The event which held on Saturday 1st December, 2018 at the Christian Mission in Mery Land primary school Ayingba was the cynosure of all eyes when the African Democratic Congress, a major opposition party in Kogi State flagged off its 2019 general election campaign.
The Publicity Secretary who spoke to THE LEAKAGES briefly after the event said, the people of Kogi State have once again shown they are tired of the failed government of APC in the state.
Barshi said It was a show of strong resolve, unity and cohesion in the party as all the key ADC Leaders across the State, National Chairman,Secretary,Treasurer and the National Publicity Secretary, members of State executives and notable leaders attended the event, reassuring the people of the party’s readiness to deliver dividends of Democracy to the people.
The ADC State Chairman, Prof. Isah Daniel trekked from his residence to the venue of the flag off which is about five(5) kilometer distance, flanked by his teaming supporters, he got a lot of cheers along as he walk down to the venue. He was later joined by Hon. Samson Ihiabe aka positive midway into the walk.
Speaking at the event, the chairman thanked the mammoth crowd for coming out to witness the historic event, he reminded the good people of kogi east how himself and the evergreen Governor, Late Prince Abubakar Audu the "Prince of the Niger" promised the people of kogi east of good governance at all levels.
He said ‘’At the same point a few years ago before the demise of our leader, Prince Abubakar Audu, we promised the people prompt payment of salaries, security of properties and life, good roads, access to qaulity cum improved educational standard, human and infrastructural development in the state, but as we all know the reverse is the case due to the demise of our hero may his soul rest in peace.
He further said today being 1st December marks the beginning of victory of light over darkness. It marks the beginning of struggle which will bring all our candidates to total victory come February and March respectively. We did it before and we are going to do it again even better than before.
The National Chairman of the Party, Chief Ralph Nwosu while addressing the crowd, encouraged the people to be steadfast. He also mentioned how people from the ruling party APC and PDP made several attempt to replace the ADC Kogi East senate candidate, Dr. Victor Alewo Adoji.
The party chairman said, ‘’with the crowd am seeing here today I believe the people of Kogi State have resolved to vote the party come next year general election’’
We promise the people that the party shall not fail the trust repose in us. A vote for ADC, is a vote to secure our future from failed governance. The National Chairman concluded.
Other party candidates that officially received the party flags include Hon. Samson Ohiabe aka (Positive), Hon.Hassan Atayioma omale, Hon. Ismaila Atumeyi and Dr Aliyu Arome Abubakar Audu.
