/Bunu's Turn.

By Mike Babatunde

2019 is at the corner. With reconciliation, restructuring and repositioning tickling on here and there.

This has geared up the political sensitivity and erupted speculations that power will return to the people of Kogi State come 2019/2020.

Then if this envision comes to past, what will be the hope of Kabba/Bunu (the most cheated people in Kogi West Senatorial District on the altar of equity)?
In the spirit of fairness, equity and justice PDP has always made it a
tradition to exercise power sharing through zoning across the State.
Some concerned people may ask, what form the basis for such opinion that Kabba/Bunu is the most cheated people in the district, equity being the fulcrum of my analysis. I will like to give a touch of history to justify my point of view.

In the old Kwara State, Yagba had gotten the privilege of representing our constituency in the Nigeria Senate between 1979 & 1983 in person of Senator Justus Olabode, a bonifide son of Egbe, Yabga West.
Kabba/Bunu got the chance for the same seat for just four months in 1983 (Sen. Funsho Obasaju).

After the creation of Kogi State, Senator
Sunday Awoniyi, father of the former Deputy Government (Yomi Awoniyi), represented us in the upper chamber from 1992 - 1993.

Since the inception of PDP in 1999 which marks the new face of political stability in Nigeria, PDP had been representing us in the red chamber until 2015 when PDP lost the seat to APC.

Sen. Tunde Ogbeha from Lokoja/Koto Constituency enjoyed two tenures (1999 - 2007) of representation at the upper house under the platform of PDP. This constituency got the Senate seat on the ground of zoning.
After the expiration of Ogbeha’s second tenure, in the same spirit of
fairness and equity, the stakeholders and the party leaders in the zone thought it wise to shift the senate slot to another Federal
constituency, which the senator himself consented.

This development brought a big tussle among the 5 local councils in
Okun land. To suppress the rancorous battle among the contestants from these local governments; which might lead to jeopardy of the peaceful coexistence among Okun people, the leaders resolved to streamline the contest to only two Local Governments in the two constituencies that had not occupied the Senate seat- Ijumu and Yagba East Local Governments.

That gave Sen. Smart Adeyemi from Ijumu Local Government the platform to be senator for 8 years (2007 - 2015).
The most disgusting thing was that toward the end of his tenure he began to mount up machinery that would work out his victory in 2015 senatorial election against the zonal arrangement that brought him to power, but lost to Sen. Dino Melaye from the same Ijumu local government.

By 2019, Ijumu would have spent uninterrupted  12 years in Senate.

If zoning was truncated by Smart Adeyem and if Yagba could not get the Senate by zoning arrangement, as at when due, does that mean Yagba has been marginalized? No! No!! NO!!!.

They had enjoyed 5 years in Senate, 4 years as Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, 8 years as Deputy Governor, 7 years as SSG and 4years as State Party Chairman not to talk of Ministerial appointments.

I use this avenue to awake the consciousness of the great people of Kabba/Bunu and most emphatically cum especially, the conscious youth that the Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Constituency does not belong to Ijumu alone, neither are we junior partner or second fiddle to them or any other. It is high time we wake up for this reality, come 2019 it is the turn of Kabba/Bunu to produce Senate.
Lokoja had spent 8 years, Ijumu 12 years at the end of this era, Yagba West 4 years, Mopa/Amuro 1 year and Kabba/Bunu just 3 months.

If the Kabba/Bunu leaders seem not conscious enough, so, the youth either instigate them or take the bull by the horn. We call on Dr. Olorunfemi, Hon. Jeseph Dada, Hon Funsho Otu, Hon. Duro Meseko, Hon. Joash, Hon. TJ Yusuf, Hon. Eniolorunda and all other leaders to be at alert and get it into their subconsciousness that on the altar of equity and justice, we cannot be subdued anymore.

Let us not look at it from the purview of a labourer who will only be fed to stay alive and do more.
May God help us.

Elder Leke Abejide guns for Yagba House of Reps..Announces Payment of 2018 WAEC Fees At All Schools.

A Kano based businessman and the Asiwaju of Alu, Elder Leke Abejide Monday made known his interest to contest for the Yagba Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives in 2019.

