Drama as Kogi SARS men fail to effect illegal arrest of Sen. Dino Melaye

The Federal Government yesterday Thursday arraigned the Senator representing Kogi Western Senatorial District, Senator Dino Melaye before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja on two count charges of incriminating the Chief of Staff to Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, Mr. Edward Onoja and giving false information to the Nigerian Police

After the senator pleaded not guilty to the two counts filed against him by the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation the judge, Justice Olasunbo Goodluck, granted bail to the defendant.

The senator immediately met the bail condition of N100,000 and a surety of level 14 Federal Civil Servant who is resident in FCT.

Shortly after the bail condition has been met,  men of the Special Anti- Robbery Squad (SARS) from Kogi State surrounded the Federal High Court premises in order to arrest the senator despite meeting the bail condition.
SARS Men positioned outside the court.

While the heavily armed SARS men took different positions outside the court, waiting to arrest the senator whenever he is sighted outside the court, the senator who already got wind of the mission of the SARS men miraculously find his way out of the court unsighted by anyone.

Some staff of the court claim the senator must have disappeared from the court premises.

The SARS men unknown to them still laid siege till 8pm for the senator who had already gone unnoticed.

The SARS men looked frustrated, stranded and disappointed.
