Summary of the Herdsmen attack in bassa Land. (Sad Situation)

 A CALL FOR URGENT ATTENTION

1.On the 15/3/18 two persons were injured in womo and wussa villages and a woman was raped in rekpemi within ikende Ward, after the Herdsmen flee from the oganenegu attack.

2. On the 16/3/18, 2persons were shot death by the Herdsmen in Nyende a border village between bassa and omala LGA. Still on the same day a woman was injured in kachuku village and  4 motor cycles taken by the Herdsmen, The woman later died on 17/3/18 from the severe machete cuts.

3. On 18/3/18, the same herdsmen burntdown Nyende village completely to ashes. No single house is standing in Nyende anymore, all burnt downtown with properties and stored agricultural produce.

4.The same day, about 3 young men  narrowly escaped been killed by the Herdsmen but lost their 3motorcycles to the Herdsmen.

Sadly, the government whose role is first and foremost to protect lives of its citizenry have completely ignored the plight of my people in Nyende who are not refugees in their ancestral land.

What is more perplexing is the fact that security agencies were informed of this attacks yet they completely ignored Nyende and the bassa people.

Up to this point nobody especially the supposed government officials have even cared to know about the plight of this people who are now homeless, no body has visited this places, yet they government claimed they have visited affected villages.

I have never heard of Nigeria Military having  jurisdictional limitation in operations within the territory of Nigeria, sadly, that was the case of Nyende people.

The soldiers stationed in Ikende (Bassa LGA)refused to go Womo, Nyende and its environs even when attack was imminent in Nyende on the flimsy claim that part of the area falls within another Local Government Area (Omala) despite been close to attack prone areas, they never did until my people were killed and all houses completely burnt. What kind of a nation is this?

We are calling on all well meaning Nigerians and the world all over to come to the aid of the bassa people, especially as it is now, the people of Nyende as it appears have been sold out to the Herdsmen as their ancestral land is now a camp of the Herdsmen, yet the government is fully aware of the situation.

Kogi is under attack, igala/ bassa are under attack, we must unite to fight the common enemy.

I call on Igala sons and daughters to join hands with the bassa and get rid of the common enemy. Defending in isolation would only mean postponing the evil days.
