The Arewa Consultative Forum has faulted the former interim National
Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Bisi Akande, and other
prominent Nigerians for their comments regarding President Muhammadu
Buhari’s health.
Akande had on Monday raised the alarm over the President’s health and urged Nigerians to pray fervently for his quick recovery.
Also
on Monday, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, and some Nigerian
activists called on Buhari to proceed on medical leave immediately to
enable him to fully recover.
But the ACF said in a statement by
its National Publicity Secretary, Muhammadu Ibrahim, that the comments
and call were unnecessary and uncalled for.
The
statement read, “Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has observed with
concern that some individuals are carelessly making unnecessary remarks
pertaining to the health of President Muhammadu Buhari.
“What
Nigerians need to do now is to pray for his good health and not to
speculate or draw conclusions which will do no one any good.
“ACF
advises Nigerians to please pray for the improvement of Mr. President’s
health so that he can serve the nation with more vigor.”
On the
frosty relationship between the National Assembly and the Presidency,
the ACF advised the National Assembly to think of Nigeria above all
other considerations.