In a statement released on one of his social media handles, Elder Leke who said he has been under pressure to contest the Yagba Federal Constituency seat vowed to use his first year in office to empower the youths via Mechanized farming.

Elder Leke who hails from Alu in Yagba East LGA of Kogi state, vows to pursue programs that will have direct impact on the youth

He said he decided to contest the election after yielding to pressure from the good people of Mopamuro, Yagba-East and Yagba-West Local Government areas and after several consultations with the stakeholders and associates.

Elder Leke insisted that the youth remain the active segment of his plans and vowed that for the period he will be representing his people at the green chamber, WAEC fee will be free for all public school students in Yagba land.

"Let me use this time to appreciate everyone for your kind love and affection to me in particular and to the entire good people of Yagba land.
I have faced a lot of pressures to contest the seat of House of Representatives for Yagba Federal Constituency come 2019.

Left to me I would have loved to remain an Entrepreneur and Philanthropist which God Almighty has made me.
Initially I felt reluctant but the people made me to understand that their destiny is equally attached to my success having seen what God is using me to do in a lot of people's lives, either directly or indirectly in helping them cross poverty-line.
This will be possible because programs that will have direct impact on our people especially our youths will be vigorously pursued, there will be no WAEC fees for the period of time I will be representing the people of Yagba Federal Constituency at the National Assembly.

To show a good example, I will pay this year 2018 WAEC FEES for all public schools in Yagba Federal Constituency using my personal resources.
My first year in office will focus on how to empower financially by focusing on Mechanized Agriculture where they can make fortunes for themselves.
And based on my partnership with leading Agro companies across the globe, getting their produce to the Market will not be a problem.
I will also personally educate and supervise  beneficiaries of this mechanised Agric project on the kind of crops to be planted" he said.

He further said Few ones(Youth) with Masters Degrees will be assisted to acquire PHD abroad so that when they return they will become an asset to the Nation in particular and the World at large.
"Naturally women and men are in my calculations always and this you can attest to with my programs for the widows.
Going forward, anyone who will not bring the impact of governance to bear and the manifestation to our people should not be supported in getting elective positions

God bless Yagba Federal Constituency, God bless the new era expected in Kogi State, God bless Nigeria" he concluded

TY DANJUMA'S COMMENT: ARMED FORCES MUST COME CLEAN- AMRI

DEMANDS IMMEDIATE END TO SENSELESS KILLINGS AND NHRC INVESTIGATION INTO THE ALLEGATION...

The Executive Director of Africa Media Roundtable Initiative (AMRI) Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi wants the security forces to purge itself of any iota of complicity regarding the orgy of bloodshed that has continued unabated across the country especially the North central and parts of North East.

The recent allegation by former Minister of Defence and elderstatedman T.Y Danjuma accusing the military of abetting the killings is not one that should be discarded with a wave of hand especially going by the pedigree of Gen. Danjuma, a retired military general whose source of information in our understanding wields some indispensable credibility. Again, this justifies the alarm raised by Bassa residents in Plateau state accusing the military of giving protection to the herdsmen who audaciously graze on their farms, the same sect being fingered of perpetrating the killings.

This is regrettable coming at a time when the trust and confidence of our people on the ability of our security forces to protect them has steadily weaned. This totally negates President Buhari's agenda of giving protection to everyone in the country irrespective of their religious, ethnic or political affiliations.

Our Executive Director therefore demands that the National Human Rights Commission investigates the claim that is becoming popular most especially now coming from a credible source. While the open investigation lasts, the Nigerian Armed Forces must review its rules of engagement on the fight against this internal killings and also investigates its men in these states with possible sanction against anyone involved in this unpatriotic business of using our people's lives as a pawn on the chessboard in order to regain the people's confidence.

This must not only be done but must be seen to have been done through the immediate end to the unnecessary bloodshed and killings across the nation. If this is not done and in record time, Nigerians may have no choice than to believe that the military has a hand in the mass murder of our innocent citizens that has lingered unchecked which will obviously bring the integrity and professionalism of the forces to disrepute and public ignominy.

Our nation is more than ever divided along ethnic and religious line which portends danger. The people are currently   miffed and uncontrollably worried by the unabated killings.
